  1. I just got an "USB IBM Floppy Disk Reader" from ShopGoodwill online and it turned out to also be a writer!
I just wanted to get it because it was only $8 and it was in great condition (even came with the original carrying case) Score!

  2. My brother is having to live with me for a while and he plays games that were made for 4:3 in fullscreen stretched and it's driving me insane.

      Might I add that I'm 17 and he's 28...

  3. Picked up an apple 2c about a week ago and I have no clue what to do with it right now, I'm planning on getting some software for it but it seems like looking on ebay for apple 2 lots isn't too common, I might have to fork over the $140ish and get an sd card reader or something.

Ebay has over 3,300 Apple II items available. About 1/6th of that is stuff that works on the //c.

Then there's ADTpro and Apple Game Server. Bootstrap yourself there!

Get a FloppyEmu and go to town!

  4. After the lockdown stuff is through, thrift stores are going to be PACKED full of garbage (treasure)

Get ready to see people posting their super sweet finds on Facebook

  5. The power supply on my Fairchild Channel F is buzzing and I can feel it vibrating, I think it's time for me to figure out how to replace it, I was thinking of chopping it off and getting a new power supply that uses the same amps and volts that the Channel F uses, but I'm super new to repairing things, anyone see any problem with me doing that? (just an FYI, my Channel F isn't in the greatest cosmetic condition so it's not that big of a deal if I mod it in my eyes because no matter what, it's never going to be museum worthy haha)

      Theallknowingsause

another FYI, if I can I am going to keep the box the power supply was in because it looks super neat, but if I can't then I'll just have it sitting around until I can figure out how to scoop out the internals with out hurting myself.

Head over to the "the official Channel F" thread and make a post about this.  I am sure someone can help you out.

  7. I would love to get a Fairchild Channel F, I've herd that it has one of the best versions of pong ever made built it, but I work at McDonald's and
make $190 a paycheck, and the only confirmed fully working one on ebay is $219 (which I did save my money a little bit and do have enough) but I'm wondering if I should wait for a better deal, or not spend my money and save because of this whole pandemic thing going on. You guys are smart, help?

  10. I couldn't fit my whole banner in the space AtariAge gave me, so here's the whole thing if anyone was interested for some reason

  11. Sometimes I think about how the Intellivision's marketing strategy was, "a video game console for smart people"

Dunno, just the idea is funny and slightly clever to me

  13. Atari age forms is kinda like if twitter was filled with people who grew up in the late 70's to the early to mid 80's (and me who grew up in the late 2000's)

CRT is the only way to go with vintage consoles/ computers. Screw LCDs, upscalers, anything with an HDMI input.

  18. Fun fact, Double wide sprites are the best invention created by human or computer, It tops anything and everything else created by anyone or anything

@adam242 funny you mention that, I'm planning for my next Atari console venture to be an Atari XEGS!

    3. adam242

      adam242

XEGSs are nice, but if you're a newbie to Atari 8-bits, I'd recommend an 800XL. Better built than the XEs and just as capable. Easier to expand and modify.

    4. Theallknowingsause

      Theallknowingsause

@adam242 that's a very good recommendation, I'll look into that!

  19. I had an idea where all the reactions where double wide sprites, here's a mock up I created for fun!

  20. I kinda wonder what's the most stupid mod anyone has done to their Atari. Like, adding rgb lights all over it and giving it a mat black paint job to make it look like a modern pc dumb... Y'know?

  21. I have a budget of $40, what should I get?

(I was thinking of getting that awesome Bezerk Homebrew for the 7800 and Mrs Pacman)

  22. Everyday I question why people willingly buy Atari 5200's

The Atari 5200's architecture is based off of the atari 8-bit line of computers right? And most of the games on the 5200 are on the 8-bit, idk man. I guess I have no nostalgia for the 5200, but still it doesn't seem like the wisest investment lol

      I've got to say-

We are forced to play(lol)Centipede in the 2600HSC this week, I accidentally improved my PB by about 20k somehow, yay!

Been meaning to get back on the 5200 a bit anyway, got it "off the shelf" yesterday, decided to give the 'Pede a go for the heck of it.

I don't have the trackball, goal is to break 20k with the stick, not, uhh, going great so far(eh, 15k, not bad), but tho it's really, REALLY difficult, compared to the 2600 version, it IS great fun, looks nice, plays "fair", tho again, it's stupid hard, and I kinda suck anyway...

      :P
