    993. This is the first time I’ve played this game. I’m glad for the HSC, thank you for having this because otherwise I’d probably never give this one a try. Now I’m going to try and improve my score. 🤘🏻

Great job giving it a try! Small hint: your people like food, money, housing, and civil services...

    What? Not vague enough? 🙂

So @BiffMan is there a reason you are buying a plethora of PT boats? Awesome score, I can almost get that high,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😜

    Do not question my GENIUS!!

Have you *seen* what's going on at that other island??? What if those guys get boats and come after me??

(The PT boats are just to combat boredom so I have something to do in the last half of a 30 round game)

Ok, I finally tried out Utopia. Was putting it off b/c it was really intimidating. These types of games aren't my cup of tea, but I wanted to give it a shot and get a score on the board. After reading through the manual, I owed it to myself, haha. Anyway, hopefully not too bad.

Education is important, so there are 3 schools. The one on the far side is fancy and doesn't want to be near the hustle and bustle of the factories. Unfortunately, that means they're farther away from the hospital. Such is life in Utopia.

Hurricane alley is a bad place to be far from a hospital.  But they're rich, they can afford the charter plane for emergencies, I'm sure.  🙂

And why in the world did they have to program the game to use both side buttons separately to jump on vines and release from them?  Strange decision there, but doesn't kill the game for me.

I'm sure it must have been fun for the developers to have all those inputs to choose from compared to an 8 direction joystick with 1 button. So they went nuts. 🙂

yeah that bit is confusing. the manual also adds to go left, which was mentioned here. and of course, draw a map...which i'm sure is *super* easy when the underground counts as 3 above ground. i think we have to implement some non-euclidean geometry to accurately draw this thing 🙄

Okay, example after minimal "mapping"...   If you go left, the 3rd screen has a shrinking lake and a log up top and a scorpion down below, that's the first screen you'd go to if you went left underground from the beginning, skipping the two intervening screens.  The 6th screen going left has a snake, a ladder, and a wall underground on the left, that's where you'd get to on your 2nd screen if you went underground.  No funky time-space warping required.

So you can go left for the first 6 screens and face a hell of a lot of obstacles, or go underground, hop one scorpion, and come up in less time with less risk.  If memory serves, from there it's a matter of making sure you don't bypass a treasure by going underground (or circle back to it) and avoid the "dead ends" where the wall is on the wrong side underground.  Not sure how you do that without mapping, but probably can at least spot some obvious ones like the very first one.

Is it wrong that the potential to draw maps and figure out the perfect above/below route makes me want to play *more* than I did before?  ;-)

I just learned that every screen you advance via underground tunnel is equivalent to three screens up above... 🤔

I had totally forgotten that.  That does ring a bell in that I thought I had previously memorized where you should go underground, where you should come up, and the occasional bit of backtracking to get a bypassed treasure.

Crap, now you've got me totally overthinking things.  🙂

This is my highest ever score (since I've never played this version), I survived for nearly 90 seconds (I have *way* more time left on the clock than that other score that was posted above!), and it is impossible that I will be beat in this game.

Any comments to the contrary will be considered a direct attack and will prompt me to wreak havoc on the forums in retaliation.

    What? Too soon? ;-)
