  1. No score update from me, but when Jr starts going in directions that you’re positive you didn’t move him, then that means it’s quitting time. I did have a game earlier this evening where I hit 43k on my first life, so that was a new record which was frickin sweet. But just like in Ms. Pac, my highest games aren’t from my best first lives. I really wanna play the arcade version now. I read that one gives you an extra life every 10k, which if true, is insane. The biggest frustration that I think I had with this game was that I don’t start off consistently well. Sometimes I’ll sit down to one game and kick butt. Most other times, I’m having a rough start and restarting a lot. Although actually, that usually gets me in a rut and I need a break. The tricycle maze is just a hard first level, harder than cherry in Ms. Pac-Man for sure. I guess it just boils down to this: Jr. Pac-Man VCS is frickin hard and I want to knock that stupid propeller hat off of his head sometimes. end rant
  2. The scrolling in this game hurts my head Last minute participation points at least 859
  3. I feel you man. For every good run, I have like a million resets. I really feel the absence of tunnels. Don’t know what you have until they’re gone...
  4. Managed to finish tricycle with 22k and losing no lives. Kept that momentum going, getting me out of a slump of staying around 47k in recent games. This game is brutal, amazing job everyone! 67,930 🚋
  5. I kept telling myself, it wasn't a matter of if I could break 50k, it was a matter of when. I had confidence that I could, but I kept plateauing in the 40s. 50k is a score that has significance for me in Ms. Pac-Man b/c it was the score that my local pizza place would give you a free slice of pizza if you should reach it. But for Jr. Pac-Man, that number would have to be much lower. For a game that gives you more points quicker, it is damn hard to reach those high scores. I can't imagine the arcade version is any easier. 51,510 made it to train! woooo! choo choo! 🚋 😆 edit- I did notice something weird during one of my million games-- I died with a few dots left on the first stage and then it took me straight to the second maze. Those last few dots were 50 pointers, having been run over by the tricycle. So it turns out that those are considered "eaten" in terms of maze completion...but only after you die, b/c I definitely think that I've finished a level by eating some big dots last before.
  6. I've played so many games in a row, my wrist is about to fall off. 48,880 balloon
  7. Fake Frog, I think I know him... anyway, the crickets outside of my house are going crazy and it sounds like Frog Bog out there.
  8. I know I'll score higher if I just don't die as much. That's pretty funny as is, but you know what I mean right?! 43,980- drum
  9. Very awesome, thanks everyone! Taking a look at some of the manuals for these games, it's pretty neat how they utilized the switches. Space Shuttle looks particularly sweet and is how I was imagining using them during gameplay. I actually saw its overlay before on AA but thought it was purely cosmetic. Very cool, I'll have to check some of these out. I like how some games have a pause switch, probably figured at some point that no one was using a b&w tv anymore
  10. I can imagine that if the dust is really caked on the plastic, a dry dusting won't clean it. I too would be weary of using liquid, but if nothing else worked, I would try a little piece of slightly wet paper towel and gently go over a section. I think I would only try this if it was totally grody tho. BTW, can you spare any Pole Positions? Or Battlezones? Or...😆 jk
  11. I like all the different switches on the original vcs models, and I was wondering if there has ever been any games (legacy or homebrew) that use the switches for actual gameplay? For everything I've played, you flip a difficulty switch or choose a mode, reset, and you're off. But I suppose these switches could be used to have in-game functions as well. I think I've seen homebrew carts that use the color/b&w tv switch to toggle between ntsc and pal, which is neat. This could be a really cool way to interact with a game. Haven't found a thread about this when searching, so redirect me if it's been discussed before.
  12. Did something right 🧐 899,875 Now I just gotta crack 1M on wave 1...
  13. So my gameplay was getting more confident, but my score wasn't increasing. Admittedly, I wasn't giving this cool game enough time. But I was so curious about those insanely high scores @mbd30 was getting and on the first wave no less. Checking out a youtube video and armed with the manual in front of me, my mind was blown. After just a few tries... 257,300 Yes, you too can achieve crazy high scores with just a little strategy! I expect to increase this, but posting it now b/c I'm just so proud, haha. Hopefully I'll sink some more time Klaxing this weekend.
  14. Holy moly level 7. Managed to take down 1 dreadnaught. Not having any luck beating my score on level 4, tho I did manage to take down the first ship without losing any lives. Level 7 - 1,171
  15. At the risk of "blaming the controller", I'll just say that I got this score after switching to a Genesis 3-button... 86,840 Round 6 (again, maybe 1 letter from finishing 🙄)
  16. Yes! Agreed. frickin' hard. I've practiced a little with the level select. I also played on 1 teddy bear and went reeeeeal far just for the heck of it. I'm getting tired of that first maze. I really like the second one. 36,080 - got to drum (3rd) maze
  17. @Rickster8's making a strong case for a "no bonus" round of bnj next season...
  18. One dot wafer 😆 away from 30k. I've played Jr. Pac-Man before, but I've never really played it, ya know? Let's break this down: Huge, complicated mazes Scrolling screens Bouncing bonuses that increase dot points that slow you down and destroy power pellets Super fast ghosts Tim That kite level is crazy, there are passages that easily become death traps if you're not careful. And am I missing the tunnels? ¿Dónde están? The scrolling adds another challenge b/c ghosts come out of nowhere when you can't keep an eye on all of them. Can't say I'm a fan of that. I love how the "candy toys" have pretty much done away with perfect level scores by changing dot points, and I like how when you stop hearing them bounce it's b/c they're about to blow up an energizer. The ghosts are fast from the start, but so are you, phew. And the manual says the "ghostly bullies" tickle Jr. Pac-Man to death. Ms. Pac will always be my fav, but I like that this one is just different enough to make it worth it. 29,990 Kite Level
  19. I think I was maybe 1 letter away from finishing the round 🙄 H-E-L-P. Even wore my @DuggerVideoGames socks today (I'll spare you a pic of my feet, they're Popeye). I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he's a beast at this game. My best is on the NES version, but this is a good one. 44,060 Round 3
  20. Might feel wrong, but I did my best with a Genesis croissant. This game, I was just hittin' everything, felt like I was getting close to the second detonator. My other tries, not so much. Real hard. 27,452
  21. Thanks man. What is really cool about this game is the strategy in destroying different parts to get different benefits. It’s not just a blind shooter. I also like how you warp around the ship when you survive a pass. What I don’t like is how fast they shoot you down. I keep thinking I’m able to dodge faster than I actually can.
  22. OMG I JUST GOT IT Hi, I'm Fake Cortex, and I just learned where babies come from.
  23. Not much of a score increase, but I did take down another ship, so that's big in this game. So close to victory I can taste it. Frustrating as all, but just as satisfying. Level 4: 5,419
  24. When editing, click the image to select it and then backspace will delete it. But somehow that pic kinda works for this game? Or the quote? Or nothing...hahaha.
