  1. Hi. Yes, holding option each time. I believe some of issues I have had with Fujinet potentially related to network stability, and thus due to dropped packets / lag, the timing of holding option was off (not long enough). I'll be revisiting this, but spent a long time during and after that video investigating and there is something definately wrong. My wifi is solid for all other devices, and AP is close by. It's Ubiquiti / Unifi equipment. I eventually found the fujinet when conencted was dropping a lot of packets, and at times would not connect at all after making the video. I'll investigate further , and likely stand up a simpler wifi network to see how this goes, and heard roumours of a new unofficial firmware (though did update to what I thought was latest before).
  2. Thanks for the spot. You are correct, I am referring to the SIO2PC-USB device. I noted from a little googling there seemed to be more than one device people were calling SIO2USB, at least one of which was a similar cable to PC as opposed to the flash solutions you mention, which I saw referred to as SIO2SD. I certainly don't want to add to any confusion, so have updated description of video and edited contents to reflect my error.
  3. Totally agree with you here, and yes, video intended with target audience being a newby simply wanting to load games on an old Atari. In that scenario, perhaps connecting to a TV that isn't near a PC, thus multicart / S Drive Max and Fujinet would have portability as a plus. Having an SIO2USB however indeed cuts out a step of loading software to an SD card for numerous purposes you mention, and is a great solution. I' not sure I went into much detail in the video, but I have been using SIO2USB / RespecQT for archiving a collection of 5 1/4 disks I received with an Atari from ebay where there were some interesting multi-game menus. I was able to preserve some images using RespecQT, however others have been challenging, I believe potentionally related to Happy mod emulation issues. I'll press on with that in due course, as imaging to multi-carts seems mostly unsuccessful with unusual disk formats / protection.
  4. I think connection stability was my main issue, perhaps marring my experiences with Fujinet. I was using earlier today and had a multitude of issues, including refusing to rejoin my wifi network with an unknown error, and seeing lots of dropped pings when it did connect. I tried later outside the case, and did have some better stability, so I wonder if I have an issue with my particular unit. My wifi access point is very close by.
  5. This is likely old ground for many here, though for any new or returning to Atari, you may be interested i've made a video about my experiences with various modern disk / rom image loading methods on my Youtube channel. Opinions in this video are my own, and would be great to hear from others on their thoughts and view in comments on the video. In my other videos I look at various Atari 8 bit and ST games I remember from my childhood. https://www.youtube.com/@TJGames-Atari Thanks for watching if you do and have a great day all.
  6. Wow, I can't believe this thread only just started. I happen to have just recorded a video on Miner 2049er on the 800XL on my Youtube Channel. Hope you enjoy
  7. I've just uploaded a new Atari video on Miner 2049er. Hope you enjoy!
  8. Just pinging this thread re new content uploaded. I'll try to upload more frequently, and also try to keep the videos shorter and less obsessivly long than my Ninja walkthrough / failed completion attempts. Appreciate comments here, however also great if anyone interested could engage via comments on the Channel, as I believe it helps more people see my video's via the Youtube algorithm if I understand right. Thanks for watching if you do. https://www.youtube.com/@TJGames-Atari-Fortnite
  9. Some new content uploaded last night. Detailed look and play through to completion of Ninja by Steve Coleman. Yes, I know it got a little long, I became somewhat obsessed with multiple attempts to complete the game again after succeeding relatively quickly, only to find my recording failed. Typical it took another day or two and at least a dozen more attempts to do it. I give comments and tips re the way I play the game throughout, however I added chapters, so feel free to skip the multiple attempts and just watch the start and final attempt if you wish, I won't be offended! Hope some of you enjoy this one.
  10. Yes, agreed. I started remembering the tune fondly, then later.....not so much 😀
  11. That's not my website, I just used it as had a good chronology and order of released Atari hardware. I'll have a further review if I have time, but it's not really main focus of my video, just used to set the scene. Though AFAIK the 600xl and 800xl WERE released after the 1200XL as low end and high end machines and 800xl became much more popular. If says replaces 800XL you are correct, but that is clearly just a typo / cut and paste issue, so we can let the author know......FYI, I tried to comment on the page in question, and the comment didn't appear, so I'm not sure if comments are turned off for that post now, or if they need review before publishing. The author seems active on that site, so will take another look later.
  12. I uploaded more gameplay videos last night. More to come.
  13. Thank you 😃 I have a few more games I recorded lined up to post about that need video editing over next day or so before I can have some more fun playing.
