Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
RxScram replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
They will be pre-loaded. That's actually a good idea about the last one being a choice. If it did happen, it would be a limited selection (would exclude any of the licensed games, for example). I also imagine that some of the negotiations that go into selecting the pre-loaded games would mandate that all 5-6 of them be firmly established as pack-ins. (The pack-ins know that they will get a larger install base than other games, for example, so maybe they will be more flexible in initial terms.) I'm just guessing about this though, I'm "just" a hardware guy. 🙂 -

There are currently no plans to make online multiplayer part of the Amico experience. For a variety of reasons... 1. It adds tremendous difficulty in the game development. It's "easy" to adjust for local latency from different controllers, but if you're trying to play against another console then the difficulty grows exponentially. 2. It is impossible to ensure the safety and family friendly nature of the Amico if multiplayer connection to somebody else is allowed. Even if actual communication isn't allowed, something as simple as a username could contain something that wouldn't be family friendly. I'm sure Intellivision would try to screen that out, but why risk it? 3. It gets away from the mission... bringing people together in their own living room. -

Man, I can't wait to see this video! I do know that the music on it is really kick-ass though! More than once in the last couple of weeks I've been drawn out of my lair to find out where the really sweet music is coming from, only to catch the last 30 seconds of the video. (The INTV office has a pretty decent sound system in the back warehouse area!) -

Wow, I might be a bit prejudiced about how awesome @Tommy Tallarico is, but this is just another level... how many CEOs are that open to feedback and to changing something as major as a color/style name!? -

I'm envisioning more of something like a Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime subscription. (With Kindle Unlimited, you can download 10 ebooks at a time, but once you hit 10 you have to return one to check out another.) A prime subscription could let people try out any single game for a month, but then if they wanted to play it after the month was up they would have to purchase it. Maybe with a discount, maybe not. An Amico Unlimited subscription ($10/month?) might let people have 5-10 games on their machine (in addition to anything actually purchased). This wouldn't be as critical early on, but after 6 months or a year when there are 60+ games in the Amico store it would appear to be a killer deal for the consumer. -

It seems to me that they will want to avoid this. A big part of the physical games is probably to give retailers an additional reason to carry the console in the store... think "store exclusives". Yeah, the retailers are making decent money on the console sales (especially compared to the big 3), but IE is, for now, an unknown player. If IE can say to the retailer "Hey, look. I've got this $30 physical media game you can sell, and it only costs you $10", suddenly the retailer is a lot more interested in the console and all of its associated merchandise. If IE also says to them "This physical game is exclusive to your store, no other retailer has access to it", then the store executive is going to be begging for the system. -

Hey Willy, Each FE unit is getting hand packed by Intellivision, since they all require signatures on the console and posters. They will make sure that the correct power plug type (or at least an adapter) is included, based on the shipping address. -

I tried searching for "Amicoclub" in the Google Play store (no spaces), and it came as the top result. Searching for 2 words did not work.
