Well I finished up Metal Head over the course of today, and yeah it still sucks.
-
My 32x is permanently shoved into my sega and hasn't jacked up any games, ever. I've shoved PS3 in and outta there so many times that if the 32x broke carts, PS3 would no longer be working. I call shenanigans. I started dickin with the 32X again. The star wars arcade game still makes me angry, but some of the other games still suck, but dont anger me as much now lol.

NIGHTCRAWLER. F*** YEAH. Its nice playing it at home on a TV that is larger than the arcade one.
-
I play Tron Evolution, WipeoutHD, and Super Stardust HD in 3D on my PS3 on a 55" Bravia LED tv. Theres surround sound too. Its frigging awesome. The movies are cool too. Like the IMAX deep sea fish extravaganza disc that came with the TV. If you buy the 3D tv, sony gives you 2 free movies and some free games for the PS3! Coupled with my TV only being 2100$ w/ surround sound+blu ray player, 2 sets of glasses, and the transmitter, id say the 3D is totally worth it.

Best Indie Games of the Last 5 Years
Arkhan replied to Metal Ghost's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Braid, Limbo, Scott Pilgrim vs the World -
Im pretty 2600 n00b, hardware wise..... but I figure its like was said already, you and the sprite cant exist at the same time on screen because of sprite limitations... and the guy probably figured "well why flicker them, the lazer shoots off and goes away so fast it has built in flicker I guess". and then he didn't anticipate fast button pressers or turbo pads, thus giving you complete invincibility. The games funny w/ a turbo controller. You basically play steer-the-lazer!

I have a bunch of boxed games that I'd like to get rid of since I don't do the Commodore 64 so much anymore. I have... Album boxes: Bop n Wrestle Archon 1 Archon 2 Realm of Impossiblity Pinball Construction Set Hard hat mack Psi 5 Trading Co Strike Fleet Star Rank Boxing Lords of Conquest Paperboy Gauntlet Racing Destruction Set Infiltrator Quake Minus One Mail Order Monsters Non album cases: F15 strike eagle Star League baseball Crusade in Europe World Class Leaderboard Make me some sorts of legit offers on the stuff. I can take some pictures and send them to you if you're interested. They are all in very nice shape. They DID work last time I played them all, but I don't have a C64 to test with anymore, so they will be as-is. Thanks!

Thinking of jumping on this MVS
Arkhan replied to Taskmaster99's topic in Classic Console Discussion
As noted in other posts, weird back, small monitor, no credit indicator. Also notable are the button markers that go around the buttons and come with conversion kits but are never seen on a factory MVS. Its a nicer looking conversion, but still a conversion. oops. I didn't look too hard, I was half asleep haha. I didnt even read the thread -_- -
Why do people misuse the term MIDI in regards to games
Arkhan replied to Arkhan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
When it's done right (right programming, right hardware, etc.), it's awesome. Listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO6Jappcl30&feature=player_embedded Yeah, I like using an MT-32 for old DOS games w/ MIDI support. MAN do they sound badass that way. Ultima VI w/o a MT-32 is laaaame. While old games aren't specifically MIDI-compliant, they're sure MIDI-like. Now please, tell me all about how wrong I am The average youtube tard doesn't know HOW they are implementing sound. They just hear old beepybloops and farty FM music and go OH ITS MIDI CAUSE ITS LIKE WHAT .MIDS ARE WHEN I GET THEM FROM GOGGLE.COM. As far as being MIDI like, ANYTHING thats producing sound that isn't MIDI compliant can be said to be MIDI-like due to it using code to generate sound events. The point of MIDI is to unify how things are doing it so everything can talk to/control everything. Stuff like the NES games, yeah theyre using various bytecodes, etc, to do the music and sfx. There are volume/pitch/effect events, and all sorts of things. They can be said to be MIDI like in that regard, but.. they're developer specific. It's fairly likely that one developers music/sound code, won't really play nice if they give it to another developer.... that's where MIDI would be nice. The PC Engine uses a nice BIOS setup that has an entire sound library built it that expects various opcodes to go in and generate music/sfx. I like it -
The TV Sports titles never did much for me.. especially when the Genesis EA titles started coming out. takin it to the hoop's slam dunk sequences are the greatest basketball event on any console, ever

