I'm always careful to say 2 separate controllers. And even though you can "split" the joycons... it certainly doesn't work for every game.
I always give the example of when me & my wife bought Wheel of Fortune and wanted to play 2 players. WE COULDN'T!! It wouldn't allow us to split the controllers or even PASS the controller!!!!!!!!!!
Had to have a 2nd controller in order to make a 2nd player. So annoying and stupid. 2 people are NEVER playing at the same time during Wheel of Fortune and you only need 2 inputs (joystick or d-pad and one button). So there was ZERO reason to not have the ability to pass the controller or split the controller.Just another small example of how couch co-op is being ignored or dropped by folks developing on the Switch. And although a great machine, it is NOT the end all be all couch co-op system some people would have you believe.
The only games games I play when family and friends come over are the jackbox games. That’s it. They are pretty much all casual gamers. They will love the Amico ! And I’m a great salesman when I love a product ! I already ordered a FE for my brother without even asking him ! He will take it when I’m done talking about it ! Lol

I played it. Not bad. As a solo game I got bored after about 10 minutes. Would probably play it for hours if I could play it couch co-op or versus.
That’s the point that eliminates the “Amico games are like mobile games” argument. Playing alone gets old fast. 10-15 minutes and it’s done.

This was one of the guys who talked about the whole Pat & Ian thing last night on his channel.
Can you post the link to this interview ? I’m trying to see the end since I missed it live. I click on it but it doesn’t work.

I just saw the latest Q&A you did and love the examples of balanced gameplay (karma engine ?) with Pong and Shark Shark used as examples. Great idea 💡
This changes everything when playing with people of different skill levels. Games are often not fun when one is an expert and another a beginner etc .... etc I believe this is a HUGE game changer. It can make any game fun to play for all people involved. How often do I not bother playing a certain game with someone because our skill levels are vastly different ?
This needs to be communicated very strongly in the marketing and the Example with Pong explains it perfectly 😃

Yes! For sure. It's going to be a HUGE part of our messaging! First major video game console in 30 years that comes standard with 2 controllers! First to come standard with 6 individual premium games, first game machine ever that EVERY game has couch co-op, first game machine in over 25 years that doesn't allow violence, nudity, sexual content, bad language...etc.., etc.., etc...
All of our marketing is going to play to our strengths and what makes us super unique and stand out among the others.
I already bought 2 FE but I will take one of each of the other colours !!! I love it !!!
On a side note, it could be argued that the switch comes with 2 controllers although not really because you can not play Zelda for example, with a single joycon.

Local Co-Op high scores and Local single player scores. But not for 8 different scenarios.Makes sense ! Sometimes I go a bit crazy !!! Lol ...will there only be a place for initials ( 3 spaces like most arcade games had) or some extra space if you are multiple people Playing ? I am referring to coop high scores Thx

Has been understood here, and myself really appreciate your time and efforts with sharing this industry-rare insight during the system and game development.
I appreciate it so much as well. This is another Intellivision “first” lol ..........no other console developer has ever given this type of insight before and since IE has full control of both console and game development, it works out perfectly ! Thx to all of the Intellivision team !!

