Played Clubhouse 51 with my wife last night.

I wrote up my thoughts to share with some of my friends (that also did the same) and thought some of you may find it interesting as it's been referenced a few times in comparison to Amico.

p.s.  This is my personal biased opinion.  I don't care if anyone agrees or disagree.   :)

    Value - 10

Lots of great stuff that can be played over and over again either by yourself or with others for only $40.

    Gameplay/Fun Factor - 8

This is an important category.  If you're playing with others it's about an 8.  If you're playing by yourself it drops to about a 6.  And here's why...

    A.I. - 4
The computer AI is really lacking and barely challenging at all.  It's more just "random" than intelligent... which in these style games isn't the way to go. As an example... if any of you play backgammon, chess or checkers... play a single player game and you'll see exactly what I mean.  Because Switch is a portable system, it would have been great to actually get super challenging A.I. in these games.  I never lost anything a single time in single player.  Zero challenge from that regards.

    Audio - 6
I averaged the sound design, v.o. and music and rounded up to get the 6.

The sound design would get about a 7.  What's there is really good, but it gets repetitive and lacks dynamics.

The music is pretty annoying and production is poor.  I'd give it a 5.
Voice-overs are a little on the creepy and annoying side.  I'd say 5.

    Graphics - 8

Very well done.  It is what it is.  Everything looked really good.  No complaints.

    Multiplayer - 8

The multiplayer experience was cool for certain games but completely lacking in others.  You do need multiple joy-cons or Switches to play over 2 player I believe.  It's actually a little confusing as to what you can and can't do with multiplayer because there are so many different combinations.  Not being able to plug in the all-in-one Switch controller (the one that looks like the Xbox or PS controllers) really sucked.  But for 2 player it's totally fine as much as I hate splitting the joy-cons.  Bowling & Darts worked well.  The shooting game was virtually unplayable.

    User Experience/User Interface - 4
This is where it really takes a dive.  Frustrating is an understatement.  You need to hold the split up joy-cons in a certain way for the menu screens and other ways for the games and you never quite know which way you're supposed to be holding them and which button does what.  Constantly throughout the hours we were playing it was hard for both of us to move forward in menus or to back out.  The 4 joy-con buttons kept doing different things in our minds (because we were holding them wrong and it didn't show you how to hold it every time you were in the menus.  And even if we were, we couldn't remember which button moved forward and back.  Now hardcores will easily call me a "boomer" and idiot because I'm sure it was very easy for them to understand.  But the average person is going to be lost and frustrated.  Shannon literally finally got up and left because we both kept trying to do something in the menus... but couldn't.  It's also weird because sometimes her controller would advance or start a game, and sometimes mine did.  We never really even figured it out.  The other thing I want to mention is that it took a few minutes of total garbage before I could even play the first game.  It kept pushing all this crap on me that I didn't care about (avatars, globe info, etc.).  It was so frustrating... right out of the gate!

    Presentation - 5

I hated it.  Weird plastic people as avatars, strange globe thing telling you about the games, cheesy dialogue, etc.  Why they didn't just make this more like Mario Party with all their amazing characters is beyond me.  Instead you get a bunch of strange plastic people where their animations consist of the plastic thing bouncing back and forth.  Very eye-rolling and annoying.

    Enjoyment for non-gamers - 8

It would have gotten higher if not for the bad UI.

    Game depth - 5

Barely any at all.  Each game is what it is... so I put this right in the middle of the scale.  No unlockables or even the ability to pick your own side/car/color/team, etc.  And I get it... it's a LOT of games in one... so it's hard to knock it for what it is.

Overall - I'd say a solid 7 overall.  Maybe even a 7.5 if I play more and get used to the controls.  The Metacritic average is around 8.0 so not that far off.

In comparison, the places the game is lacking are some of the most important things that we are doing right on Amico and what we feel casuals and non-gamers find to be very important.

Would love to hear folks in here give a review if you pick it up.  I believe a few of you said you were going to get it.

I have been playing this for the last 2 days and find it really fun BUT am surprised at several things. I have one switch but was thinking of getting a second one because the game selection is so confusing And there are many I can’t play with only one switch. Only 3 games that you can play more than 2 players ? Bowling and darts among others only being 2 players ????? Each menu you select has different games that you can’t play. The layout is super confusing. You use the pro controller to get the game going but then must use only joycons to play ??  The casual gamer would not understand why certain games are not available in different modes. Such great presentation otherwise it’s a shame. And even if I get another switch to play the games that need 2 systems , Nintendo’s game sharing rules for people like me that are all digital make it almost useless to get a second switch. I would be getting it only for clubhouse games. Grrrrrrrr !!! I would already have multiple switches if Nintendo had reasonable game sharing rules. Am I not understanding something ? If I get a switch lite as a second system it seems I can not have and play my digital games on both ? Is this correct ? Can anyone confirm this ? I want a second one but what’s the point if I can’t have my digital purchases and use both systems at the same time. I get not being able to play  the same game at the same time but can I play one game and my daughter play another at the same time ? Someone please clear this up for me. This can’t be right ....can it ?

My CFO Nick has already started doing the math on what it's going to cost the company in my time just to do these!

    :)

If it takes me 30 seconds to sign and number.  That is 1,300 minutes = over 21 hours!!!

Then I have the 10,000 VIP cards and 2,600 posters!

    😱

    It’s a good thing you didn’t take pre orders for “5200” or “7800” FE’s 😂

Watching your interview yesterday you mentioned that you are going to sign and number each founder edition Amico. Can I have #1 of 2600?

