Apparently AtariAge isn't keeping retro gaming alive
Arkhan replied to Gemintronic's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I posted something about Turbo Grafx homebrew on there and the post never showed up. Or maybe it did. I don't know. Slashdot sucks now. -
Looking for a tabletop pinball suggestion or two.
Arkhan replied to Reaperman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Alot of them are pretty chincy. I had 5 of those things when I was younger, and some do not hold up well. http://www.mariomayhem.com/fun/mario_merchandise/smb-pinball.jpg These ones are pretty crappy. I had the Mario one, and some outerspace one. They're fun when you're 6, but once you're older, you end up breaking the thing. There are some pretty solid ones you'll find, like the ones Cammy showed. but the real problem is, most of the themes surrounding these things are pretty crappy. You aren't going to find anything this awesome as a tabletop: That's why you should just get the real deal! Just find one your wife likes, and ditch one of the pachinko machines! -
Skate or Die 1 and 2 for the NES-good, or shovelware?...
Arkhan replied to ataridave's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah, that's the spirit. Nevermind the exceedingly excellent half pipe! How does saving your skate ramp fly in the face of skateboarding counterculture. The game bleeds 90s skating attitude. You pelt an old lady in the face with eggs, make some money at the mall (while skating around and throwing stuff at enemy skaters, which in and of itself is illegal.), recover your ramp plans while shredding down the beach, and then go save your chick and stick it to that bald moron, Icepick. By the time you finish the first level of the game, you've upgraded your skateboard and learned enough tricks for the game to control yourself perfectly fine. You really should try playing the game, instead of punting it to the back of your collection forever. -
Skate or Die 1 and 2 for the NES-good, or shovelware?...

FInally, the last post, someone FINALLY mentions the amazing halfpipe portion of Skate or Die 2, which is better than Skate or Die 1's, hands down. Skate or Die 1 is great. It really captures all the elements of skateboarding that you'd want. The Pool Joust is still one of the funnest things in any game. The halfpipe is kinda odd to get used to how they implemented the controls, but it's still good. The downhill jam is great, also. 720 is pretty trashy overall. Now, If you want thrashy skateboard games, you play Skate or Die 1, or 2. It's not like 720 controlled that well compared to the adventure mode of SOD2. At least the SOD2 adventure captures the rebellious spirit of skateboarding better than that stupid looking doof you control on 720, with his helmet and his stupid face. SOD2s adventure mode is fun. I like upgrading the skateboard, and bouncing eggs off old ladies faces. The mall is fun. The beach is annoying, but fun. The whole game is just neat. and the drums in SOD2 kick more ass than any sampled drums ever made. -

I should have specified. I prefer forums. They're alot more consistent/effective/usable. -
I've been actively replaying Gateway to the Savage Frontier on PC. Reading the journal and all. So, yeah, screw that noise. Nostalgia is legit.
-
It's not so much that, its the part where it's just dopey. They're stiff, even with a Sega Genesis D-pad (which is what I use)

I actually like ET. It's a pretty fun game, even though the controls are a bit retarded sometimes. It's not like you should really expect much from an Atari 2600 game, anyway.
-
5$ Says the note-writer never even played ET, and is just parroting the norm. The game isn't that bad.
-
Chuckles too! I hope

Everyone seems to associate Online and RPG with MMO. However, there was a time when that was a load of balls. Neverwinter Nights, for example? there was the option of playing Baldur's Gate with friends, too. I blame WoW. It's caused people to not think properly anymore.
-
It's set to be similar to Phantasy Star Online, I gathered. You play alone, but can invite others to come play and adventure with you on your quest.
-
There's the non-Ultima playing UO player PVP people that want their fair share of enjoyment. I say, screw em! Go play League of Legends if you just want to kill players and ignore story/single playering.
-
I am enjoying seeing the PvP whiners coming out already.
-
The thing of it is, it's like donating and purchasing at the same time. We all get a copy of the game when it comes out, now that we've pledged some decent amount. This is beyond awesome though.

for a game with such a grand purpose, I think 1,000,000 is a valid goal. There will be alot of talent and resources required to make this game happen in a way that isn't a disaster. It's already hit over 250k$, so I have faith that it will be reached.

Lunch time. That was the greatest thing ever. I pledged 1500$ as a birthday present to myself, basically. Even though my Birthday isnt for like 20 days.
-
Its ok, you can come stay at my Lord Manor and eat foods with me.
-
No hand holding for quests! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !
-
Screw you guys. Bow to your Lord! BWHAHAHA
-
My other one was Wasteland 2, and Torment.
-
It's not an MMO. It's just a game where your friends can come dick around with you. its not an MMO Oh man.
-
ITS NOT AN MMO THANK GOD.
-
Yeah I threw 1500$ at it so I can appear as Lord in the game, and have a house, and wave my arms in the air going I WAS HERE FIRST also, lunar rifts/moongates If I had any pee left in me, it'd be on the floor right now.
