I had made a few demo videos on some basic features using disk edtasm for the coco ..look on my channel for other videos as well. These are examples for beginners using simple code. Once you get started in assembly it's not that hard to do.

Can you measure the voltages on the ram socket 4 corners ? And yes the main caps have to be good as it changes ac to d c voltage and uses thoose caps to smooth out the power .

Oh, and let us know when you change that cap.. cause voltages being unstable cause crashes

Out of curosity measured from ground on the rf can.. what voltages do you have on each corner of the ram chip socket ?

If you like doing electronic projects it would be neat seeing it work on cga.. it wont be easy though..

I would say its not a good ram to use I am not a expert on the coco1.. but some of those old ram chips used 3 voltages 12v -5v +5 v

Putting square pegs in round holes in not a problem... but i think cga is ttl and vga is analog. Could be done but its work

There is a easy to install device called the cocovga., you basically sandwich it under you vdg chip and it provides clear vga output for your coco 1 , coco2.. I can't remember what happens when a cga is connected to a vga output..:) but its easy to find nice vga flatscreens for $15

Games using artifact colors show up as black and white on rgb .. but i have been patching many games to have color.. check out this video of the ultimate color hack for coco3 rgb and composite

Yes cocosdc uses a sd card that you can drop into your pc and move files back and forth. It's a versatile device.. i believe it can even use a coco harddrive image.. Drivewire is good too but i prefer the coco to not be dependant on another machine.

Good job ! Your eyes are the best tool for these old systems to find problems.. Speaking of which..try and get setup to use the rgb out for a sharp nice color picture..if you can't find a cm8 or other rgb , try going from rgb to hdmi..( switcheroo cable )

There is alot going on for the coco3 ! More mem and sdc are a must. , so is using the rgb out.. hands down the best picture. There are rgb to hdmi setups ( cocoman.biz ) if you prefer.. People are back online with their cocos.. Nitros-09 ease of use ( L.Curtis Boyle ) is the most capable os. Its a updated os 9.. If you are good at desoldering , i would of course socket the cpu and put a 6309.. gives the coco better performance ..faster games.. Gunstar for the coco3 was written by nick marentes and will only run on 6309. And my game Space Pirate Kimiko ( anime space adventure ) is also written for 6309..:)
