  1. Interesting. I was just trying to rule out any normal jumpiness that might be fairly common. My display has a slight jump to it.
  2. Thanks. It's almost like certain games seem to push the system harder. But it could still simply be related to duration of use.
  3. Especially after playing it for several minutes... Maybe more noticeable with some games than others. Not hot or anything, just warm.
  4. It's almost like whenever the Intellivision generates the color white, the frequency of that color causes a brief power surge or something. Could it be something to do with the RF modulator? EDIT: Seems odd to me that the RF modulator would cause the Intellivision to flash the title screen for a frame, but I have no real idea if that's a possibility.
  5. For example, when I play Skiing, there's a super-fast title screen flash right when the mountain loads and displays on the screen. As another example, I just saw a title screen flash in Space Armada as soon as I got to the level with the white background. (It takes a little while to get there). Anyone know what I'm talking about?
  6. I've only experimented with this approach on level 2, but i like to attack the destroyer first, then I turn off my sonar and start picking off either the northerly or southerly ships in rapid succession. If they find me and start firing, sometimes i'll kick it into high gear and try to run-and-gun them down. Only thing that annoys me is the slight pause in the action while a ship blows up.
  7. And supposedly the AI will form an "invasion fleet" if you let enough of them reach the harbor. I haven't seen this happen, yet, as I've been kicking the computer's butt on easy mode.
  8. I got it CIB last week and have been playing it. It's a really solid game. And, I like that you can actually "win" by clearing all the enemy ships. If you can destroy all 36 enemy vessels, you get serenaded by Flight of the Valkyries in three-part harmony. You also get to watch as three small ships(?) make their way safely across the screen. I think this might represent your side advancing into the enemy's territory, but i have no idea. Anyone else enjoy this title?
  9. Where would I find it? Looks like the promo catalog has a 1982 date on it.
  10. Haha, I'm not ready to write this one off... What I played was admittedly discouraging, but I'm holding out hope that I can "learn" (adapt?) to this one. lol
  11. It was so fun to open this and see everything positioned as it would have been back in the day.
  12. I'll update this thread as soon as I have some real play time with it. It's sort of like a really weird fixed shooter / puzzle hybrid.
  13. Finally cracked the treasury safe and got my gold bars. The game seems to loop back on itself with you visiting four more embassies. I think I'll try bumping up the difficulty to Medium.
  14. I love me some Night Stalker, although I've never been able to unlock the invisible robots! (...at least, I don't think so, HAHA)
  15. Post back if you manage to get into the safe at the treasury. I've gotten as far as getting the four code numbers, but I always panic when the secret police starts coming after me! LOL
  16. Not trying to force my opinion, however, some other similarities: Shoot a white civilian car - Loose points and alert the secret police (black cars). Pick the safe without dynamite and escape without alerting the secret police. Return to your hideout to escape the police and "reset" your alert level.
  17. I know the disc is a divisive "feature" of the Intellivision, but I couldn't imagine playing this game on a traditional joystick.
