  1. I won an Intellivison off Ebay yesterday and picked it up today. I believe that the people who sold it to me where some of the nicest people I've ever met. They were in Calgary and when they saw that I was too they emailed me saying I shouldn't have to pay for shipping and asked me to phone them so that I could arrange to pick it up. How cool is that? I bought this Intellivision with the intention of passing it on to a friend for a birthday gift (I don't know when that is, but I imagine it's got to be sometime in the future :dunce:). Anyway I thought it was going cheap so I bought it, because he's into Intellivision. I'm really into Atari and Coleco, and had no plans to collect for anything else. Having a different system in my hands though I thought I'd give it a try. I'm liking it so far, and I'm wondering if maybe I should be greedy and just keep it for myself. Probably bad Karma. Anyway will someone please make me a list of the best games to play for it? I might try and pick up a few more titles. I'm only worried I'm going to like it to much and not want to give it away! :D

The games I have now are:

    Pitfall!

    Venture

    Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack

    Astrosmash

    Space Hawk

    Royal Dealer

    Armor Battle

    Major League Baseball

    Star Strike

    Frog Bog

    Advanced Dungeons & Dragons

    Space Spartans

    B-17 Bomber

    Bomb Squad

    Lock 'n' Chase

    Horse Racing

    Auto Racing

    Tron Deadly Discs

    Sea Battle

    Donkey Kong

    Mission X

I got the voice module too, but haven't tried it yet.

  2. I got my games in the good old rubbermaid bin with the end labels up. The games are divided by company and type and stored in a ziplock bag by threes. While I'll go to play one title I'll sometimes end up playing all three, because the storage bag is already open. Good way to try games I guess. Collecting wise I'm still buying small lots as well as individual titles depending on what I need. I'll go for a big lot if there's several titles I need, but tend to shy away if there's a lot of filler crap. Probably the best thing to do is get an emulator and try some different games to know which ones you want to buy.

  3. However, all Zellers titles have properly spelled and comprehensible names (no Sparker Gardon, Reever Raad, or Peetfal), which may hint that the company didn't just purchase a bunch of random carts, but somehow influenced their production.

I've been wondering about these weird names. Are they badly translated titles by the Taiwanese or are they from an actual langauge?

  4. Also Rom, I was talking with another member today who said his Ocean City Defender looks like the screenshot in the AA database with Imagic been written at the bottom of the screen. From what I read in these threads it was one company (who no one knows much about) producing a lot of carts for other companies. It was pointed out to me that Zellers could have stopped using the Imagic rom halfway through distribution to avoid lawsuits and copied the Funvision rom instead. My own idea (stuck in my head) is that a lot of these games seem mish-mashed put together however they could, by whatever was left over. I've seen label variations on Atariguide that have Inca Gold labels for Bank Heist etc. Does anyone have any credible information about the main distributor?

  5. Rom Hunter, I'm not sure if this will help or hinder but...

I have an Ocean City Defender cart (NTSC) that I bought loose on eBay from an American seller. It looks exactly like the Zellers cart only that the ROM is strange. In the AA database the game says Imagic on the bottom of the screenshot while my cart clearly displays Funvision. Atariguide displays a similar screenshot. Since I got it loose who is to say who actually made or distributed this cart? I would lean more to it not being an actual Zellers cart just because it's from the USA. What I have to offer you though is that I've been looking at the cart all day trying to determine if there's an another label underneath the front label. I won't peel it up, but if there was a label underneath it would have to be damn thin as there are no ridges showing. Anyway Rom I hope this helps a little. I know you were inquiring with Marco so if this is really a PAL question then I can't help.

  6. I guess... I never stiffed anyone on an auction or a BIN... For anyone here from AA that has sold me anything, payment almost always comes within minutes if not hours, and if I had to delay a payment, I have always been courteous as to telling the seller what day I would be making payment.

I feel the same way. I can understand money orders taking time in the mail, but not responding to emails for a week or two about money owed? :?

He has perfect feedback.  He is in New Jersey.  The money order should have arrived by now unless he put down the wrong address or zip code.

Based on his feedback I probably would try to call him prior to leaving a negative.  I get a lot of deadbeats but usually the buyers with perfect feedback usually do pay.

    Good point about the feedback.

  7. That sounds bad. Road_runner why would eBay not let him use Paypal? I am unfamiliar with using money orders. Does that have something to do with marking the payment as sent on his end? I really see no choice as but to leave a Neg, take a Neg, and relist. You've put up with enough.

  8. Generally I don't bid without an actual picture of the item if it is likely to be in rough shape anyhow (i.e. Activision carts). Depends really on what it is. Sometimes I only care whether or not if it works, other times I need a mint copy. If you really want to know the condition just ask the seller to send you some pictures. Most will do so I find, and if they don't... well it's like a box of chocolates.

  9. Yeaaaahh!!! I love this game. Ze_ro you got the switches backwards. Switch B controls the accelerated/normal mode and switch A toggles between manual and autofire. I never even knew this game had an expert mode until this week either. The expert mode has a ufo that goes across the top of the screen dropping bombs on you that the normal mode doesn't (unless it's in the higher stages). I played three quick games and for a first post got 3,550 .

  10. Damn! I was hoping no one would choose this game until I got my turn. Oh well I'll just have to enjoy it know. :D IMO the only way to really play this game is with the paddles. The joystick just doesn't move your base fast enough. We should be allowed to use both though, because some people don't have a good working set of paddles readily available.
