I already pointed this out personally. You may have missed it after posting too much bacon 🤡

I completely agree with you and ColecoJoe - the thread needs some clean up. But I will say, inviting people here to see if they can attempt to discuss their actual issues isn't a bad thing. He showed what a lot of haters show - no logic, and attention seeking. It's on the person if they can't make a cogent point after being given a real, moderated platform. Trolls, haters, etc. can be reasoned with and turned around if you can get through to them. That's what Tommy has done on several occasions.
-
I invited him here because he was spamming the Amico subreddit with hateful comments about censorship and announcing how important he was by being "invited" here to talk to Tommy. Even though I told him to come here and take up his grievances directly. And guess what? The guy aired how hateful he was on here and made it public how silly he was. The guy has been all over for months trying to force interviews with Tommy and finding ways to write blogposts negatively about him and the Amico. You should probably just let people do what they want to do instead of literally, now, commanding someone to do as you will. No one can make anyone stop commenting or responding to vile, hateful posters or commentators. He literally just posted that the initial feedback for Amico was 80% negative until he targeted the haters and figured out how to communicate with them or get through to them. Allowing really uneducated hateful vitriol to multiply or get spammed all over without dealing with it is a recipe for disaster for a fledgling company. Social media/PR is part of Tommy's job.

You're speaking to a veteran of the Cat-Bun wars. Which was much more intense than the Taco Wars. That's a picture of me in the middle for proof. (real footage)

I'll have to check that out closer after work. That's crazy.

I think Coleco vs Intv was a much more fair battle. Those consoles always struck me more as a "2.5 generation" whereas the 2600 was more outdated. Of course, the 2600's stranglehold kept it around longer though. Really? That happened? What the heck haha

... ColecoVision vs Intellivision. 🤡

ColecoJoe remains the sworn enemy of IntellivisionTommy

"well balanced" "great potential for games" "versatility that Atari offers" """custom cooling system""" "I ESPECIALLY ENVY THE UI THAT GOT PORTALS WITH THE SPEED LOADING"

What I see is John P: Left: I can't wait to get my Atari VCS, keep up the good work guys Right: It wouldn't be in your best interest to screw us Atari!!.... you won't like the consequences...

"Wrongthink" is a pretty horrible, nearly damning word. I wouldn't use it here. What I think we're dealing with, and you can disagree freely, is the CEO of a company sending out free swag to promote his product with the hardcore crowd before any real marketing begins for the casual sector. And I don't think that's out of the norm for any company. In fact that's par for the course. It would be odd if at this point no one was getting any promotional material on Youtube. It would almost be remiss of the company. What's happened, pretty much exactly, is no one is really sure what to make of the Amico. I wasn't. I had no idea and was really confused. At first glance it looks like it may be another flop "retro game console" to add to the pile. Of course that sounds better on Youtube, too. Youtube sensation = makes negative clickbait video = make money on ad revenue. I think Tommy is recognizing the lack of marketing out there, and going to these people and saying "Hey this is actually what it is." People are then saying "okay, I thought it was something else entirely." If he's got the free time and it's HIS product, this early on in the development, let him have at it. I don't know if you watch CUPodcast but Pat and Ian are the most egregious examples of what happens when negative thinking is allowed to fester. It is LITERALLY "wrong think." What they think about Amico is wrong and they won't discuss otherwise. They've gone from saying Amico won't sell, to now saying that Amico has no audience because anyone can buy and use a PS4. And everyone in their comment section all repeat what they say because they say it. Like gospel. You can surely understand how Tommy, or anyone working at Intellivision, may want to curb that right now if it's within their ability. Again, this is entirely the fault of the lack of marketing. Tommy knows, so that's why he's seeking out smaller youtubers in the hardcore crowd himself. That's also why he's here.

How did these kinds of people find this and back it? The comments are hilarious. I honestly feel kind of bad that that UI is what has people excited about this "exciting project"

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

I'm pretty impressed they showed anything at all, but the UI is really really poor and the console's lineup looks so barebones. -
Does anyone take this guy seriously?

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Pre-production? So they aren't in actual production yet? Do we have any way of knowing how many of these are being made? The pictures they took could be a dozen and that's all that are even manufactured right now. Pre-production could take months. And the OS is a WIP build... So in no ways final. -
Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Can't break all this down right now but I think a virtual pet/tomagotchi would be an amazing Amico exclusive. It could be some kind of a Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing mixture with the child or even adult caring for a virtual pet in the controller as well as on screen. Maybe the pet has it's own enclosure like Seaman had (Dreamcast) and you check in every day as it grows and evolves. You could furnish the house, get toys, do mini games, etc. Every day could be tracked in real time with real seasons as you grow food for your virtual pet , train your virtual pet, expand the housing, get new furniture, items, etc. Could potentially be some battling too. Tap your controller to take your pet into your controller, bring it to a friends, and have your pets hang out or fight each other in an arena. Maybe like Digimon/Pokemon or the old web game "Neopets." The more you train your pet at home and in your day to day errands the stronger it gets. I could see house expansions for exercise rooms, game rooms, living areas, maybe a town with shops you visit, where there are also mini games for money, the farm you grow food on, etc. This could be like a... Digimon... Animal Crossing... Tomagatchi fusion. -
Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

It's totally okay to dislike Amico or say "This isn't for me" but people are taking it way beyond that. They're going out of their way to make sure people know they disagree or dislike it. -
I dunno. As I get older, it feels like these 4 months are gonna fly by.

Formulated, rational discussion is not the same as crafting insults, and now literally saying that Tommy can't speak because of his title, and saying someone who is excited for a new console concept is "cheerleading." How about we call you doomleading? Doomleader! It's just a useless moniker designed to label in a disparaging way. All for defending the idea of the Amico. This verbiage is designed to dig at the person supporting an idea. It's not conducive to actual critical thinking - nor is it actually improving anything you are discussing. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing - wondering why an Amico thread has positive Amico support or discussion is another thing entirely. Furthermore, saying "I'll just be ignoring all Amico stuff again!" just doesn't add much. Once more - it does not matter how concerned you are. You have spent nothing. You have invested nothing. This is not an Indiegogo, or a Kickstarter. This has nothing in common with any of the past machines you are conflicted about and it's kind of a false comparison. If you had invested time and money into the Ouya, or the Chameleon, I could understand (money you never got back) - but bringing the same concerns here when this is not the same situation is why you come off like you are "concern trolling." If we just keep saying "Well remember bad things happen, we're just concerned bad things happen" it's doomleading. Or, I should say, it's the same as "cheerleading." Being an intelligent, well educated consumer doesn't require you interact directly with the product developer. But it's something Tommy is allowing you to do. Slamming him over and over that this is "concerning" because of past machines, or because he accepted $100 dollars from people who willingly gave it up for pre-order, like what you did, and I also started out by doing in the other thread, is useless and doesn't advance any positive, proactive discussion. I realized this quickly. We just have to hope for the best and keep asking questions and discussing and see where things end up. No one is making you spend any money on Intellivision or devote any time to any of these threads. You should not complain about what you willingly subject yourself to. If you think there are other developers or other people you'd rather be in charge of this - by all means, believe that. But if someone coming here to talk to hardcore fans and being excited about his product comes off as too sales-pitchy, you don't have to put up with it. You have options, other threads, etc.
-
Calling out someone based on title is not really useful. It's not going to get anyone anywhere if you say "I don't want the developer of this to talk to me about what he developed." The problem with calling on authority like this, is you place him on a pedestal and define him by that title. You create a now impenetrable barrier between the end user and the product developer. You've muted the person in charge of something that is being developed for an end user. That would be the most anti-consumer thing you could ask for. It's quite possibly the most opposite ideal anyone should attempt to set in the indie development market (not the big 3). I'm not sure what the purpose was of commenting on the age of my account. It just comes off as another smug comment to invoke seniority... Which is... An appeal to authority... Which is a lot like deferring to title... Which you implied you don't support with Tommy. I'm getting a general sense of self-importance here and it also looks like you do not want new members of this forum. I won't apologize that my interest in Amico brought me here.
-
This may come off pretty heavy handed , but I needed to say it. I apologize for any derailment, and I DO understand this is an independent thread (supposed to be). You strike me as the same kind of person who would also be flustered and upset if there was no communication or very little communication. To lay out the series of choices you have made... You willingly come to an Amico discussion thread, in an area of this website where Tommy is very active, and expose yourself to the updates and communication deliberately... Then say "Wow, all this communication from the lead at Intellivision has really turned me off!" (again, I know this is an independent thread, but given the insults and accusations that were flying of course anyone can come in and defend themselves). It's one thing to say that, fine, but then to go further and start to question judgment and competence just because this guy's a regular person like you and I discussing his ideas and keeping folks updated every day is beyond silly. It's neither here nor there - you can take it or leave it. You can put in as much energy as you want, or as little, and you've surely invested no money in this. So what was the purpose of this comment other than to act smug?

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

Speaking of videos, this is a tough one... Rich has some very good points. And that's a nice hoodie haha. -
These are the people who are just unhappy in general and want to spread their negativity. They are meaningless in the long run and they will say everything is a scam and everything will fail no matter what it is.
