Limited Run games releases the occasional PS3 game and may again in the future.

Yep, we all know digital sucks. That's why I'm not buying any more consoles, just sticking to PC at this point.

What PS3 and Vita digital only titles are "must buy"?  Going to make a few purchases before the stores close down.

FarCry Classic is one for sure.

  2. The difference in cost for the eprom is a non-issue BUT you do need to add a PLD to the mix to control the bankswitching. They are only a couple bucks each but they do add to the production cost and time it takes to build each cart as that is another chip to solder in place. You also then need more resistors, those are only pennies but add 2 more solder points for each one required. 128k you are looking at 3x 3.3k resistors and a 1.uf capacitor.  48k game you only need a 7402 and a .1uf cap on top of the 27512 eprom.

Show a better pic of your jumper wires and yes I would go back with some more solder to each of the legs on the socket ontop of the 4050. Even though technically only a few are needed, I solder them all down for strength.

I agree. Always solder all the legs in place.

Hah, so this has been in the hands of 3 Atariage members at least...  If I didn't already have a 5200, I'd probably make it as the fourth.  :D

When I built this console it was done so with a brand new motherboard and the best cosmetic condition 5200 system shell I could find. I only used it sparingly to test various games with and play a few here and there. I did a basic AV mod on it and also burned a copy of the 4 port bios to go in it for the best game compatibility. When 8bit got it he wanted a cleaner more enhanced quality image out of it than the basic AV can give (display contrast issues from the basic AV mod) so he sent it to to crossbow to get the UAV installed instead which is universally known to be the best image any atari machine can hope for.

  5. Really cool project. Be sure to chime in when you get around to Star Wars. Even as a novelty it would be really fun to have a copy of the full movie on a 2600 cart.

Actually, you can currently softmod the current official firmware (4.87) with a combination of a hybrid firmware and a piece of software called PS3Hen. It's supposed to work on the slims and superslim models.

I'm not going to link it as I'm unsure of the exact specifics of being allowed to share modding stuff for newer consoles. It's a pretty easy process to do... Once you realize you're doing it wrong and then do it the RIGHT way! I have completed the process on my spare superslim PS3. Just waiting to test out a couple of the features on it, like ripping PS3 games or playing PS2 titles.

LMK how that works out with PS2 support as I have a slim that lost PS2 compatibility with the last version of rebug and\or the current version of evilnat cfw. :(  Dunno if I've missed something or what but now all I get is a black screen of doom on PS2 and PSP titles. Doesn't even reach the BIOS screen. Previously I had no issue with them. I've read something about netemu being the issue but didn't get to the cause or find a solution. Everything else is still working perfectly though like PS1, PS3, homebrew and emulators.

Should hopefully be soon as some hardbacks have been delivered in the US already and they all went out together.

I thought we would have seen Sean Robinson post in here by now as it's been a couple of weeks since he told me he was going to come clean and tell his side.

He also has a video with him and Mike Kennedy which proves that he didn't make the SNESInaJAg. Can't wait to see it.

Now that is stuff I would love to see and hear about.

@RickR keep in mind that while it does have composite and s-video, it can no longer use the VCS adapter as all current AV mods kill that ability. I would have too look at the pics, but it might have the 4-port BIOS installed as well to make it fully compatible with all 5200 released games. I think I factory adjusted the pokey as well since that is a standard practice as part of my services.

It does have the 4 port bios.

  9. Pretty sure this is one that the Blue Sky Rangers have stashed away. The copy of Heman for the Colecovision that was recently was from them sold so maybe there is hope they will finally sell the AD&D 2600 titles in the same manor.

Yes - those are extremely overpriced, regardless of whether they're still in bubble wrap or not.

Best is selling CX78s with extended cables and their improved PCBs installed for $60.  You may want to consider a return of the eBay items if that's still a possibility.

That wouldn't be right. He bought in at $95 each which was a choice.

No, Atari did, take a peek at the 7800 devkit, that's where I got it from, eons ago.

Yep it sure was. Was it used in a manor to be consumed by the masses and\or the player userbase in any way? Nope!  You wouldn't have to specifically say "it was mentioned in the devkit" if it was a thing. The dude deserves the credit for being the first to use it in the way he did.

EDIT: That was why my original post said it could have been used privately back in the 80's. It being in the devkit as you mentioned just further makes my point.

    According to him anyway.

Dude, he used it and sold it to the masses with great success. Perhaps it could have been used privately as far back as the 80's by other programmers but nobody will ever know or care cause it wasn't brought to the world. As far as what has been put out for everyone to play with, he sure is the the first to offer software using that method. I'm very happy he did too. R&V is top shelf 7800 software.
