  2. Someone wrote an article about the project.

    Pack con más de 130 juegos para consola Atari Flashback X | Atariteca | Blog sobre computadoras Atari 8 bits serie XL/XE.

    I'm all caught up, I've added everthing we've mentioned. 2000 games total.
    I created the Atari BASIC category, not much art out there tho, I'm afraid.

    I would like to try and sort the homebrew section and fill the empty categories next.

    I'll take some more requests for games to add as soon as I finish that, I've put it off

    for too long.

  3. oh shit, i was displaying that fps counter for testing the overclock. drop this folder on your drive and copy over the ini file.
    (or you can do it manually by going into /rom_a2600/data/retroplayer.ini file, and edit it with notepad to look like this:)

    [Global]
    AudioSample=2048
    ScanlineFilter=0
    RewindStep=4
    UseBezel=0
    BezelPath=<path to bezel>
    Language=0
    UseOSD=0
    MaxBlackTimeout=600

    change the UseOSD=1 to UseOSD=0

    or here is the patch:

  4. Atari Flashback X - NEXUS V.0.3.0 (NEXUS Hub Update)

    NOTE: This update wont actually overclock your system, it has just been slightly skinned to reflect the change and a few rewinds were re-enabled in the settings.

               Make sure you apply RocketFan's New CFW 1st. It's a GIANT improvement in performance. Thanks to rrifonas, as always, for the OG LFB Overclock CFW.

  5. i feel like River Raid is deff playing better. its still running at a solid 81.6 fps, and when i rewind it doesnt always move, and when it dips (around half the time) it dips to 71 or 61 fps. it was hard to get it to 57 fps. i had to rewind over and over and over.

    I can make a video, but im fairly certain after playing with the old version all day. At this point making a video will take away from processing new games, im not very fast or good at it. ill try and whip something up tho.

    what do i call this? Overclocked the Clock Speed to 1.2Ghz and the Mali Clock to 400Mhz? I dont know what any of that stuff means, lmmfao.

    do i just put its "1.2Ghz / 400Mhz" in the bottom right corner of the nexus where system mode goes??

    Is there a simple guide for how to add these to our flashback?  I’m fortunate enough to own own and I flashed some firmware updates to it early last year.  I have my 2600 ROMs connected via an OTG cable.

    yes. flash the cfw, the newley released overclock, and the pack. its simple.

  7. Atari Flashback 9 Gold vs OVERCLOCKED Atari Flashback X Deluxe
    The River Raid Test:

    The skipping in the video is the setup, it doesnt happen in game. If you watch the

    fps counter in the X it runs at 80 now and dips to 60. It feels like the 9 does the

    same thing. Is the 9 already 1.2Ghz? did the old cfw overclock it on the downlow

    since it was copied from rrifonas? before the overclock the X struggled to stay at 60

    and dipped randomly to 40 or even 30, and especially if you hit rewind. you can see

    rewind now makes it dip to 60, hardly noticeable. but its there.

  8. Well, I tried version 2.1 (non working games removed pack) on the afb9 and box art does not show up correctly. I doubled back for all the stuff that works and cut out all the needless files. But, that stuff is posted just above here if you did need any of it. This is a tweaked & streamlined pack. It will work with either the standard or deluxe version of the AFB9, HDMI/SD Card version, with a CFW installed. Put these files on the root of your SD Card. you can keep your /game folder or create a new one. you can keep your /emulator folder or the control files will dump a fresh /emulator folder from your system the first time you power it on. WAIT FOR IT TO DUMP! You only have to do it one time. If you didnt wait, delete the screwed up /emulator folder from your SD Card and just try again, no big deal. Its just the folder on your drive. I Should mention I have a standard unit running the gold CFW, my unit is essential a gold now without the wireless joystick support. Thank you, as always to 80's_Brad!

