Retron 5 no power issues
kevincondrick@gmail.com replied to kevincondrick@gmail.com's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I was just wondering if it was anything people know what the issue was. I just bought the lot because it was cheap and was hoping to get some things worth while. The Retron was the most interesting. I never had one so I thought it would be cool to fix. Took some time looking into it nothing I could do tho. Saw some videos on yt about it because certain components on the board. I found mine had the same problem but different results. Didn't work when I changed them. I'll post a link to the video https://youtu.be/6XiKwdaZPpI -
Retron 5 no power issues
kevincondrick@gmail.com replied to kevincondrick@gmail.com's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well I did the same thing with mine I put in a 12v power supply in instead of a 5v. I didn't leave it on long but It definitely wasn't good. the lights did come on for like a second very dimly but then I realized that I put the wrong one in and changed it and the lights were brighter but it didn't turn on just the lights came on when I plugged it in. Now I did check the components inside and yah I definitely blew out a couple things but I replaced them and still don't work -
I just recently picked up a Retron 5 from a job lot on ebay. There seams to be no power. Iv done some testing I found a couple blone components, so I replaced them. It still did not work is there any information about this or what could be wrong. I'm sure my replacement were correct so idk

I did manage to get windows on the m.2 drive. It was weird because when I did the reinstall for the Atari VCS os I thought it deleted the windows Os on the m.2 but it turns out that I just needed to have my usb plugged in so I can get to the boot menu and it was there. So yes install windows to your m.2 drive works, you just have to have your USB plugged in to take you to the installation menu then hit except to get out and go to the boot manager.

I've been trying to get my Atari VCS set up so I can use both PC mode and VCS mode without uninstalling and reinstalling. I did put a m.2 drive in and installed windows on it. The only problem I have now is, it wipes out the VCS mode and I can't switch back unless reinstalled. Is there anyway to install both?

Is My CPU Dead?
kevincondrick@gmail.com replied to kevincondrick@gmail.com's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Yah sorry the picture wasn't better but Im pretty sure it's a burn cuz it smelled like it was burnt out. Also I don't notice it before until after it stoped working. So I'm betting if it is the problem then idk where to go form there. I may need new RAM. But I thought when the ram wasn't Inserted that it wold have a beeping code. It don't do that or anything if none was in. -

Oo I just found out yes it was probably ram related. I definitely put it in backwards and burnt something out. As you can see, the one pin is definitely burnt. So I may have bigger problems then just ram. The motherboard might be shot -
Is My CPU Dead?

Yes I am looking at it now. I don't have the fan on so idk. The PC powers on and says on but nothing displays. I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter so maybe it's that. But yah the ram I believe was put in backwards because I had 3 different ones I tried and 2 of them had 2 slots noched in and the one only had 1. Also it smelled like it burnt out on the ram card. -

I believe I may have bricked my PC. The problem first time I noticed it after I forced shutdown. I pressed and held the power button for several seconds and didn't shut off so I just unplugged it. I suspect that it may have been doing a bios update. I didn't have a monitor to hook up to so there's no way to tell for sure, but it seams to me I may have bricked it. -
Hi there i recently started messing with a HP pavilion 500 to get into classic PC games . I was installing some new ram on it and I may have put it in backwards and not release it. I I'm not sure if the PC is working or not for I have no monitor to test with. I had to test all my ram chips I had so I plugged and unplugged ram a few times. I did have success with hearing the drives start up a time or two. Now it doesn't matter if there is ram or not no dives spin now. Also it used to beep when there wasn't any ram in. Now it don't do that. So I took everything out and tested and noticed something sounds like it's spinning by where the CPU is. So I took it out and tested and it stopped. So I'm thinking I may have blue out the CPU with those symptoms. I am just a amateur to this so maybe it's an easy fix or not. (Note when I say it's don't beep with no ram In, it still turns on and stays on but don't beep. ) does anyone know that it could be.

I still have yet to play this game. I did however get the demo to try it out. As much as I played so far it seams like you really need to know what your doing. It's a cool game tho I love the graphics and the sound design. Makes for a fun experience. I should have a physical copy here in a day or two. The only thing is will windows 10 support an older disc game? P.S I've been playing it on the Atari VCS. Awesome ways to play it

I also saw they had it on steam and played it for the first time. Really cool music and I graphics are neat. Really glad you could help. Always wanted to play it and now I can. They Also have online version that's that's called Multiwinia maybe I'll try that to

I believe it was I believe it was for Windows 95 or xp. I believe it was kinda like a tactical strategy game like you set out troops and fight the other stick guys. But I don't know for I never played the game just remember having it as a kid and always wanted to play it. I just remember seeing the back of the game there was red stick figures fighting the green ones. If that's what it is I don't know.

I have a blerry picture of it if someone can recognize it that wold be awesome. It's that big green box
