For my hacks that you have in the pack, I'd prefer they be distributed with the labels/boxart I did for them.  I haven't made labels/boxart for all of them, but I have for a fair amount.  There are several variants for most, like Adventure Enhanced, Double Dragon, Xenophobe, and some others.  I think you could re-size most of them for boxart and they'd look decent, but if not, let me know and I'll see about modifying them if I can find my original templates.

I would totally love to have the proper art for your games, and everything else for that matter. I have very limited knowledge when it comes to this sort of thing and really need help. There is no disrespect if I use the wrong image, its just ignorance on my part.

Kevin, if you can get me a list of art and changes you want made to your stuff, let me know and Ill change things around ASAP. Box art needs to be 183x255 and 122x170 for the Flashback X. I can always help out with that stuff if you need. If you have variant art, we could use one for the small image and a different one for the larger one if you prefer? Shark Attack is an example of a two cover game in the pack now.

And this goes for anyone on the boards, you want your stuff added or removed or edited, anything, I WILL do what you ask. I'll make sure your work is represented the way you wish it to be.

    Thank you, Tom "Draxxon"

EDIT: OH MAN!! LMMFAO! I'm never going to be able to choose. such epic stuff! Also Kevin, have you put any thought into what kind of message you might want added to the Note= part of the game description? If anything.

  2. I have added everything we've talked about here so far. As always, I need feedback. What sucks, looks/functions bad, outright wrong or broken, needs added, whatever! I'm going to be working on sorting out the Protos, Hacks & Imports from the Homebrew in its folder. Then double back for the games cut from the A.T.A.R.I. v2.1 Pack. I also need to look into the lossless .png file size reduction as well. Side note, still no email response yet from AtGames service department regarding the firmware update. :(

  3. you can always just download the newest version of NEXUS, and go into the /nexus/all-games.ini file and just remove the link to categories you dont want. If you dont want the sega section, make the all-games.ini entry look like this:

    ,Sega Genesis Flashback]
,Description=Switch to Sega Genesis Flashback mode.
    ,Note= \
,Please do not turn off the system while restarting.

you have to take out the "[" or the system will see the entry. this will remove the link to the section in the nexus so you cant go there anymore. You could also easily add the section back if you changed your mind later. Colecovision is probably a bust because of the one-button joystick, but if you pick up a LFB2 (100 games) I've already finished the coleco and sg1k/sms packs.

  4. I can tell you the stability issue has been there since the beginning for me. Before there were 1000+ games. And I encounter the exact same thing on my NES Classic. I think. C-8 error. On the LFB, it is also there. If it is the memory filling up, is there a way to clear memory whenever you exit a game, or some other trigger?

I have finished the Atari Flashback "exclusives" folder (unreleased protos, hacks, and quasi-arcade versions that came out on a flashback.) There ended up being 51 total. I have normalized all the box art. Added game descriptions, and in the Note= section i add what flashback it debuted on, or if it is an NES or ARCADE type version. There is 2 or 3 missing a description and or instructions. I guess some AFB1 games were "7800" versions LOL. So I used that box art for those few games. I did include the portables (Pac-Man 4k/8k) but i have not even looked into the AFBClassics discs and stuff. I doubt I will at this point.

I used this, and other places, for afb info:
    Atari Compendium

I have a question, and its an idea for some later date. Can this thing run a .pdf viewer (or something similar) and can we load all the game manuals and atari magazines on it?

I still need to finish the mame art, but i have everything ready to go.

  5. Okay, I flipped Hoccer to MAME 2000.

Super Pac was a prototype iirc. I switched over to the A800 set youre using. I switched Quasi and Joust, But I couldnt get joust to work?!? so I flipped it back to the press fire to start version.

i see super columns was a gamegear game. thats why i couldnt find it. I have added all the FBA games, Ill finish up MAME today. Added a few A800 games, river raid, dig dug, pac-man, galaxian, DK, DKjr.... the basic stuff.

