I have been eying that Ultima Online guide.
Does anyone here still play UO?
Im playing it right now. Waiting to revive my pet dragon because some idiots don't know what they're doing and got me killed by pulling half a dungeon to a cave I was in, followed by dying.
So, everything attacked me.
-_-;
Most of the free shards suck. Low player base, dodgy stability. People in charge of them sometimes are... not too bright?
There are a few good ones though.

I've been watching URPG like a hawk. So far, nothing tangible.

He's trying to get ALL of the rights to Ultima back, since it IS his stuff.
The only tie EA has to it anymore really, is Ultima Online.
They could rename everything in UO, and noone would know.
Hell most of the players don't even know anything about Ultima. Exodus (new boss battle) to them is just some robot demon thing that drops a pair of leggings that they want.

Great pics. I see he still wears the silver serpent...great.
He still has rights to his alter-ego Lord British. He should put that character back in the Ultimate RPG and put a bit of Ultima references in there without getting into trouble.

Yes, he actually owns it so hard that Lord British was removed from Ultima Online.
Lord Blackthorn is the new king.

The intro to Ultima III is the best one.
'COME WARRIORS, WE MUST SLAY THE MIGHTY DRAGON! CHARRRRRRRGEEEEEE! *fwoooooom*"

I gave this game a shot during beta for a few months straight.
My conclusion:
If you don't like people (And I know I don't!), don't play this game. Just roll up a party on any of the single player wizardry games.
This game DOES play really well, is very beautiful, and has all the elements of a Wizardry game. It's the same pacing, difficulty, and fun factor...
it's just designed so that you have to socialize/party up. Screw that!

I really liked the town layouts, the overall design of everything, and the general play mechanics.
I just hate relying on some idiot to heal me.
However, it's free so, you don't have to invest much to give it a shot and see if you can actually enjoy interacting.
I play Ultima Online. By myself. Other players are irrelevant. I just talk to myself.

Ouya has it's own marketplace. Not the regular Android one.
Marketing a system that upgrades every year is dense. It's just going to skew everything and make a mess.
Treating a home console the same way as tablets/phones is really stupid in general. That's what is going to help destroy gaming.
plus, now I wonder, what is this thing doing that a PC can't already do, aside from hype itself immensely.

I still like watching the lava/water in Ultima. It's really awesome looking.
The Ultima II water is pretty lame though.
It's like, little seizurebubbles.

C is easy. If you can't do C, you shouldn't be making games!

I could never get into the tileset from the IBM versions of Ultima III through V.
Even with the music and new sprties it never felt "warm" to me.
Nothing in my eyes beats the Commodore for those versions and especially the C128's Ultima V with music.
Then the DOS version of Ultima VI which has a lot of warmth to it.
For some reason, I really like the ass-tastic CGA palette in Ultima 2 and 3. It hurts my eyes and makes me want to end my life, but I like it anyways.

Ultima IV had twisters.

No disrespect intended, but, most cannot program assembly or C. Dreamcast has BennuGD which is based off of DIV Games Studio - an early game maker. Also, no flash cart or special hardware is needed to test games as the Dreamcast can take CDRs.
Turbo Grafx-CD can read CDRs.

BlueBMW or thesteve, definitely. I talk to them on a daily basis.
In fact, BMW is holding on to roughly 1000$ worth of hardware of mine that he's fixed/upgraded.... so, I think he's legit.
-
I am choosing to take a console AND a PC, because it really isn't right to narrow it all down since the two types of gaming are fairly different.
So, I would take my Turbo Grafx-16+CD and my DOS computer.
How else am I supposed to play Ultima VII.
With the Dreamcast you can emulate all the rest. Problem solved. Plus, you can make new Dreamcast games if so inclined.
You can make new games for any system.

Check the batteries. Mine used to act retarded with almost dead batteries.
If that doesn't work, it's not dead. It just needs new caps, most likely.
There's plenty of dudes in the PCE scene that will fix it relatively cheap.

This song's pretty cool.

Dude, Solstice's music is so awesome.
Even if you hate the game, play it to hear the tunes.

Yes, and it was a grand stage entrance!!
..Al
man I hope you're serious. lol

Gahhh so jealous.
Richard Garriott is one of those rich dudes that does it right. Rather than basically wipe his ass with 100$ bills and go HARHAHRHR IM RICH, he does all kinds of side things that are actually benefitting people/places in some way.
I need to meet that dude, bad. The fact that he's still wearing that necklace is awesome.
did Ultima come up at all? Any mention of Ultimate RPG?
did he open any moon gates?

Anything in Legacy of the Wizard and Faxanadu and Battle of Olympus.

Turbo Grafx-16 (PC Engine)
Definitely.
Half the shooters or more all have score attack modes.

You could definitely pay me to do that. I'd run in screaming about the guardian invading Texas and tell him that we need to summon Iolo, Shamino, and Dupre to help destroy him.
and then, I can start chanting the mantra to one of the shrines, and someone can bust in dressed up like an Ettin or something.
and then we all get tazed and arrested
LETS GO!

Can't get into Ultima 7

Yeah, well, D&D had level caps too.
the SNES versions of all Ultima games suck.
You need the Quicksword!
Anyway, Ultima VII is a strange game for a few reasons:
1) It's clunky and a bit dopey sometimes. The battle animations look so wonky and unnatural half the time.
2) There's always random sound effects that I think are just the game using midi instruments like xylophones in place of actual sound effects.
3) You have to click alot.
However, the game turns out to be really fun and has alot of really great stuff to experience. You just have to give it some time.
Plus, if Ultima 3 is one of your favorites, Serpent Isle is like the sequel to that, basically.
