  1. I have no modernized devices or cables of any kind.
  2. I don't have any SIO devices to make that with so I can use it. But looking at that - does this mean the copy I have of the game is not compatible with XL/XE A8s?
  3. I am in the US, but I wouldn't have any spare funds for you to ship it.
  4. How do I check that? And I'm not sure how that could be - I've ran other software fine - I came across a copy of SUSPENDED, loose in this box of disks that came with the Atari, and you have to do the same thing - turn the drive on, insert the disk, close the drive, then hold Option before turning the computer on. And then it(SUSPENDED) runs fine. Nothing else I've used the drive for has given me a problem. I've got other disks with BASIC programs on them, and it loads and saves those with no issue.
  5. OK well I looked up how to check this - PRINT PEEK(65527). So with BASIC loaded, I typed this in directly and pressed RETURN. I got a result of 2. According to the chart on AtariWiki, that means I have "XL/XE OS Rev 2". What does that mean for this situation? I'm kinda bummed it's not working, it used to be one of my favorites in the arcade. Even though this port might not be the greatest thing, or even look close to the arcade.
  6. The game will run, via the normal way - holding Option, and then turning the 800XL on - but only so far. It gets to the title screen, and then after a moment, the drive will stop, and either will go to a black screen afterwards, or will stay stuck on the title screen. I don't know what could be wrong. I know the drive works, because I've used it to load other programs and games before, and it worked fine. This is the first problem I've ever had.
  7. Your welcome! They were actually a bit too big for my scanner too, so I just scanned each one twice, once for each half, and then put the halves together in GIMP. They aren't perfect, but hopefully they work for people. I can put them in PDFs too, if that's needed or wanted.
  8. OK, here are scans I made, 300 DPI: AT-FS2 Flight Reference Card Important Notice sheet Chicago Area Chart Seattle Area Chart Los Angeles Area Chart New York and Boston Area Chart FS2_Scans.zip
  9. If someone needs scans of the charts that are supposed to come in the retail box, I can try to make those. The person who gave me my Atari recently brought a copy of FSII to me, said it should have been in the box with everything else. It has 4 charts on 2 sheets with it. Charts are for Los Angeles area, Seattle area, New York and Boston area, and Chicago area
  10. I didn't know there was such a thing. seems like that might work though, for people without other 80 col solutions.
  11. I had a thought - Talisman is on Atarimania: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-talisman_21095.html It's listed with a "PD/Freeware/Shareware" license. Could we not rip it apart and use it for our own purposes? Of course, we'd have to give credit to the programmer of Talisman, but still...
  12. I'm probably with TIX on the vest, the blue looks fine.
  13. Agreed! I think you definitely have something worth finishing there.
  14. I actually finally got the Mastertronic version working in Altirra. It's an OK version, but it could do without the cursor movement though. I was still confused about gameplay - I could not figure out how to use any of the items I picked up, how to change equipment, or how to attack the monsters that I encountered. And none of this info was in the instruction sheet, so....I kinda just gave up on trying to play further.
  15. So, I am guessing that the verdict would be that unless you have a large amount of RAM(the U1MB seems like it might be enough for it) in your A8, then Rogue in its original state is probably not possible? Unless maybe it went on a cart that supplied its own RAM solely for the use of the program? I don't know if cart games do that though.
  16. So, just for kicks, I wrote a kinda small BASIC program filled with print commands, and a few pokes and colors - to make this "mock screen". Why can't ROGUE on A8 look like this? I'd think it'd be much simpler to program probably? I've seen the ones by Epyx, and by Mastertronic(though I could not get the Mastertronic version working properly) - and they look nothing like what I remember Rogue to be. I also took a look at A-ROGUE, which was listed in an issue of Antic(Vol. 6, Issue 1) - and it doesn't play very well. There doesn't seem to be any "room" structures, it's just a massive maze of hallways, and I don't get it. I couldn't even find the way to the next floor. Making a version of ROGUE that's all ATASCII can't be that hard, can it? Feels like it would be easier than trying to draw all those fancy graphics sprites.
  17. umm...hmmm...Actually, I've been playing this for a bit recently, and I'm not sure if I would recommend it anymore. If other's like it, that's great, to each their own. But I'll probably make another thread concerning it, so I don't de-rail this one.
  18. A-ROGUE! http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-a-rogue_337.html
  19. try turning the potentiometer to adjust the color output
  20. Your welcome! Glad to help somehow.
  21. Do you have any free container options where you live? Here in the US, you can get or order online, boxes and envelopes of various sizes for free straight from the USPS. You can either get straight from the post office one or a few at a time, or order in bulk online, and your mail delivery person will bring them to your door.
  22. how do you make the POKEY output stereo? Is it maybe working how the NES does it? The NES actually has 2 channels for audio, but the mainboard is designed so that the 2 channels merge before they get to the audio output plug and the sound comes out as Mono. But if you solder directly to the pins for the 2 channels and give each pin their own plug, then you can make the chip output audio in Stereo. Can the same thing be done in an A8 on the POKEY chip?