    NOTE TO ADVANCED CFW USERS: If you have been using the 1.0/1.1 pack this whole time, or your own trimmed or custom list instead, there IS nothing new for you here. Seriously, don't change anything you have added or modified to go backwards to what is essentially a fresh, dumbed down version of 1.1. You will be pissed off. This is only for new users, ease of use and download or in case you couldn't weed through 1.1. Also to end what version is most up to date from me that works on a 9. Just getting my AFB9 back running v0.8, I was in the same boat. So, here it is.

  9. I'm kind of glad I tested so many current systems because I can tell that the Overclock made an improvement in performance.

    Kind of like the messed up box art I noticed and didnt mention again for over a year, I noticed that Kevin M. was right and the 9 played better than the X a long time ago. It was kind of weird building a pack for the lesser system, but you know, I didn't have a 9 anymore. but, it looks like it was kind of pointless to finesse the 9 back at this stage, I guess.

    I want to say thanks again. The overclock has been right here this whole time and I lack certain tech know-how to make these kind of improvments. It takes someone with skill and patience. You made all the artwork ive been doing, feeling silly about because the 9 was superior, worth it overnight. I owe you one.

    Its crazy how fast stuff is moving here. I was working on the side, trying to figure out how to get the nexus running on the 9. traded the X for the old 9 back to work on it. went so far as to post to the guys in the 9 thread that im gonna come back and sort the 9. at this point all i see is the 9 deluxe has wireless sticks. I personally hate wireless controllers. I avoid them at all costs. I'm good on batteries and charging and if there is any kind of lag at all introduced by going wireless, why the hell would you? and paddles are a mess on the 9. I'm not even sure the sdcard vs otg+flashdrive is even a big deal at this point. On one hand its time to let the 9 go, on the other hand, we have a few members here who have a 9 and not an X.

    this is the moment where people in the know should buy an X for $40 bucks. $60+ for a 9 doesnt make sense anymore. I can see the X's being ~$100 in a year if they dont drop another batch at xmas time.

  10. It went fine for me. River Raid is playing better, Like it does on a hacked LFB. From what I remember the heat tests ran when this was done on the LFB showed no change, I think it was 1 degree cooler for some random reason actually. We all have been running the LFBs overclocked for a long time now, no issues I ever heard of.

    Thank you, Rocket. For taking the time to sort all this out. I lack the know how, but I paid attention to what was going on.

    Its also nice to have an update I dont have to do any work for or incorporate into the pack. I'm going to take my time on the next update. I want to sort and polish a few things before I release it. On my build here, I have been powering on straight into the nexus hub, and I don't miss A2600 on boot at all. I think it might be time to tweak a Nexus v3. Thats why I've been releasing stuff as packs. The categories need sorted and fleshed out before i release a version that boots straight into it, i think. or, do you guys really want to go to a2600 1st, and then the nexus, and then arcade or atari800? lol.

  11. I have so much to try, I wish I knew more about the tech side and maybe i would have a lot less testing and trying to do.

    Like, why dont paddles work on the 9 but they do on the X? what is the mod for the 9? what does it change? Why do they perform so jittery? can it be fixed in the pads hardware, or fixed in the emulators software? does paddle speed? need tweaked on a per-game basis? why dont the ranger pads work on the AFBs? why wont paddles work on the LFBs? can paddles be mooded to work on the LFBs? will they still just be jittery like? will ranger paddles work in the LFBs? can ranger paddles be modded to work on an AFB? why am i too lazy to hook it back up and try? lmmfao.

    why cant we add more controller support to the AFBX through retroarch? didnt the PSXClassic do it? is it because retroarch is stripped down here? there is no way to use usb controllers throu the otg cable or a hub? no mouse or keyboard through the otg? never will work? need the source code? i mean, i have questions, but i have no clue.

    P.S> not to give out too much info, but did any of yall just see a giant ass stimulus hit your bank account just now? I might me buying a lot more shit. :)  And since I'm being so chatty cathy, you guys should know that I quit all social media a few months ago. (minus the new youtube, lmmfao) Thats why Im so active here. I have so much more free time now that im not on that goofy shit. I actually miss forums like this.