WAIT! HOLD ON!! One more surprise! You didn't think we were done yet did you? Our last big reveal of the day is that Amico is going to come with SIX, yes SIX pack-in games (instead of 5)! Keep checking back with us to find out what Game 6 will be – we’ll share the exciting news in the coming months.
Enjoy this video of the 5 confirmed pack-in titles coming with EVERY Amico at launch, including our SOLD OUT Founders Edition and upcoming limited VIP Edition!
#1 - SKIING - Watch out for trees, logs, big cliff jumps, icy ground, avalanches and of course...the hidden Yeti! (He may even 👋) Up to 8 players can compete for the best times against each other on 10 different slopes OR up to 4 players can battle it out at the same time in Ski Cross mode! You’ll be tempted to bump your buddy off a cliff or into a 🌲
Who do you want to ski with first?#2 - 🦈!🦈! SHARK! SHARK! - So much ocean to explore! Play the updated version of Shark! Shark! on Amico in single player, co-op or versus mode. Everyone in the family will enjoy this one, no matter what your age or skill level. Did you play the original growing up? If so, please share some of your memories!
#3 - ASTROSMASH - One of the first and most popular original Intellivision games! In the new Amico version you can play cooperatively WITH each other or AGAINST each other in versus mode. Which would you prefer?
#4 - 🌽⭕️ CORNHOLE - such a strange and uncomfortable name, but hey, we didn't come up with it! 😜 If you had to re-name this wildly popular and growing sport, what would you call it? Hundreds of unlockables and so many different challenges, skill levels and ways to play with family & friends (or even single player if you'd like).
#5 - FARKLE - We just love saying this word over and over again. FARKLE! FARKLE! FARKLE!! Wasn’t that fun? You'll be able to see and shake dice on your controller, then toss them up onto the screen when it's your turn! How many of you have ever played Farkle? 🎲
Wow !!!!! You just made me want the Amico even more if that’s even possible . I can’t wait to try all of these games with my family !! Coop , VS , high score competitions ! Bring it on !!!!! I never played Farkle but it looks fantastic 😄

I think it's a solid set of five games so far. I'm guessing the 6th game is going to be one of the new IP's or a party game. It's definitely not going to be bowling. That would just draw too many comparisons to the Wii, and while Amico is going to draw on some of that popularity, it also wants to have its own identity.
Yes definitely a party game of some sort I think. He keeps taking about that new secret game. That has to be it !!

Then every 2 weeks (or so) another $10.00 game (at most) so that means 26 games in one year....$260.00...I do get that $25.00 gift card....
And I get a $50 gift card ! I’m ready to buy all of the games 🤗

As for the system sellers... I'm not sure the Amico will have one (or at least not for a while). I think the idea of the system itself IS the selling point.
It's hard to have a system seller or "killer app" when all games are priced $10 or less.
I know I know bowling for the wii. I get it. But Nintendo was at a different time then and it was a new thing. Also Nintendo spent a lot of money on technology and landed upon the wii remote.
I'm not saying the Amico won't one day have that killer app or system seller.
What I am saying is it doesn't necessarily need that at the beginning because its appeal is family.
So it need to be simple enough for parents to understand, affordable enough to get the newer parents in on the ground floor, it has to be e10 or e for everyone to be truly a family machine and it need to have tons of quick pick up and play couch coop games (or Entertainment)
So. It needs to be S.A.F.E.
And not necessarily have a "killer app"
😉
You sold me !! I agree 😄

I’m happy with the pack in games. They all look like fun but I do hope that last one will be something really new and different. I would hope for a Killer app for the casual market. Something people will talk about that will really drive system sales. That one really special game is needed in my opinion for the casual gamers. (Much like wii sports or more specifically wii bowling drove sales through the roof) I will love most if not all of the games, but i am a super fan and had the Intellivision as a kid. I really hope that secret game is something really new and different that will sell systems. I don’t think any of the first 5 games announced are system sellers. Although I am super excited personally for each and every one of those pack in games !!! Thoughts everyone ? Im trying to see this from a casual gamer’s perspective who had never heard about this console. I’m always 100 percent in 😃😃😃

The 6th game could be anything, but the reason why I said Night Stalker might not be the best choice for a pack-in game is that it's more geared towards hardcore gamers who would probably pay for it (even though I think I would have paid for Skiing as well).
I agree

A board game would be awesome as #5 as well ! #6 has to be that secret microphone mystery game or whatever it is.

I see and can understand the anger issues better now . I just want to have fun and I like the Amico and will buy it ! Buy whatever you like and have fun whatever console it is. I like them
all 😄
on a related topic, I have no time to spend hating and prefer to spend my time talking about my passions and hobbies As opposed to spending time on sites and newsgroups that I am not interested in. I don’t get why people do that.

I loved that game !! I used to play it all the time on my Atari 5200 ! Great multiplayer fun !
