Atari age forms is kinda like if twitter was filled with people who grew up in the late 70's to the early to mid 80's (and me who grew up in the late 2000's)

Atari, Am I right?

Everyday I question why people willingly buy Atari 5200's
The Atari 5200's architecture is based off of the atari 8-bit line of computers right? And most of the games on the 5200 are on the 8-bit, idk man. I guess I have no nostalgia for the 5200, but still it doesn't seem like the wisest investment lol

@John Stamos Mullet That's why I've not even bothered trying to post mine for sale. Just seems like a hassle.

I've got to say-
We are forced to play(lol)Centipede in the 2600HSC this week, I accidentally improved my PB by about 20k somehow, yay!
Been meaning to get back on the 5200 a bit anyway, got it "off the shelf" yesterday, decided to give the 'Pede a go for the heck of it.
I don't have the trackball, goal is to break 20k with the stick, not, uhh, going great so far(eh, 15k, not bad), but tho it's really, REALLY difficult, compared to the 2600 version, it IS great fun, looks nice, plays "fair", tho again, it's stupid hard, and I kinda suck anyway...

Fun fact, Double wide sprites are the best invention created by human or computer, It tops anything and everything else created by anyone or anything

@adam242 funny you mention that, I'm planning for my next Atari console venture to be an Atari XEGS!
-
@adam242 that's a very good recommendation, I'll look into that!

Gimme a top 10 list, make it Atari related but don't tell me what it's about

Not exactly what you asked for, but check out this thread:

I just got an "USB IBM Floppy Disk Reader" from ShopGoodwill online and it turned out to also be a writer!
I just wanted to get it because it was only $8 and it was in great condition (even came with the original carrying case) Score!-
@Keatah yuh!

I kinda wonder what's the most stupid mod anyone has done to their Atari. Like, adding rgb lights all over it and giving it a mat black paint job to make it look like a modern pc dumb... Y'know?

I would love to get a Fairchild Channel F, I've herd that it has one of the best versions of pong ever made built it, but I work at McDonald's and
make $190 a paycheck, and the only confirmed fully working one on ebay is $219 (which I did save my money a little bit and do have enough) but I'm wondering if I should wait for a better deal, or not spend my money and save because of this whole pandemic thing going on. You guys are smart, help?

I'm at rank "space invader" now, Today is a great day

My brother is having to live with me for a while and he plays games that were made for 4:3 in fullscreen stretched and it's driving me insane.

Picked up an apple 2c about a week ago and I have no clue what to do with it right now, I'm planning on getting some software for it but it seems like looking on ebay for apple 2 lots isn't too common, I might have to fork over the $140ish and get an sd card reader or something.

Sometimes I think about how the Intellivision's marketing strategy was, "a video game console for smart people"
Dunno, just the idea is funny and slightly clever to me
-
super mario brothers but you start with 5 coins and every time you jump you also loose a coin

The power supply on my Fairchild Channel F is buzzing and I can feel it vibrating, I think it's time for me to figure out how to replace it, I was thinking of chopping it off and getting a new power supply that uses the same amps and volts that the Channel F uses, but I'm super new to repairing things, anyone see any problem with me doing that? (just an FYI, my Channel F isn't in the greatest cosmetic condition so it's not that big of a deal if I mod it in my eyes because no matter what, it's never going to be museum worthy haha)
-
Head over to the "the official Channel F" thread and make a post about this. I am sure someone can help you out.
