  1. Thanks for the help guys! I've just bought myself a copy of RE 1.5 for the PS1 from ebay. I also bought Goldfinger 64 (total conversion mod of Goldeneye) for the N64 from ebay too, the game looks amazing! Luckily I'm pretty sure I don't have to have a modded N64 for that one.
  2. I think so, because when Googling universal chip, some of the results have the word modchip in them. I'm not sure if there is only one type of modchip, or different types. If there are different types then I'm not sure what type I'd need. I'll have to try and look into this further.
  3. I spotted a PAL copy of Resident Evil 1.5 on ebay. This is not an official mass produced copy of the game since it never got released. I asked the seller if the game would work on an unmodified PS1, and he said "To use the game you need a ps1 with universal chip that also reads backup cd or pc with epsxe emulator." I've tried looking for PS1's on ebay with universal chips, but nothing comes up. I've tried Googling universal chip, but nothing helpful seems to come up. Even Googling how to play Resident Evil 1.5 on a PS1 only seems to give me results of how to play it on an emulator or PC. What exactly do I need to do to my PAL PS1? Or what kind of a modified PS1 should I buy to be able to play this game?
  4. Was just looking around on ebay and found a couple of clear orange cases for the newer model PS1. I've never seen any clear or clear coloured cases for the newer model PS1 before. Here's the links if anyone is interested in getting one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONY-PLAYSTATION-PSOne-REPLACEMENT-CONSOLE-SHELL-Clear-Orange-Housing-Case-Mod/363308116189?hash=item5496d9e8dd:g:QOcAAOSwu51gJReX https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONY-PLAYSTATION-PSOne-REPLACEMENT-CONSOLE-SHELL-Clear-Orange-NEW-Housing-Case/373479485430?hash=item56f51caff6:g:RUsAAOSwUwVgJQ79
  5. 3D printed? No, these were mass produced in the late 1990's in Hong Kong. Interestingly, for some reason the majority of these and PS2 shells that are for sale on ebay are in Venezuela.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions Intellimission. Since you like platformers I totally recommend A Bug's Life and Monsters Inc. Scream Team / Scare Island. It's a shame though with Monsters Inc, that after completeing it there doesn't seem to be any reason in going back to it, as there's no scores or times to try and beat, no harder difficulties to unlock, etc. Unless you just want to play through the whole game again. I'm going to get either a region free PS1 or a Japanese or American PS1. I will get the right model which I will be able to put into this rare third party clear PS1 shell that I have.
  7. I started properly playing games on a PS1 very late (around a year ago), I don't mind the blocky graphics as they have a certain charm to them, and it's a representation of where video games were at at that time, which is interesting to me. I think it's a really great console, it's got lots of great games and I'm having a lot of fun on it, currently playing Gran Turismo and Resident Evil. I think I'm going to start playing the first Tomb Raider tonight, I'm really looking forward to it and I've never played it before, I love The Last Revelation on the Dreamcast so I reckon there's a decent chance I will love this. I think as far as games are concerned, the PS1 is just as good as the PS2, which I also really like.
  8. That's interesting. Before seeing the posts of people hanging the scarf on their walls, I was going to post that I wouldn't mind getting one, and that I think it'd look quite nice pinned up on my wall above my small standard definition gaming setup.
  9. Something you found difficult, rather than say, completing a ridiculously easy game. It doesn't even have to be a game, it could be a console that you managed to fix which you thought you may never get going again. Last night I managed to get my A license in Gran Turismo for the PS1. I wasn't expecting to get it anytime soon, because I found some of the tests really, really difficult. There were a couple of tests where I spent about half an hour on each, just doing the same thing over and over again, only being about a second out every time. Finally I managed to pass them which I felt really happy about, now more of the game is unlocked for me, as I couldn't enter that many races with just a B license.
  10. I would like to buy a clear green Ghostcase for a PAL/Euro original Xbox. Thing is that Ghostcases are made by an American company, so I'm unsure whether I would be able to fit a PAL/euro Xbox into one. I asked the company that makes Ghostcases, but they said they didn't know, and I would probably be better off not taking the risj of buying one. So, I guess what I'm asking is, can any model of PAL/Euro Xbox fit into an American Xbox case?
