@Swami I read your whole post and you bring up a lot of great points.

@RxScram can you please tell John Alvarado so he can be pleased with me ?

    😁

    @Swami

"EDIT: Uggh, you could write a book on this. "

It looks like you just did....😅🤣😂😆

But seriously that was a well thought out post and I was actually able to get through it even though I have a short attention span.

John Alvarado is no longer (nor was he ever really) disappointed in you.

(He asked me to make sure that you knew he wasn't actually disappointed in you when he let me use his slack quote yesterday. I thought that might make you feel better. 🙂 )

This is a question better answered by @RxScram!

    Hi @Pathfinder!

We are using a universal power supply (120/240V, 50/60Hz), so all you will need is a travel adapter! We pull less than 1 amp at either 120 or 240, so there shouldn't be any need for a heavy duty version.

Also, I believe (but this may have changed) that for FE editions only (not VIP) we will be supplying travel adapters for all of the international orders. I will confirm and get back to you on that.

One thing I really dread about this forum is those super long posts.  Troll or Shill I can't get through them in one read...

    I get bored or distracted.

There's one over on the other  forum and I'm like do I have to read it?

I feel like I'm back in college.

I thought I was done with reading dissertations.

It's nothing against those who write them and it really is a flaw of mine so I understand it's a "my bad" situation.

But I will say if I dont respond to any posts its probably because I got bored and has nothing to do with anyone's points or validity.

I do feel guilty but only a little.

    🙂

John Alvarado is disappointed in you.

Will that sorcery work for turning it off, too?

With current systems, I've always thought turning the thing on was as simple as pressing the button on the controller, but never really thought about powering on by pressing the button on the console since I figured I'd still have to press the controller button to turn it on before it can do anything.  Never occurred to me that it could have caused confusion.  Turning them off, though, seems to involve a wee bit of trickery.  Seems like you have to hold a button, navigate menus, and power down / suspend that way.   My PS4 likes to bitch at me if it's ever powered down any other way (or a power outage happens)   With the Amico, will it be as simple as pressing that button to power off old school style, or will the OS require a "proper shut down procedure" to avoid any data loss/corruption/other reason?

Push the button, console goes night night. 🙂

In the "independent thread," Tommy mentioned this --

"I'm totally being serious... my dad can NOT turn the PS4 on.  And I always forget which side the ON button is as well.  And that should tell you a LOT!  Gaming machines have become SO complicated that the average person can't even TURN THEM ON! "

Apologies if it's been explained already, but that peaked my curiosity.  What, if anything, is different on the Amico that makes it easier to power on than the others?   I googled it but found info on Amico Mig Welders instead  😁

The power button is actually visible

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunately the system doesn't come bundled with friends and all of mine are busy raising kids at the moment.  I'm gonna hold out for if it ever gets online VS modes.  The games look amazing..i'm really bummed about this online thing

    oh well

    Enjoy!  It looks amazing!

That's too bad!  Do your friends ever visit with their kids? Game night get-together with kids and adults? Almost all of the games also have great single player options.

I’m thinking if getting another console and keeping my FE closed. I’m wondering how much the extra controllers will cost. I’m not looking for an exact price but more like $30 ? $50 ? Tommy ? I’m buying extra controllers anyway so I may just get an extra system or 2 and use those controllers. Any estimate for the controller price ? 2 pack ?

Nothing official, as it depends on total number built, etc. Probably along the lines of $40 each, and maybe they'll have a bundle pack available for less than the price of 2. I think Tommy has also hinted that there might be an external charger on the way, post 2020.

If the controllers vibrate you could technically do this.

You know what, don't. No. I don't even want to think about where people will be sticking these things.

So, true story... I was testing all of the haptics effects available with the haptics controller. Most of them are "cool!... yeah, interesting... nice!" type of effects. But then I get to effect number 118, and it's like a super powerful, very long effect... about 10 seconds, full on shaking your hand because the haptics are buzzing so hard. In my write-up on the various effects, I recommended against using that particular effect. Wrong industry.

    @LordRayken

Hi.  I like you.  And you certainly outrank me a lowly Baron.

For the record, a "Lord" is any member of the peerage... including Barons. Also, depending on the usage, Lord could also be a courtesy title for the younger children of senior members of the peerage (2nd/3rd sons of dukes, etc.) So... in no way does he automatically outrank you. 🙂

Plus, any fan of John Alvarado automatically gets 2 promotions above their actual title. (Not an official rule, but it should be.)

I thought the buttons on the controllers had lights which could change color so it would be more about "hit the red button to fire" sort iof thing.  Which button is the red button? Any of them could be it.  Holding it horizontally to the right the ones at the top could be lit up red.  Horizontally to the left would have those top buttons red. Vertically could be the touchscreen lighting up red. Vertically upside down maybe the disk lights up red.

I could be wrong but that is how I imagine it will be.

Oh and any game could change any color at any time.

I maybe totally wrong but that's what I thought.

Yep, exactly! To pretty much all of it!

I have a huge question about this Lord Rayken.

What is he a Lord of?

Did the Queen give him the title of Lord or is he from The House of Lords?

Perhaps he is from another European country which still has nobility .

    So many unanswered questions.

    I wish I was nobility.

I would be Baron Von Garvey - I'd wear a red scarf and a monocle every where and have a cigarette on a long stick like they did in the old days.

Oh and have a coat draped over my shoulders but not actually on me.

Maybe he got his lordship through here... https://establishedtitles.com/products/lordship-title-pack

    @RxScram

A question or two for you if I may....

Do you ever dream or hope to one day go to Mars yourself?

If you were to go to Mars, would you try to re-create the "Office Space printer scene" on that Mars Rover?

For the longest time, I dreamt about doing just that... but, what kid doesn't dream of going into space? In my adult life, not so much.

Why would I want to do the office space printer scene on the rover? They have all been some of the most incredible, durable, and amazing machines ever built by man. Spirit and Opportunity had 90 day mission warranty. They made 6 and 14 years, respectively. Well above the call of duty.

The curiosity rover had a 2 year warranty, and is still going very strong 8 years after landing. More than likely, its wheel treads will breakdown before anything else.

The mars 2020 rover (officially named Perseverance now) is essentially using the Curiosity chassis, and was scheduled to launch summer of this year. I imagine that may change and be delayed a couple of years until the next launch window, given Covid-19. This is the rover I worked on.