Also most the box art for the A800 stuff has the atarimania watermark. I try to avoid watermarked art, but so far, it is all i have. I can paint alot of the w.marks out later. BTW, so far so good, I havent come across any art I cant find in this current batch. Centipede-A800 had to be recreated. hot shockers arcade flyer was a bitch to find and make it presentable. lol. It is a long process. I dont know how many people remember the regular atari sections evolution, but it started the same way, missing and wrong boxes, watermarks, poor quality and faded scans. But if you look at the regular section now, it looks sharp.

I'm thinking about starting a youtube channel. "Atari Flashback Nexus" I think if we get some videos out, people might visit here.

  6. the updates CREATE the button issue. it flips them and disables button config for nes games.

i want to say that out of the box you can just load roms with the sd card. the newest upadte has online leaderboards for 3 or 4 games, but thats about all i remember. I guess it also depends what firmware they come with OOTB now. Its been awhile since i messed with mine.

If your nes buttons are wrong and you cant change them, might as well hack it.

So I picked one of these up at Bed Bath and Beyond over the holidays and inly got around to firing it up a couple days ago. For the 20 (CDN!) or so I paid for it, I am happy with it.  Mine is the version  that has 100 built in games.

The only issues I seem to have is the controls when playing Coleco stuff. Eveything.else works quite well, especially once you set your TV to 'game mode' ...if required. It's got so many random, hilarous games.

Is there an easy way to pop on extra roms, and by easy, I mean without having to read 19 pages here? Thanks!

you can make a folder named game and use a 32GB sd card or smaller and play NES (.dat) SNES (.fig) etc.

or here you can load games with box art to the main menu:
Legends Flashback 2019 ColecoVision Flashback Converter Pack - AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles - AtariAge Forums

Right now, out of the box, not updated is best. If you update with anything it will reverse the Nintendo A and B buttons and you wont be able to undo it.

  8. I had to press fire for Joust and Quasimodo to load. I have been using the DataGhost set. That other TOSEC set is on its way now. Also, all the AFB1-NESOAC games seems to be working right. There was a few games in the folder that werent FB originals. There were alt versions of games on the FB3, but I dont have much info on them yet???

Thanks on the errors, I rushed out what I had so people could mess with A800. I fixed what was mentioned. Next I'm going to work on that large list of Arcade titles.

Let me know if I missed something

    Sega Genesis
    Super Columns

    Final Burn Alpha
    colony 7

My understanding was that the AFB 1 was a NOAC. All the games were rewritten to actually be NES games. My guess is that they would work in any NES emulator with the proper header and nes mapper.

I suppose youre correct. I figure with MAME version we can button map if there were multiple button games, I honestly cant remeber.
    Here are the NES versions.

    Atari Flashback 1 - NES-on-a-chip.rar

  10. [MAME] Atari Flashback Mini 7800 (NES on a Chip) (c)2004 Atari (part 1) - YouTube

Anyone have a clue how to get Atari flashback 1 (NES on a chip) games working on this system?
Was the mame rom ever released? is it compatible with MAME2000? Are there NES version roms?

I found this, but I'm not sure it's what I'm looking for.

  11. Here is the newest pack with everything set up and a handful of Atari 800 games to get you started. A lot of needless features are now gone. Cut and paste them from the NEXUSv1 if you want them back. There are NO cloned entries, there is no factory restore, there is no 3rd level of menus and a second NEXUS, etc.

There IS new Atari 2600 Imports, Prototypes & Hacks sections (EMPTY). The Atari 2600 (PAL) category is under heavy construction, but the games are working. The Legends Flashback section has NES/Famicom and non-Atari Arcade games. The final AtGames system, the Sega Genesis Flashback w/ theme, has been added. It has all the Sega stuff. In these two flashback sections the "Atari" and "Paddle" side menu sections sort NES from Arcade games; or they sort Genesis from SMS+GG+SG1K. Not ideal looking, but it's functional.

When you first power on to the main list, to get to the Atari Vault/NEXUS, click on the last entry in your list, the "RETURN" switch. To get back to the main list click on "Atari 2600 NTSC-U" games. That's it. Have fun! AND REMEMBER... THE RETURN SWITCH IS YOUR FRIEND.