Can I have number 7 ? 😛 On that interview you did the other day, you said you might add some funny comments like “666 with devil 👿 horns” . Please don’t give me that one or my wife won’t let it in the house !!!! 😂 but a comment along with the number and signature would be cool 😎 . You need to come up with 2600 comments in they case ! Sounds exhausting !!! 😜

I also tried something, a small video with only 7 views in 1 month. But the count stayed the same !

Maybe it's not in realtime. I will take a look tomorrow if it's now 8 views or more. (Because I looked at it 3 times).

I always wondered this. I have done this and did not see the counter go up.

Edit ok I see in an earlier post that each view counts !

    Haha!

Lets all click on it a few times so it goes over 100K!    :)

    WAIT A SEC?!?!?!

100K views but only 235 dislikes??

    Hmm... lets do some math...

    Lets see.... that's...

    .2%

    So 1/4th of 1 percent.

    Isn't That Something?

    :D :D :D

I have a question. If I watch this video  100 times on my YouTube account, does it count as 100 views or are the views counted by unique users ? I’m assuming it would count as 100 views but I’m not entirely sure.

Which probably makes sense as to why the big announcement came in a Japan only magazine.

I find it super interesting though that the entire industry and hardcores were hoping so much that Sega was going to do another console.  Why?  I read many user comments and industry takes.  The reason:  Because they were nostalgic for older and simpler games and setups.  Because platforms like Genesis & Saturn were easily playable with friends.

    Hmmm??   Isn't that interesting.

    😁

That’s super interesting and makes sense. If SEGA did announce a console, it would most definitely have an ”older and simpler game vibe”. They would not have the money or resources to compete with Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony who create High budget games. They would have no choice to keep it simple and focus on a different market segment. I think

I heard some company is doing that as we speak 😜

Interesting insights from this young man

Nothing new here. He is just picking the video apart in a very mechanical way rather that actually learning about the console and talking about it in an intelligent way. In most commentaries , there are usually both positives and negatives discussed . No surprise here ! He comes off as a smart ass kid that had no interest in the console and had taken no time to learn about it. It’s just the usual negative rant comparing it to a cell phone ......blah blah blah ......You don’t like it ? Don’t buy it ! Simple as that 😜

I didn't see the movie until I was in college.  I had heard about it, and of course knew about the light cycles and such.  When I borrowed a VHS copy from a neighbor, I sat down and watched it.  I was blown away.  It quickly became my favorite movie.  I was amazed at how it worked so well on so many different levels. It had interesting visuals, battles, and light cycle races that kids would enjoy. But it also had a really deep story about the creator of a world being brought down to his own creation. It's just so good.

What I'd like to see, more than a TRON game itself, is the actual games from TRON.  Wouldn't it be cool to finally play Space Paranoids, Matrix Blaster, Vice Squad, and Light Cycles? Everytime I watch the movie, I so desperately want to pop some quarters into a machine and play Space Paranoids. The closest I could get was the arcade version of Discs of Tron.

Had anyone ever made a version of the original Tron arcade game ? I would love that !!

    Howdy Sir,

    A few I'm hoping for are :

Euchre ( card game variant )

    42 ( dominoes variant )

    Moon ( dominoes variant )

    Train ( dominoes variant )

Here's a second vote for Dark Tower, I've already put in my $ for the new version coming out.

There are many more mainstream games, but I don't know if they'll have difficulties with licensing :

    Battleship

    Stratego

    Mille Bornes

    Clue

    Trivial Pursuit

    Axis & Allies

    Life

Just to name a few off the top of my noggin.

Can't wait until they really start their main advertising push, then we'll start getting lots more information, instead of the little bits they've been able to parcel out so far.

    Thanks,

    B

I would love to see Clue and Stratego and Battleship!!! And Mille Bornes is an absolute classic !!! They would make great use of the controller. Some other ideas:

    Taboo

    The game of things

    Wits and wagers Family

    Say anything

    Wide World

    Masterpiece

    Scattergories
    Spot it

    Scrabble

    Apples to apples

    And many more !!!!

I would like to start with. Amicos new original titles. Love to get thoughts and  expectations from everyone and any added hints?

I would love to hear more as well. My expectations are quite high for some new experiences with the focus on  couch coop taken to the next level built from the ground up using all the bells and whistles that  the Amico controller has to offer. That being said, I love what I  have seen so far being done with reimagined games , dice games, sports  etc ....! It all looks amazing and fun to me and each game will be original and unique with coop , VS etc added to each and every Amico game. I have very high hopes for original IP’s like the “ice cream game” I am eagerly awaiting new information, demos etc 😀

  11. Hmmmm......are we going to talk about games anymore or are we done ? These last few pages are getting so off topic that the MOST of us are here for. (Ongoing discussion about the same things said in different ways over and over again). We are mostly here to share our passion and excitement for the Amico. I get that some people will disagree and raise concerns etc but this is getting a bit ridiculous and the latest conversation is not balanced as far as why MOST of us are here. In my opinion of course😀

Yeah... you're totally correct.  We're ensuring we have a really good balance for everyone.  I'm personally more like you and am loving Moon Patrol but don't see myself playing Farkle as much.  BUT... a lot of folks will feel the exact opposite of us as well!  They'll LOVE Farkle and may buy the system just for that and never at all be interested in Moon Patrol.  :)

I also agree about Lunar Lander and keeping it consistent but adding some cool co-op & versus modes too.

Will be fun to start working on that one next year.

Moon patrol and local leaderboards !!!! I’m in and will be up nights playing that one. Whatever it takes to keep my number one spot in the house !!! I Will need to have the top score  on all Of my Amico games. It’s a sickness 😁