  11. I was about to post in this topic, but then realised it was created in 2008. But what the hell... Not much Blue Stinger love in this topic, it's one of those love it or hate it games. Personally it's one of my all time favourite games, it has a lot of charm and it's great to play at Christmas while drinking some of the hard stuff. Super Runabout. It's like an unpolished ropy Crazy Taxi, but with a lot more to it as there is a wide selection of vehicles, and you do missions as well, it's a lot of fun and has a lot of charm. Sonic Adventure Resident Evil 2 Buggy Heat Powerstone Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Streetfighter 3 Third Strike Centipede Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness
  12. I don't hate any console makers. Nothing wrong with them trying to make their console become No.1, they are businesses after all. I remember in a Dreamcast magazine that the people who wrote for it were always crying about big bad Sony, it just seemed childish to me. I love the Dreamcast, didn't really have any plans on getting a PS2 as well at the time, but then when it was announced that the Dreamcast was going to stop being made, I thought it was a real shame, and that since there wont be any games being made for it anymore, maybe I should look into buying the PS2. Eventually I saw advertisements for Gran Turismo 3 and GTA III, and I thought I've got to get me a PS2! And I'm so glad I did. I still love the Dreamcast though.
  13. I have a US 3DS XL and the USB plug at the end of the charging cable is plugged into a two pronged US plug. I just wanted to make sure it will definitely be okay for me to charge the 3DS XL by plugging it into my step down converter. If it is, which socket should I plug it into, the 110v one or the 100v one? If not, would it be okay to take off the US plug, and plug the USB plug into my 12v 17Ah jump starter?
  14. For me they seem to be less noticeable the lighter/brighter the picture is, and with certain colours. At first the wavy lines were not visible at all most of the time with any of the games I played, and when they did sometimes become visible in certain places on the screen, due to a particular colour/shade/darkness/whatever, they were very faint and not that noticeable. It was like this for a few months, but now they've suddenly got worse, they're noticeable on the screen in certain places most of the time with whatever game I play and I cannot un-notice them, even if I turn the brightness and contrast up, so this spoils my enjoyment of playing a game. When I get around to it I will try fixing it. Hopefully it's just something simple like a capacitor needs changing or something.
  15. I agree, it's a beautiful setup, really nice looking TV.
  16. Unfortunately my 21 inch Trinitron has developed a problem, it now has faint swirly/wavy lines on the screen. So I've had to break out the ol' Matsui 14 incher.
  17. These days I've been trying out all of the PS1 games that I have which I haven't played yet, so I can decide which games I want to keep and which games I want to sell. Tekken 2 (PS1) didn't really enjoy this as it feels too sluggish, like the characters are moving through treacle. Stock Car Racer (PS1) not that great. Croc (PS1) very enjoyable platformer.
  18. I loved playing it on my Atari 800XL back in the 80's, it's a very interesting game, I think it's a lot better than the original Pac-Man. The surprising thing is, is that the Atari 8-bit version is a prototype, it never had a retail release, I never knew this back in the day. How I got a hold of it was I just copied my Nephews games that he had on disk, and one of those games was Super Pac-Man, his disks were copies themselves which were copied from someone else. Crazy how the original prototype was in America, and then I end up with a copy of it on disk in the UK.
  19. At first I thought you meant game cases. I have a red one and a blue one. I'm not sure if they're made by the same brand as the ones in your link. I made an unboxing video of them.
  20. Here are my CRT's. A 21 inch Sony Trinitron that I play standard definition games on, and then in the cupboard, another 21 inch Sony Trinitron, a 14 inch Mastui, and then in the box under the Matsui is a 1983 14 inch Sanyo which you can see in the last picture.
  21. Thanks man. At first when I saw someone's Jag in a Youtube video, I noticed the red LED, and I thought 'has his Jag been modified?'. Then I found out that NTSC ones have red LED's and PAL ones have green LED's.
  22. Here's the unsealing. https://youtu.be/LLSe4hm5ds0 I've also been playing the game and I actually really like it, I can't understand all the hate it gets. So far from what I've played the game doesn't seem broken in any way, and while it can be quite challenging at times, I'm not finding it so difficult that it stops the game from being fun.