    Atari Flashback X - NEXUS V.0.2.0 (Atari 800 Update)

  12. This is awesome. I'll get it all together and out there soon.
I've added all the other Arcade games from before, but this new list will keep me busy.
As far as obscure artwork... Pisces, War of the Bugs, Vastar, Starwars (not the real one) all had no box art.

If I can't find any I will just create some custom artwork until the real stuff is found.

So, I have completely streamlined NEXUS. The first release was overkill, as I typically do, so there are examples of all the ways to links stuff and organize stuff I can think of. I feel its always easier for someone to remove something they dont want than to add it from scratch. New version is a lot less involved.

I will get atari800 running and a few games as examples and release the new version. Heads up, Ive started working on Atari2600 PAL games and they have no box art yet. I'm guessing in a few hours, sometime late tonite.

  13. can you hook up a usb adapter to the otg usb port and use mouse/keyboard/pads? Is there not a way to add other controllers support thru the OTG?

something i remembered while adding the newest arcade games. the "bl" at the end of the filename stands for bootleg.

I remember when I had all of these roms loaded on the LFB1, a lot of times only the bl's ("popeyebl.zim" for random example) type of named games would work.

    popeyebl.zim - worked

Also, Star Wars is badass, especially with the darth vader theme in the atari arcade category now.

  14. I dont know if you know but i made most of those themes. except the two wood grain AFB stock styled ones. Kevin M. made those. You can deff use mine and edit them however you want to.

All the theme names were play on words. Nega Drive is the Flashback Mega Drive (Genesis) launcher backgrounds and assets reworked to fit the atari menu.

"Light-Fiver" was all original and dark BG. kind of plain, but it could be improved or reworked.

Have you seen the sears tele-games theme yet? It used "Light-Fiver" as a base.

    "Telly-Games" v2:

for the all-in-one... I almost would say stick to regular out of box BGs like the "stock" one, "sans boom" or "stocklate vanilla", or maybe the AFB9Gold one reworked for the X ("Iron Pyrite"). I think its strange that the X didnt get the gold BG on any version, because its much better than the stock one.

  15. That's pretty awesome. Tell me more about the lossless image file size reduction!

It would be really nice to have an all-in-one CFW. Update to the newest version, add all the NTSC-U and leave the backdoor open for running files from the USB Drive.

About the NegaDrive theme.. It is a reskinned sega genesis flashback menu. Just an FYI.

Would you like me to make you a new/unique theme? or tweak an existing one for you for this? Or tweak NegaDrive further?

BTW, a few of those do not have sound (the really old astro-? games, plus frenzy) but I checked and that seems the same on another MAME emulator, may need a newer MAME than we have available to fix those.

I think the mame2000 /samples folder goes straight into the /rom folder. I dont know if those games have audio samples, or if that is the issue.
I'll add the Arcade games mentioned sometime this weekend.

@Fister, can we use the wayback machine to get the old firmware updates? All I see is AFB9/G though.

I also noticed that the FW revision numbers reflect the date. I wonder its v.20 and v.21 is a similar thing and nothing was updated, just reflects the year.

  17. I sent the same type of email to AtGames myself. I am curious if the box art got fixed on any new version (burgetime really shows it), and i was too lazy to see who has shown so far. And, one of the videos i saw on youtube that i posted above was for the newer firmware and the cover for adventure 2 was the white cover of Adv1 that I was asking about that i found lost in the /emu folder. As far as firmware, I have none. There are the two outdated AtGames online versions, and there are the two CFWs based off of those be brad. that is all i have. unless there is something old in my PMs, i'll check.

EDIT: Nope, but here is the AFBX-CFW_beta (regular version was the first/only beta) I tested. although I bet it is identical to what was released here on the 1st page.

Also, speaking of betas, the NEXUS beta was out a few days before NEXUS V.0.1.0 released and I have gotten a little feedback so, here is my to do list:

     - The "Atari Vault" (nexus.goto) in the first entry of the list has been reskinned. The "Return" Switch has replaced it. It's now found in the last entry of the list. It functions exactly the same as it did before.

     - The "Shutdown" and the "Reboot" switches have been removed from the NEXUS and LFBD console list.

