      All forum sites I'm on have declined. This one maybe less so. What depresses me more is the ever-shrinking early console and 8bit computer representation at shows. But I guess that's what happens when "retro" ages into "antique".

    The Atari 5200 has a way of drawing you in. I didn't get my first 5200 until recently, figuring I could just play the games on the 8-bit computers. Now I've just added a third four-port 5200 console to a collection that includes three Trak-Ball controllers, four refurbished Best controllers, and a complete set of first-party cartridge releases, plus quite a few homebrews.

      My family bought one new when they first came out. The 5200 has always been my favorite -- it just seemed so over-engineered at the time. You figured if any console could truly replicate the arcade experience, it would be this giant heavy wedge of a system.

      I always respond to an offer with a price reduction. If it's a ridiculously low offer, I will take a ridiculously small amount of the price. But never the same price. Might as well just hit "decline" on the offer, it's easier.

    While opening a just-acquired, still-factory-sealed LP from 1975 today, the coolness of that experience was mitigated considerably by the realization that if I'd done the same relative thing when that album was new, I would have been opening a 78 from 1934. Yet another reminder how long ago the 70's were. Doesn't seem possible some days.

      I had a similar revelation recently. In collecting vinyl, you run into many younger folks (20s) who are buying and listening to music 40+ years old. The idea of me buying and enjoying music from decades before I was born just seems so strange. No one did it at the time.

    Weird Al Yankovic also contacted me again tonite LOL What questions should I ask him when he's on the air with me? interviewing alot of people soon and also starting to shoot my first film next week with one of the voice actors from Half Life,Drinking Shasta Grape now and flipping the score on Alien Crush!!

      Weird Al parodied songs because they were popular. I would ask him: did he actually like any of the songs he parodied, and which one the most? If not, what was he listening to that he liked?
