  1. Part of why I wouldn't mind having both a timed and untimed Astrosmash round in HSC, it'd be fun from a endurance (ala Space Hawk) standpoint to see if anyone wanted to bother to get to max score. 🙂
  2. It would have to roll over into negative numbers then to get the max score up around 32 million and change... I personally wouldn't want to record or watch that even if I could do it again... At least 72 people made that score back in the day, plus however many like me who took the TV instead of going to the finals...
  3. Yeah, 90k seems to be my wall, or at least where the rapid demise starts. 🙂
  4. Holy schniikies! Laying waste to digital sharks everywhere!! 🙂
  5. They play so differently, we might as well rotate both in over the upcoming seasons.
  6. Somehow I don't think that score is going to hold up.... My first time ever playing this on Intellivision. Hell of a good home edition of PacMan for the time. The constrained board and rapid re-deployment of ghosts are giving me fits, but have to give AtariSoft full props for the animation, control, and sounds. Impressive!
  7. Possibly to do with how far you're trying to do the extremes. If you're doing straight left and right, it's hard to mess those up, but if you're trying for tight cornering near the top and bottom, it's easier to accidentally go past center and steer the other way. What you're describing sounds more like a loss of traction/spin. If you're wiggling down a long stretch trying to get straight and do opposite input too quickly (a little right then immediately a little left) then you can lose traction and spin. Always loved that the cars can do that, even if it's frustrating when it happens.
  8. Might make the occasional post in the main forum, not sure everyone sees this one.
  9. Yes, that would be where the nightmare part of driving the blue/tan come in and probably why I couldn't manage to do a course 2 run without wrecking at least twice. 🙂
  10. I wind up making a rough map of the track and jot down my best "times" at each wreck point. Since they're usually the same, you can kind of rough out what times are possible on a given track and use that as a comparison for where you're losing time or not. I count FUPs (F*-up points) where each is roughly a second of lost time vs what I think is optimum. Rack up too many, start over. 🙂 I know silly times are possible on track 2 because I wrecked top-side into the building right at the start/finish on lap 2 with a 1:06, so that should mean you could do slightly less than 5:30 (factoring out 2-3 seconds for acceleration at the start) if you could actually be that consistent, but being consistent in the blue/tan car is a real nightmare. Track 2 is just made for the blue/tan car (over half the lap can be at top speed) but holy crap is it hard to keep up that kind of focus for over 5 minutes.
  11. You're just doing that so it looks all the more impressive when you beat the record next week.... 😁
  12. I don't want to know the entire season in advance, but a heads up on what is coming is fine and appreciated. Helps build excitement. Or dread, if any ColecoVision games are involved...
  13. The tan car makes my eyes hurt, but thought it might be enough distraction to improve my focus. It was not. 🙂
  14. No dice... 5:48 in tan, so no improvement. Grats @Rickster8!!
  15. I like how any game at any moment has the potential to be your personal best. That's good game design. A single good run or two can turn any game around. All you have to do is survive at size 5 and rack up those lives! 🙂
  16. Thanks! I seem to be having issues on Shark Shark right around that magical 100k mark. I've had a couple of better scores, but just incremental improvements of a few hundred points. Still plenty of time to go, so hoping I can pull out something around 110k at least and feel like I was able to do something other than die past 100k. 🙂
  17. Really wish I could wreck less than twice... 5:45 - course 2, blue car
  18. Never biting the shark's tail would make for an entirely different play experience! I'll have to give that a try sometime. 🙂
  19. Possibly, although the pressure is on to hit nice round scores or Monk will be a nervous wreck. (Congrats!!) 🙂
