Love the look of that thing... not to mention the practicality of detachable controllers.

I already had the cart and overlays, but not the box and manual. Saw it the other day, including the cart, for five dollars. It’s one of my favorite intellivision games, not because it’s necessarily excellent, but because of its ambitious scope. It had two different music tracks, two different gameplay modes and, IMO, a really cool aesthetic.

Damn, the Intv 2 is so slick looking to me. It feels simultaneously retro and contemporary.

mr_me, are you able to verify if that title screen Easter egg works on both versions of the rom? (Granted, with opposite effect, obviously) just curious, thanks!

Yeah, you’re right! With 16 directional inputs it would have been super simple. I wonder if it was ever considered during development.

Happens to me too. I think they could have fixed it if they had widened the accepted input range for the four cardinal directions.

Well that’s actually what I’ve been trying to determine. I’m very much still on the fence about the bats... you do earn some decent points for them. And the poor spider is just kinda there. I only shoot him if my life depends on it because I feel bad for him, lol

I agree with that, but for me the game is over when the invisible bot shows up. Granted, I’ve never made it that far, but to be honest, it doesn’t sound fun at all. Seems cheap, imho

I’ve been doing this since I started my attempts because I read it on here somewhere. Here’s my take... if you want a low risk, steady way to jump start your points, killing bats is the ticket. They’re worth the same as the starting robots, and they literally can’t kill you. In fact, if you can get to them fast enough, you can blast them before they leave their perch. Once you get to 5,000 points, though, lay off the bats. Go for the new robot instead. Heck, at that point, I actually prefer to have more robots on the map because I can often take out multiple bots with a single shot. So the score starts to rack up a little faster. And, since the bats are eventually going to get killed anyway, why not get the points for yourself?

I really like setting up shop near the bottom. Then I hide in one of the three central hallways and bait the robots to fire at me as soon as they spawn. Then I just hop in front and blast ‘em. Now from there, I try to keep the bots pinned to their spawn corner until I’m out of ammo. At that point I dash for the new gun and try to corral everyone back into position. By the time the black bot shows up, this approach seems to fall apart, but I’ve only gotten to him once, so...

I sort of wish the developers had left the spiders ability to drop webs behind as he goes instead of adding the invisible robot.

HA HA I can see it. Black bot is my favorite looking robot I think. It’s a tie between him and the guy with the light on his visor. I hate the first robot. Looks like a skeleton to me.

Well I’ll be darned. I know I only made it to 30k just now, but the only time I’m in the bunker is after a re-spawn.

Am I the only one who largely stays out of the bunker? I find it difficult to snipe out of there and it seems like I always get trapped for longer than I’d like.

Finally cracked 30000. Didn’t manage to destroy the black bot though. Landed two hits on him. I wish it didn’t take so long to get to these upper levels because they get pretty exciting!

New high score. Angry I couldn’t crack 30k.

Snatched up boxed copies of Burger Time and Pac Man, just in case we hit these in season 13!
