  1. And people say retro games lack story. And this gif came up in my search. The cat is the seal who invites himself to Matt's Christmas party. And put a mask on, Alf!
  2. That seal is a punk. Thin Ice- 10,100 Here's my read on the situation- Duncan is a Jackass Penguin (they're real 😆) and he's just pullin' some pranks and dunkin' his penguin friends and stealing their shrimp cocktails. But this seal is a goody two shoes and chases him around to stop, even going as far as telling on him to the polar bears who come in the break things up. So the seal is bad, the bear is bad, Duncan is bad...the only good guys here are the friendly penguins, and it's your job to eff up their day. What a game!
  3. I'm finding controlling this one a little hard, but I've been able to steadily increase my score. Fun! 183,388 Wave 3 Round 2 Reading the manual for tips and points helps. Getting the bonus for all towers is hard, but it's a lot! Getting up there in waves and using the force on the last round has got to be key to massive scores. Looked that up- in order to "use the force" on the 3rd round, don't shoot anything except for when you hit the reactor port. I suppose that means just taking a hit on any fireballs that end up sneaking through.
  4. "It's not easy being Q*bert, but it's fun!" And I just have to share this. The production value in a commercial for a board game is quite nice, haha. I want to play these!
  5. No success coming close to my high, but I did play a little on NES, and I now like the CV version even more. The NES one is incredibly sluggish. I always remembered having trouble with that cart, and coming off of the precise and fast controls of the Colecovision, the Nintendo one just doesn't cut it. This is a game where you have to move quickly, so slow controls is a big no.
  6. I was always a passive Q*bert fan, but I'm really getting the hang of this and enjoying it more than I remembered! 90,455 Level 4-4
  7. Never played this one before, pretty rad. I like the ability to hang on the fence and punch guys, and of course, the different robots are awesome. The story in the manual is wild. Where have you been all my life, Shatterhand? 😆 👊🏼 56,650 played area A, died in area B
  8. The game that gets in my head with perspective and controls. And taught me to curse. @!?! What's everyone preferred control scheme here? Since I'm emulating, I've turned my DualShock3 at an angle and end up using both thumbs on the d-pad. 46,400 Level 3-3
  9. I have a Super Magicom, which supports snes and genesis. Used to confuse the crap out of my friends bitd, but I had one hell of a snes library 😆
  10. Finally sat down to a game today. Level 15 trapeze is very hard. With the previous ones, I get myself into a groove jumping from bar to bar (and racking up some nice points), but by 15, it's harder to get in sync (I think they want you to use the trampolines, which I am not so skilled at). Then comes 16 fire, which tricks you up b/c you know how easy level 1 is, but then bam, there's so much fire and you need to keep backing up. Then 17 monkeys, which I'm currently stuck at. What used to be a walk in the park has become a crazy blue monkey onslaught. I'll jump back on again before the deadline, but beating stage 17 may be another day. Score improvement nevertheless, which has got to be b/c of which parts of stages I had to repeat after dying. 163,690 Stage 17 no coins I came up with a little story for Chablie when I play. So he's got this job at the circus right, but the ringmaster, you see, drives a tight ship. He gives ol' Chabs only a few tries to mess up before he's given the boot. His performance and audience approval is tracked by his points. When he does really well, the ringmaster will be so pleased he'll give him another chance to slip up. But eventually, the stress of the big top always gets to him and poor Chablie has to pack it in. In the end, he becomes what he's always feared- a sad clown. I hope you've enjoyed my Circus Charlie fan fiction 🤡
  11. Haha, awesome. I want to sit down with that again, not sure if I will during the time left for a regular submission, but at least afterwards. I looked back at my old notes and I have written down: If I didn't die from getting tired and messing up, when would I eventually die? The exploit I was doing on stage 1 was letting the clock tick down, which cost me a life, but I would earn another one before the next clock ran out. It was tiring, lol.
  12. I was staying at a consistent score at stage 14 for a few goes (the changes in the horse round are hard). Then I found a good pattern for myself and was able to get ahead Of course, that loop's trapeze was having me swing out of sync 😵 Next loop had me losing my last two chablies on a fire hoop and a blue monkey of all things. Normally the tightrope is a freebie round, but in this loop, the blue monkey snuck up out of nowhere when I was doing a standstill jump. I was pretty surprised. 156,830 Stage 17 no coins
  13. Oof. Had the high for a few hours...awesome score!
  14. New stage, new high, can't complain. Tho when I hit 100k I'll be pretty happy 92,820 Stage 10 no coins
  15. I've found that if they're moving slowly or not really leaving at all, I have to move the chopper around and they eventually flea. Sometimes I don't know if they really want to be saved...
  16. You're giving me more credit than I give myself, thanks lol. All tied would be awesome. But if I lose with 63, then hat's off to everyone.
  17. I've reset this game more times than I can count 🙄 Perfect score runs usually result in me choking. Got 1 more tho, so at least I have something to show for it... 63
  18. Got an email from Intellivision that it was today in 1979 that it debuted! Happy 41st B'day INTV! Would they have thought that 41 years later there'd be a HSC on the internet about it? They'd probably say, what's the internet?!?! The email came with a cool vid that I could not get through:
