  1. I just started listening to the podcast as my interest in the Lynx has been rekindled thanks to the Evercade system. I owned a Lynx the day they were released and bought games right up until the Jaguars launch. Warbirds was one of the games I remember mainly because my computer at the times could not run modern flight simulators and Warbirds was just so good looking and fun to play. Unlike Blue Lightning you had full control of where you wanted to go, loop-to-loops were encouraged and it felt so real at the time. Excellent graphics helped get me into the game and Atari did a great job on the manual with artwork from the artist who did the Atarian fan club art. Multiplayer was also a blast and Warbirds was one of the few games my brother, 4 years my senior, would play with me on the Lynx. One of the best Lynx exclusives and it remains fun to this day.
  2. Back in 1994 I published a small fanzine devoted to the Jaguar called "The Jungle" which was the follow up to my Lynx fanzine called "On Target". I published a bunch of issues before calling it a day and went about my life. I am refinancing my house (Dropping from 23 years left to a 15-year rate) and was going through boxes of paperwork when I came upon the first three issues of the fanzine. I hadn't seen these in at least 20 years so I was pretty excited to see them. I was pretty active in the Fanzine world in the 80's and 90's with mainly comic focused publications but I did do these two devoted to Atari products, probably inspired by the 2600 Connection and the Fanzine page in Video Games and Computer Entertainment magazine. You can tell I was a cocky young kids by the tag line "The Independent Free Thought Magazine Devoted to the Atari Jaguar", lol. It is painful to look at. Anyways, I thought I would share these as I don't know if anyone remembers them from back in the day. I know it was in one of the major magazines Fanzine page and I got a lot of orders for the third issue so maybe they are still floating around in someones basement. I did not even remember making a Lynx fanzine until I saw it mentioned in the Atari Lynx Usenet FAQ in the archives. It is amazing how much someone can forget about their own lives! -Matt
  3. I did the same thing, I will have a nice stack of games to play when it comes out. Early reviews are great, it will be cool to see how it does.
  4. There is a thread in the Dedicated Systems section but this is fantastic news, imho. Particularly since they have gone beyond the Atari published legacy games to include games by Songbird Production and others. It is a great way to get more exposure for their games (this 17 game cartridge is 1/3 of the price of one of the Songbird game on a Lynx cartridge) as well as support them as it is a fully licensed release. As a bonus the system allows save states anywhere in the game so Dracula can finally be enjoyed at a slower pace. 1. Scrapyard Dog 2. Basketbrawl 3. Super Asteroids / Missile Command® 4. 6. They just announced some new carts including the Atari Lynx Collection 1 which is awesome! I am glad that they did not sprinkle the Lynx games over other collections like they did with the 2600/7800 games!
  7. I was pretty excited to find out about Lynx User magazine since I owned a Lynx the day it was released (talked my mom into buying two to play California Games with my sister). I read the sixth issue on Archive (thanks for the link) and I am listed as a contributor! Guess that is what happens when you get old, you forget things like that. I will have to track down the other five issues, not sure what I contributed to those but I started working on my own fanzine The Jungle about the upcoming Jaguar around that time so I never did anything after that.
