Just kidding.
I saw that one and he's great too but I will admit to rewatching that video and skipping to when you talk to John Alvarado.
I love that John Alvarado tells you he reached out for a job before you all were even hiring.
Also his reasons for joining were very pertinent and interesting.
Also his t shirt.
Also his review of his awesome app for the controller.
Sorry RxScram.
I can only be a groupie to one of you.
I'm Team John Alvarado all the way!!!!
😆
Hey, no reason to be sorry... Hell, I'm a John Alvarado fan myself!
Here's a secret... he's a really awesome guy! Part cyborg though!

Tommy: "We don't have online gaming"
WHAT!?!?!???
No online multiplayer Baseball? Hockey? Sea Battle? Biplanes? Football? Tank Battle? Cornhole? the list goes ON AND ON...
Was this a decision made somewhat recently? I remember posting on the Intellivision Facebook page about a year ago and was told that online multiplayer was definitely going to be a thing.
Tommy, say it isn't so!
There are currently no plans to make online multiplayer part of the Amico experience. For a variety of reasons...
1. It adds tremendous difficulty in the game development. It's "easy" to adjust for local latency from different controllers, but if you're trying to play against another console then the difficulty grows exponentially.
2. It is impossible to ensure the safety and family friendly nature of the Amico if multiplayer connection to somebody else is allowed. Even if actual communication isn't allowed, something as simple as a username could contain something that wouldn't be family friendly. I'm sure Intellivision would try to screen that out, but why risk it?
3. It gets away from the mission... bringing people together in their own living room.

I'll say.... 53.
I'll take the under bet on that. However, in 20 minutes I'll take the over.

Man, I can't wait to see this video! I do know that the music on it is really kick-ass though! More than once in the last couple of weeks I've been drawn out of my lair to find out where the really sweet music is coming from, only to catch the last 30 seconds of the video. (The INTV office has a pretty decent sound system in the back warehouse area!)

I'm originally from rural Nevada... to me, cornhole isn't a family friendly word either!

I might be a bit prejudiced about how awesome @Tommy Tallarico is, but this is just another level... how many CEOs are that open to feedback and to changing something as major as a color/style name!?
Can I have a raise?

Ever since @GrudgeQ rightfully brought up the ivory/elephant thing... it's been bugging me ever since. So thank you for bringing it up.
I was worried that the white isn't glossy anymore and when I think of glaciers they are glossy, icy, wet. Me, our Mechanical Engineer (Slade) and our VP of Global Marketing (Cara) were going back and forth on e-mail at midnight last night. Slade reminded me that the silver highlights and the fact that the white paint is a fine metallic would still give off a glacier kind of feeling. Cara always liked the Glacier White name as well so we decided to keep it as is.So Glacier White it is!
Thanks to GrudgeQ for helping to steer the decision making process!

1 hour ago, Lathe26 said:Tommy, since there has been a tentative talk about supporting the original Intellivision game cartridges, will the Amico also support the Kiosk Multiplexer for the Intellivision? It let's you plug in 10 Intellivision cartridges. There are like 5 known to exist in the world so supporting the Kiosk Multiplexer could help you really rake in the dough.
No!
Although maybe I'll make an adapter off the clock...

You pay 150 you get all the releases that year? Just spit balling, either way I'll likely buy 90% of the games released. I just know reoccurring revenue from a subscription model is the holy grail, its the whole reason I got into business/govt software. Reoccurring revenue baby..
I'm envisioning more of something like a Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime subscription. (With Kindle Unlimited, you can download 10 ebooks at a time, but once you hit 10 you have to return one to check out another.)
A prime subscription could let people try out any single game for a month, but then if they wanted to play it after the month was up they would have to purchase it. Maybe with a discount, maybe not.
An Amico Unlimited subscription ($10/month?) might let people have 5-10 games on their machine (in addition to anything actually purchased). This wouldn't be as critical early on, but after 6 months or a year when there are 60+ games in the Amico store it would appear to be a killer deal for the consumer.

With the physical games, will they be sold on the IE website as well? Also will some of the physical games be exclusive to the IE website?
It seems to me that they will want to avoid this. A big part of the physical games is probably to give retailers an additional reason to carry the console in the store... think "store exclusives". Yeah, the retailers are making decent money on the console sales (especially compared to the big 3), but IE is, for now, an unknown player. If IE can say to the retailer "Hey, look. I've got this $30 physical media game you can sell, and it only costs you $10", suddenly the retailer is a lot more interested in the console and all of its associated merchandise. If IE also says to them "This physical game is exclusive to your store, no other retailer has access to it", then the store executive is going to be begging for the system.

I asked you in january about the power plugs coming with Founders Edition (to Europe). Did you asked your tech guys? Thanks.
Hey Willy,
Each FE unit is getting hand packed by Intellivision, since they all require signatures on the console and posters. They will make sure that the correct power plug type (or at least an adapter) is included, based on the shipping address.

He incorrectly entered his e-mail address into our system when he contacted us! So when we immediately replied (within 24 hours of his request) we never heard back.
Simple mistake on his part.
I would say under the circumstances... maybe a little unfair to say our customer service is "non-existent".
Tommy,
You really should train your guys to be psychic. I'm disappointed in you, man.

Still waiting for it to show up on the Google Play Store. It's already been approved days ago... and we "flicked the switch"... just waiting (which is why the e-mail blast and social media posts haven't gone out yet).
I tried searching for "Amicoclub" in the Google Play store (no spaces), and it came as the top result. Searching for 2 words did not work.

They will be pre-loaded.
That's actually a good idea about the last one being a choice. If it did happen, it would be a limited selection (would exclude any of the licensed games, for example). I also imagine that some of the negotiations that go into selecting the pre-loaded games would mandate that all 5-6 of them be firmly established as pack-ins. (The pack-ins know that they will get a larger install base than other games, for example, so maybe they will be more flexible in initial terms.) I'm just guessing about this though, I'm "just" a hardware guy. 🙂