  12. Everyone is always telling me to get a pi. I felt at least this way i got a "sort of" mini atari out of the deal. Just a little cheap case but the atari branding goes a long way with me. I wanted to see how the emulation quality varies across all the modern HDMI ataris, and how it all compares to the AFBX. They all have their pros and cons. If i HAD to rank them overall (not taking into account controllers and paddles, just the units):

    1. Atari Pi                              $70+         (comes with 1 PS2? pad, or 2P arcade "tank" stick, w/ or /o trackball, with no wood pi case options)

    2. Legends Core Gamer           $60+        (comes with NO pads, + a lot of other options)

    3. RetroN77                           $80+       (comes with 1 stick, there are controller bundle options)

    4. Legends Flashback Deluxe    $60        (comes with 2 6-buttons)

    5. Atari FB9                             $60+       (comes with 2 sticks, + paddles and wireless sticks options)

    6. Atari FBX                             $40        (comes with 2 sticks)

    Last on my list to secure before i even think about a $400 VCS is a real atari and a multi cart. I've been looking at 2600 Jr.s. I still need some paddles, it sucks that people tax for them. I can believe someone doesnt sell them. Ive seen a video where a guy made a set for his son's bday party with radioshack parts in about and hour and with an old laptop, the gameplay looked better than the flashbacks.

    I realize it feels like we are all going off topic lately, but every once in a while I need a break and need to collect and actually play the games. I realize that testing pads and performance isnt much fun to read along and follow. So I jazz it up with comparisons. It lets everyone know where I stand on what I think is the better deal. I don't want you guys thinking that me spending all this time and effort on the X means that it is the superior system. Its just the cheapest and easiest to get, and the easiest for me to work with. And it has the nicest "shell" in my opinion. My top 6 list up there is for stock units with some added games. no crazy hacking or system spec comparisons. just the intended OOTB experience for the masses. The whole point of the flashback packs is to try and elevate those 2 FB units on this list. So it kind of is on topic to actually know where it stands and what its up against. The reason I show the X so much love is because i think that there are a good number of people who collect (and or hack) the classic mini systems and it deserves to sit next to an nes or genesis mini on a shelf, and collectors barely notice it. its bullshit.

  13. Well, here at my kitchen table, I've discovered that kaboom and the ranger paddles are playable on a Retron77, but good luck on earning 3000pt patches.

    I still don't have paddles for the 9 or the X, but from the videos I've seen, I'm guessing hyperkin beats atgames in the paddle department. the rangers are cool but I'm steering with my left hand not my right. It's not all its cracked up to be, but it is fun and playable to point. you can reverse the pad, but its super akward. Warlords is fun. I'm still looking into paddle and stick options for the 9 and X tho.

    Side note, the AFB9 made it's way back. Atari Pi and a set of trooper 2s should be here tomorrow, or ugh... Monday. So I should be now set to test the X vs the others in various categories.

    Just got my X. The box claims it is a Flashback X Deluxe. The unit itself only says Flashback X. Firmware is AR3060s_v0.1.7. Has the pinhole for reset on the bottom.

    Probably won't get the splitter to be able to hook up a thumb drive until tomorrow (but would be nice if it arrived today), and will get the paddles to try out either today or tomorrow.

    it is a deluxe AR3060 -> s <- _v.0.1.7    s=special edition?

    check your number of built in games. Should be 10 extra.

    make sure you use a high speed USB 3.0 flash drive.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

    Just curious. Has anyone tried swapping the AFBX internal files with those from the AFB9 to see if performance improves yet? I have not, myself.
    It seems to me that atari 800, mame, fba, etc all run relatively well, but atari 2600 on the AFBX seems "choppy". It's not that way on the AFB9. We should probably try to figure that out.