     - Cloned Atari Arcade entries and the LFBD Atari 2600 category have been removed. There is now only one instance of each game. (Except for the Psudeo "Factory Restore")

    - The Atari 2600 Category was moved to the last entry in the LFBD list now that there is no easy way back to the LFBD console list.

     - Many new games were added across multiple categories. Old games that were cut due to long boot-up time prior to folder support have been restored. Games from other projects have been imported as well.

     - The Homebrew categories (left over A.T.A.R.I. pack) has been sorted. They also got Kevin's two Woodgrain themes.

     - Created the Atari 2600 Imports category for the foreign games.

     - The actual Sega Genesis Flashback menu theme was imported for the LFBD/Sega Genesis category.

     - The final remaining custom SW Darth Vader theme was installed for the Atari Arcade games category.

  18. 1. @Velvis, you have a newer model. you may not want to install the CFW quite yet.
    2. @Velvis, can you take a picture of the Adventure II and BurgerTime box art from your main menu?
    3. @Fister, I "THINK" I saw a post about a deluxe version V.0.1.8, but I could be wrong. I have version 0.1.18 and the AFBX is on .21 now. Online deluxe version FW is 0.1.5. If there are three iterations of updates for the regular X, then that would mean maybe there is a deluxe 0.1.8 in the wild??? Im not 100% sure, bro.

    4. @Fister, Hi-jack the thread? New, up-to-date CFW should be #1 priority right now. Please, Hi-Jack the thread, lmmfao. Inquiring minds want to know.
    5. What if we get a few people to ask AtGames to release an Official FW update? As an AFBX owner, I would like up-to-date FW. I understand that the "LEGENDS ARCADE FAMILY" is the focus, but, do they have to just end support for the various flashback owners?

    Contact – AtGames E-Store

Velvis, if I was you, I would just get the otg and flashdrive. make a folder named 'game' and load it with 2600 roms and play them the old fashioned way just for now. enjoy all the awesome homebrew out there while you wait.

  19. what version firmware do you have? Check your "ABOUT" screen.

For this pack to work, you have to install Brad_from_the_80's Custom FirmWare first.
After that, put all the files in the /NEXUS folder on the root of your storage device.

If you have an older/original AFBX, no reset button hole on the bottom, it can be a pain in the ### to flash the Official FirmWare first. Then Brad's CFW second.

If you have a newer model, you just put the CFW on a flashdrive, connected via an OTG cable, and its simple, but the CFW is a downgrade. Its based off of the AtGames firmware on their website, which is old and outdated. No one knows what versions 0.1.7/8 and 0.1.19/20/21 out in the wild have to offer.

Here is my official OPINION on the matter. note, OPINION.

There is probably nothing notably different in the later versions, except OTG support out of the box. I have followed all the updates for AtGames devices for awhile and nothing changes. I'm certain the new models don't have a newer version of stella. AtGames changed the scanline filter way back when in the LFB1, some might remember how utterly horrible it was, and there was some attempts to fix button/audio lag in the AFB9. Most of the drastic FW changes happened in the LFB, they flipped the NES buttons, added SNES, increased GameGear screen size, tested online leaderboards, etc. the AFBs didnt change much. Something changed from AFB9 to AFBX, I cant quite put my finger on it, but, we have all the files. All the cores and retroplayers from the 9, X and LFBs. We also have a dump of V0.1.21. we have the newer files set up in this NEXUS pack. It is a Psuedo v21.

I figure new CFW will be made from a future dump of a current AFBXD model eventually. But, maybe not. I can't tell you to hack your system or not. Who knows what is new in later firmware versions and if any newer CFWs will get made in the future?

I can tell you what is new. commands support. goto and folder support. multiple themes in one setup. quickness, picodrive, mame2000, fba2012, genplusGX cores added. Sharing of saved game data files. ability to swap cores and system files on the fly that were previously hardcoded. emulator settings already set up. infinite bezels could be implemented. Psuedo v.21, psuedo LFBD, psuedo afb9 gold/"atari vault", psuedo sears telegames flashback, It's editable and completely flexible. etc.
