1. I played it and enjoyed it. Loved the Intro. If you died when the ooze hit the bottom that would make it better. A paddle verision would be fun if your ship fired faster and the slime fell faster from a higher point. The intensity would really ramp up!
2. I wonder if Zellers would be interested in selling games again?
3. I just been playing the Asteroids white vector hack and enjoying it immensely. Will there ever be a cart released that has all the different hacks in it? Don't know if this is legally possible, but it sure would be nice to toggle between the different hacks with the game select switch. Is it even possible to fit all this on a 8kb cart?
4. Always wondered what those round stickers were for. I got a Tennis with that French text in a lot recently. Didn't know activision made those until then.
5. Yeah get a dogbone controller. They are so sweet (and comfortable on your hands!). One of my favourite contollers.
6. Hmmmm, I ususally grab about 5 or 6 games for a half hour session. Atari games require dexterity and reflexes over a lot of thinking to reach high scores. Most times I prefer playing a bunch of short games rather than focusing on one long one.
7. On my box I have a combat cart leaning against the 4 switch 2600 woody with the end label blacked out. Perhaps though your cart turned to the dark side of the Atari.
8. I've been playing Jr. Pac-Man on and off for the past week. Just trying to get past one maze at a time until I get the patterns down. This game has stood the test of time and got better with age IMO. I'm loving it.
9. Yep. They were cheap. They only time they actually re-shot the box art was for the "vader" model -- that does actually show a real vader. All prior models showed some odd variant of the "heavy" set. 907182 It was interesting seeing the pictures on the box. Sort of like a little mini time-capsule. I swear I had the same shirt as the kid pictured above the right joystick.
10. Is there a brand name for that foam cleaner you use? That's a good idea about the N64 joystick. Mine loosened up right away and made it a lot harder to control. So all you got to do is put a little white grease in a new joystick and it won't wear?
11. If you take a close look at the box, you will see that the 4 switch panel is super-imposed over the 6 switch panel. Was probably a lot cheaper than making a whole new box. 907057 Them cheap bastards! I was hoping I had something unique here. All in all though I'm just glad I have a box now.
12. I got a 2600 4 switch woody in the mail today and it came with the box. Why does the picture on the box show a 4 switcher with molding like a heavy sixer? Are they all like this? The system I got is just like any other 4 switcher with the angled molding, but the picture on the box most definitely has molding like that of a heavy sixer. I couldn't find any scans of system boxes on AA.
13. The guy could have walked the parcel to your house and back in that amount of time lol. At least you finally got it. This is good stuff so far. I think I'll post in my auctions that it will take 2-4 weeks to ship to the USA. Most of the auctions I win are from the US and I'm used to a 2-3 week shipping time. I was concerned that an American buyer might be upset if they had to wait a long time for shipping. Now I have a good idea how long shipping is actually taking, and 2-3 weeks sounds reasonable to me. If somebody Negs me for slow shipping then there's not much I can do. Is there anything that makes a auction more attractive for an American buyer that I should know about? Are there any particular things American buyers watch out for that maybe stops them from bidding or makes them decide to bid?
14. mcgrail0007 did you notice if the packages that took 2-3 weeks were coming from a certain area in Canada or were they just opened up by customs?
15. I've been thinking about selling some stuff on Ebay lately, and I've been wondering if I can get your feedback on how long stuff is really taking to be shipped from Canada to the USA. If anyone could post what the best shipping options are, and any helpful tidbits you have I would appreciate it. I hope to hear from both Canadians and Americans. Thank you!
16. I use rubbing alcohol and distilled water if need be, but I'm sure there's a better way. I read somewhere in here about a guy sticking the shell in the dishwasher to clean it, but I'm not that brave. I find an older style toothbrush (the ones with flat bristles) are good for getting into the grooves of a 2600. Q-tips work well too.
17. I'm absolutely amazed that you got it to work at all. Perhaps my Coleco will still function in two hundred years when they dig it out of the dump. I'm going to go get me a shovel, and if I'm really lucky I'll score some E.T. carts too.
18. I'll have to check out a Toys'R'Us. Zeller's don't seem to have them (at least at the one I went to) 904423 There's some irony...buying new Atari warez at Zellers...should ask them if they have any cartridges to go with it 904481 I wonder whatever happened to all those unsold Zellers Pirate Carts... I wonder if they'll show up at some thrift store like the old KMart stock did years ago. Would be a very nice find! 904485 Aye, They had to go somewhere. Somebody is sitting on a treasure chest. Excellent! * rubs hands together in eagerly in greedy anticipation *
19. I'm intrigued to pick up a copy of this game to see how bad it really is. I don't enjoy collecting crap, but I did keep my E.T. cartridge just to make every other game look good. Damn those pits!
20. i took the CV with me when i moved out of my mom's place...but i left the boxes in the attic. i know those are long gone now. 906634 Too bad about the boxes. I sure wish I had taken my Coleco with me. I was able to rescue the Nes and SNES though.
21. Hello, Welcome to AA! I feel for you having to spend time in the hospital. I've probably spent a good three months of my life in a hospital, and it can be so boring! No wonder you were itching to play your Atari. I never owned an Atari growing up, but my cousin had a 2600 we used to play. Combat, Asteroids, Pitfall!, Junglehunt, Pac-Man, Indy 500, Frogger, Yars' Revenge, and Pole Position filled our days. His parents had to literally drag me away from it all the time. I got a Colecovision for Christmas a few years later which my brother and I spent many enjoyable hours on. That story ended in tragedy though with my father throwing away the Coleco thinking it was junk. Now it's resting in the Calgary dump with a few thousand other systems waiting to be dug up in a couple hundred years. We got a Nes and Super Nes after that, and quite frankly I would have forgotten all about Atari until I discovered computer emulation a little while ago. After the memories started coming back from playing all the classics I knew I had to have an Atari. Now I have a meager (but proud of) collection of about 70 or so Atari games, and a recently bought Colecovision that's in the mail. It's a great feeling finally being able to have all those games you wanted as a kid even if it is 20+ years overdue!
22. I forgot Marble Craze. That's a fun game too. You need a set of paddles to play it, and two sets of paddles for two players. It's more than worth it though!
23. Track & Field altough it's not to common. It is one of the best 2600 games and completely non-violent ( except for how hard you have to mash the joystick! ).
24. The Coleco felt so much more advanced then the 2600. I remembered being blown away by the graphics when I first saw it. I'd have to say that it was the first next gen system for me. Venture, Donkey Kong, and Smurf: Rescue from Gargamel's I remembered playing at Christmas when we got our Coleco. Just bought one off Ebay and it's in the mail. Can't wait. BTW is there anyone out there whose father didn't throw out their Colecovision thinking it was junk?
25. I also believe the PS1 will be remembered as a classic (grainy graphics or not), and maybe even one day there will be a homebrewing community out there swapping shareware for game engines etc. Atarifever I think you got it dead one with the N64 ending up like the Coleco.