Given that the C64 release of it blew hard, I am kind of glad there wasn't an Apple ][ version finalized and released. It would have been a giant disaster, people would cry, and it may have induced suicide. Consider it a blessing that the Apple ][ wasn't defiled.

im bugging my friend to fix it. He does MAME fixes, so maybe we can get this one. lol

Thinking of jumping on this MVS
Arkhan replied to Taskmaster99's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Looks legit. I got a similar setup for 400$ a few months ago. Magical Drop 3 and Bust a move made it entirely worth it. -
TZD used to sell 'em for $20. Why in the heck are they so expensive today? Why hasn't anyone etched their own and produced for others on the cheap yet? No reason such an adaptor would cost more than $10-$20 - TOPS. Pin configuration is the only difference. There's no circuitry involved. Ohh... I get it. Gold plated and cryogenically cured edge connectors... that's what's driving up the cost. Look up the Chopsado converter. A pcenginefx.com member made it. Its a bit ghetto, but man does it work. The converters fell out of popularity in favor of just region modding the console instead.

cool, go read a different one then. The 32x is great. Don't listen to this angry knucklehead. Im allowed to be angry. I wanted Star Wars excitement, and they gave me some sleepy nonsense instead. When you choose the Atari 2600 starwars games over a newer console, its safe to say they screwed up! I think because of the nature of the 32x, the market is a giant clusterf***. You'll get a good day and find stuff normalpriced, or you'll get a tard day and people will want idiotic amounts. what they shouldve done is slap the hardware into the Saturn (Which has about as much hardware in it as a frigging flashlight, I swear!) and made the saturn have cart and disc games. If sega was going to go under they might as well have done something interesting, hah. This thread reminded me, I got Blackthorne for GBA, and I need to try it.
-
Some of those carts aren't very cheap. Tempo , Kolibri, and Blackthorne for example ain't usually too cheap.... and those are the better games for the library, lol eBay Auction -- Item Number: 130468938605 Something like this would be the best bet for someone getting into 32X. You get the hardware, and Star Bores: The Arcade Game! Really, you need to find someone with a ton of the stuff in one lot that wants to be rid of it.

Why do people misuse the term MIDI in regards to games
Arkhan replied to Arkhan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Closest thing you're going to come to that is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracle_Piano_Teaching_System ...although I wonder if you could hook other MIDI keyboards to it... Probably, not that it would really accomplish much. There are new MIDI carts for systems at least. But officially, not so much. If Contra output MIDI, man thatd rule...! -
Why do people misuse the term MIDI in regards to games
Arkhan replied to Arkhan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It would be really awesome if the NES for example output MIDI natively. Imagine some of those games with an MT-32 hooked up, lol. but seriously, just because its not real instruments doesnt instantly = MIDI. People are so dumb, lol -
I see a lot of YouTube videos of people reviewing games... and when the person goes "YEAH, THIS GAME HAS SOME PRETTY NICE OLDSCHOOL MIDI TUNES", I immediately want to reach into the screen and punch them. Does anyone else get really annoyed about that? Its like they're trying to sound all super hip and technically informed, but end up sounding like morons when they do it.
-
I had fun diddling around with the encryption stuff last night, and yeah it sure does work, lol. Provided you feel like hex editing stuff. I might write a program to do it, but im kinda lazy and dont see the point
-
I saw Odyssey systems , like 5 of them for sale at CCAG in cleveland ohio, and they were boxed, and priced pretty reasonably (100ish moneys each iirc) So, I do not think the eBay shenanigans are reaching the far corners of mother earth.

Anybody completely switch to emulation and not look back?
Arkhan replied to Recycled's topic in Atari 2600
I play on the real hardware for most everything. I dev w/ emulators. I like the real hardware for old stuff since CRTs make the games look better. Plus I got the TV wired through the stereo. Its awesome. -
Im just going to go out on a limb and say basically any game you pick up for the TG/PCE is probably good. Its rare that you find a game that sucks, and even those ones are still pretty fun.
-
cool, go read a different one then.

you have a capital B instead of a lowercase b in the middle of the gameb section.
