Gaming took a backseat recently, but I did play some Maze-A-Tron, for a lovely participation score of 0. Mark it! 😆 *edit* and Rickster just updated the scores when I was writing this, lol
Perhaps I'll get some Vectron in before the deadline. I'll tell ya tho, haven't been sold on these two from the convo these past few weeks 😝

It's probably not the "correct" way to do it, but I've figured out how to survive the trapeze level consistently. Falling straight down to bounce for the next rope. Takes more time that way, but I can't seem to control the jumps any other way.
Now my new problem is -- I can't get off the damn horse properly at the end of those levels.
Nice man! I haven't gotten past the trapeze level yet, but I was earlier this year and I remember being able to consistently jump from rope to rope. The bouncing is a valid way tho, that's why they're there I guess. And man, to survive the entire horse level and die at the end, bummer.

np man
I forgot about shipping, of course, so the code ended up covering that for me, haha. I like the D&D shirt, and would be fun to wear to actual D&D, but I passed and decided to go with the baseball one for my bro. Yerrrrrr out.

When I sat down to play, I thought, I love Tapper, I'll try to play this every day. The longer my game lasted, the less I agreed with my original statement. Guess I was tapped out. This score is barrels over my arcade Tapper score. I was rooting for fierce competition, but I'm not sure I can beer it.
But seriously, I wish I knew how long I was playing for, b/c for my standards of arcade style games, this was a very long one. I wonder if the score loops or hits a million? I do not have the patience or skill to find out. Aaaaand, I just saw NCG's record. WOW.

Hmm, I'll try playing with the second controller. Thanks for the info and tips guys.

Controlling this game is a challenge. Running hurts my fingers, and making sure I run away from an enemy in order to shoot before it kills me is a bit stressful. Add in not being able to run and gun at the same time, woof. Part of the charm of these games, of course, is playing with the original hardware, but there are times like this that it's not helping. Maybe I'll try on emu for the heck of it.
I am enjoying the game tho! Was able to beat skill level 2 with 2 guys left. No luck on skill 3 yet so far.
Skill 2 (Medium, Blue Mountain) w/2 lives left
Anyone else having a weird glitch where your player shoots arrows when you run and you are most definitely not touching any keypad buttons? This is not so good when you are trying to find arrows and the game decides to waste em on ya.

I'll start this off with a score I hope to increase if I can figure out how to do the trapeze stage.
48,170 Stage 5 no coins
Looking back at my scores and notes from January, I was able to abuse the coins on stage 1 to intentionally die and repeat the stage for a high of around 450k. I might try it again to share here. It's grueling but fun. My notes also showed that I got to stage 11, which means not too long ago I was able to swing on the trapeze like a pro, but today, I was having no such luck.
I first came across this game a number of years ago on a Japanese multicart where it was named "Circus Chablie". I have since gotten my own Famicom and the original cartridge, which is my favorite to play on the system, but he will forever be Chablie to me

Wow, these scores are seriously impressive you guys. Interesting to see that the game ends. I want some weapon upgrades, but I know that as soon as I spend points on them, I'll end up dying quickly and lose them. But from the looks of it, it helps and the loss of points in no way stops you from an insanely high score, if you have it in ya.

Not sure if I have the time or patience to make it through the other skill settings, but I did have fun going through on easy! I can see myself getting into this outside the club tho. I managed to get all the items and boat, axe, and key my way past the barriers, huzzah!
Getting a picture here is hard, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at. Was I on my last guy? I guess this gets me a point for participation if nothing else.
Skill Level 1, 1 dude remaining?

I put some time into this yesterday. I even poured over the manual. I'm pretty bad at this game. My goal was to break 1K.... achieved!👍
Whoops, my bad. That's funny. You're obviously going after the illustrious invisi-steer. It's point value is quite high.

I seem to be getting worse the more I play. The wall room gets me, the hall monsters get me, the not lining up my shots correctly gets me. One thing I am getting, is tired of this, hahaha. I think my entry might be my best, hopefully it gets me to round 2.

Hmph. Sure you're keeping an eye on the number on the top left? That's your stray count, which goes down for each cow that leaves the screen to the left. Before you get the hang of it, it goes down fast.
3 hours ago, BiffMan said:Yeah, non-random is a whole other strategy compared to the frantic cray-cray of random cows.
Aaaaand I just realized you were talking about the non-random games, like skill 2. Yikes. I love the variations in these games, keeps them fresh.
Played some D&D earlier w/o reading the manual...so I have three dead party members to show for it. (At least I have the overlay.) Now read, I'll sleep on it, and be ready to tackle it tomorrow, lol. I think I'll start on easy... This is harder than regular D&D. I keep throwing dice at my TV, but no luck.
That was stupid, haha, goodnight.
*edit* whoops, just saw Matt's comment come through. Hope that's the issue and not an emulator or hardware issue.

4th Annual Fall Knockout Tourney - Round 3 - Choplifter
in ColecoVision High Score Club
Posted
So, did I read the manual correctly and the highest score we can get is 64?
It's sad when a chopper full of your rescued hostages gets shot down. RIP little guys. I like when some of them wave to you before heading into the base 🇺🇸
