It's been a while since I found a vintage commercial:
Hot dogs? Bowling balls? What??

Three really good games!
Juno First - 47,050
I didn’t know this was a port. Lots of fun, very smooth controls.
Read the manual and learned what hyperspace was (enemies don’t fire). Manual: https://www.ataricompendium.com/archives/manuals/vcs/juno_first.pdf
Doggone It! - 21,841
A bit under my pb of 35k, but I’ll be back. Love this game!
Meooow! 2 - 10,970
Fun! At first I was just going back and forth like a dummy and thinking how it should’ve been a paddle game, then I read the manual…
and learned what the heck to do. My score jumped significantly haha. Very cute and frantic. That freeze time feature is very necessary!
All in all, a great batch of homebrews. Thanks all!

Yay! Excited to see Doggone It back in the HSC! I had a lot of fun playing it before, and I was honored to be gifted a copy. I'm looking forward to it and the other homebrews

I’m not so good at dodging these big ol jets, and it only gets harder on the 3D stage…
Thunder Blade - 98,000
And you can guess what I played as a bonus…”Get Ready!”
After Burner - 211,200
New high score! (At least that I have recorded.) Still seems pretty low. Fun game, can make me a bit dizzy haha.- 2

I just realized my Red Sea Crossing score is very hard to see... not great anyway, perhaps I'll get a better score tonight.

Cross Force 1b - 820
Dodging bullets at the top keeps getting me. Neat concept, I’m just not so good at it.
Cross Bow 3b - 29,550
I love light gun games, so this would’ve been awesome if they would’ve allowed it to use the XE gun… and I just learned that this came out for 7800 and XEGS with light gun support, so I’m definitely gonna check that out. Hopefully it works better than the other ones I’ve played.
*edit* Switched over to a Genesis controller to nab that score btw. Moving a target is clunky already. I found it really difficult with a joystick.
Red Sea Crossing 1b - 12,700 (127 lol)
Starts off pretty simple and boring and then you start to die and it’s still pretty simple and boring, just with the annoyance of dying when you expect to just breeze through it. An appropriate game for Passover too lol.

Some of the obstacles in Red Sea Crossing really puzzle me. For example, in this screenshot the giant snake is obvious but what are the 2 lumps on the bottom supposed to be?
Lol right? According to this unofficial manual, they're sea monsters...

Also, interestingly, the last two digits are your lives, so technically the scores are a lot lower in this game than how they appear. But since that's ridiculous and confusing, let's all pretend we're scoring in the 10s of thousands

^ Nice find on Star Tropics! Great game. I grew up with Monster Party & Kickle Cubicle. MP is cool but hard, and my copy never worked with Game Genie (apparently a known issue), but I gotta try it out again on my Everdrive, ha. KC is a lot of fun that I beat bitd and still holds up.

Btw @Dashopepper sweet shelf. You got a nice lookin game room there.

When we last played this in Sept ‘22, I managed to score 11k. This time, I got 5,700. I didn’t hit pause fast enough to get a photo. Seriously, why bother having a score if they’re not gonna put it on the title screen? You’ll have to take my word for it that I got such a low score. Me and this game just do not click.
Same for Rambo III, tho I did manage to beat my pb by 100 points haha. Easily my least favorite phaser game and my least favorite Sly sms game I have (Rocky’s no Punch-Out, but it does have those sweet training stages).
Rambo: FB pt II - 5,700
Rambo III - 2,500

I got that bundle when I was a kid! (It's actually sitting next to my couch right now hahaha.) I love those inserts and all the details. I would always want the tv tuner and battery pack (so I could fill the empty spaces in the case, hahaha). It wasn't until the mid 2000s that I finally scored a tuner for cheap at a con. Wasn't long before it became useless with the switch to digital, lol. But since it essentially makes the GG a monitor, I was able to do some fancy hookup work and play NES on it. I always loved the master system converter. It was such an easy sell to my mom, "It allows me to play all the other games I already have!" (But on a smaller screen on road trips!)

So I’m playing Threshold for the first time, and I notice that I don’t see my score. I think, oh, the score must pop up at the end, interesting. And then…
I’m pressing the button, moving the joystick, flipping switches…nothing. Hmm. Let me turn on my little Sharp crt…
Oh! What is that tiny sliver of black on the top left? I check others’ screenshots…yup, that’s my score. Great, both of my crts don’t make the threshold. I lost the remote to the Sharp, can’t access the menu, and don’t think that’ll make a difference anyway. And I’m not gonna mess around with the vertical hold on my Zenith. I don’t wanna emulate this…one last test- the Samsung DLP that I also have hooked up in my game room (yet rarely use). Bc I love experimenting with hookups, I have cables running between everything so I can just pop it on and…There we go! Jeeeeez. So you’re telling me, there were likely people buying this game when it came out who were unable to see their score? I am using a Harmony cart for it tho, so perhaps something is different with the file. If anyone is using an original cart on a crt, I’m curious what your experience has been.
Anyway, I’m gonna give it another go now, tho I am not a fan. The enemies are so erratic, I miss more than I hit 🙄 I will continue to play on my Zenith; there’s the slightest lag on the dlp *grumble* #CRTElitist

Got a few final games in today. No new score, but I did tie myself.
This game manages to make each hit satisfying. I like the quick string I can get in the beginning, any night hit is awesome, then there’s a certain satisfaction when your radar is out and you’re sliding in the snow and bam, success.
I’ve found that once you get to 36 tanks, the difficulty ramps up. I get a false sense of security with my reserve tanks, lol.

I didn't end up playing, and now I'm going out of town, so dang. Anyway, great scores guys on a great game!

The one I found is also like that, showing "original" and "flash" instead of game 1 and 2. Do we want to be playing on the other rom that looks like it might be a beta version?
Let's be honest tho, I'll likely score low enough to not earn points, haha, but still, rules. lol