  14. Good evening all, I'm an occasional lurker and even more occasional poster on this forum, which I was delighted to find was a thriving hub for Atari related activity when I first discovered it during lockdown. Following information and advice from numerous experts frequenting Atari-Age, and on other websites dedicated to specific projects, I was able to learn much and receive an immence ammount of enjoyment from my Atari and a new found interest in retro electronics and upgrades. For some time, i've wanted to create something to record my efforts and perhaps inspire others, so i've put together this video on my Youtube channel, and hope to go on to record more Atari gaming and hardware content in the future. So thanks to everyone in the community for everything you do, and hope some of you enjoy this (and please like the video and subscribe to my channel if you do ) Goodnight, TJH
  15. I think I have confirmed the Hokey to be the issue here. I was able to switch with a Pokey from a socketted 800XL I have, and the audio issues went away. So have a bad Hokey I guess?
  16. I've recently received my Concerto with Hokey, and experiencing what sounds like may be the same kind of hisses and pops for Ball Blazer and constant noise in background when playing POKEY (Sample) (20140301).a78 (Daisy Bell Test) from atari-7800-roms-ultra on internet archive. Commando sounds ok, albeit with Pokey music a fair bit lower than TIA volume, and reading above about R14 bridge solution, however wondering if I have a bigger problem here? Do you think I may have a defective Hokey also, is this common, or is there anything else I could perhaps test here? I'm using an AV mod as detailed here (7800 PAL revision) , with Pokey audio taken from Right of R33. https://vintagegamingandmore.com/pal/ Thanks for any suggestions.
  17. So much to do, so little time to Atari of late. Had the S-Video output working for a while now, but not audio till this evening. I had tried the stereo audio mod i referenced above using output from pins 12 and 13 of the TIA and found it adversly affected video output, which seemed completely corrupted. I'm unsure i had any audio output at this point, as i aborted and reversed things to assure myself i hadn't damaged anything(which i hadn't - video all normal when desoldered and pin's returned). Would be interested to know why this happened if anyone has ideas, but not sure if i'll go down this route now. With a little further research, I found i could take mono audio from R209 after lifting that resistor, and its crystal clear. I'll leave things like that for now, and just need to decide how i'm going to route Svideo and audio outside the case now. Not sure if i want to install ports and damage it, so may opt to secure all wires and route the way the old RF cable went. Will research further whether any benefit removing RF modulator which is still onboard. Could it cause any interference? Any further components now redundant worth removing?
  18. Good evening all. I've recently successfully installed a UAV into a light sixer and tested so far composite Output and looks ok. Guide I followed was here, and I included additional power wires from elsewhere on the board. I need to make a cable for S-Video, however in the meantime also need to sort audio output. I read in another post that you could take audio from C207, and saw suggestion that resistor perhaps should be disconnected. Have tried both before and after following that suggestion and pulling the resistor at base of where I had soldered a wire to where C207 connected. Seems I can hear audio, however only when I turn sound up really high and there is a lot of hiss and interference. I just read this : https://silo.tips/download/382-chapter-8-atari-2600 Suggesting can take Output direct from pins 12 and 13 of the TIA, and take a Stereo output of sorts. As a relative ameteur to electronics (though succesfull with installation of a few mods now on 8 bit Atari computers), I'd like to understand: 1) Why the low level audio output with solution I tried, and could I add componants to improve things? 2) What do the additional components do in the link above where audio taken straight from TIA, and why are they needed? 3) What's the best way to take audio output - modification of one of these two ways, or is there an easier way? Appreciate any advice, as unsure from searching around which way to go. Thanks.
  19. Guess that makes sense, but would yield to the expert's opinions here. Weird thing is I'm now struggling to duplicate the problem! I'm about to go away for weekend so will need to come back to this. Started to work on using Copymate to archive some disks and it was reading just fine before I hit weird density mismatch errors on the write to ATR, but consistantly seeing SD card and mounted ATRs. Will report back here if it happens again.
  20. Ok, fixed again by performing the reset with button C and remains ok with a few reboots of the Atari!?
  21. And now it's gone again. It stopped working this time after i unplugged the usb providing serial output. I put it back but remains erroring again. I saw the directories i had copied to both 64gb and 2gb cards before it started failing again.
  22. Hang on.....this is most odd. It's now working. I have no explanation for this as don't think i changed anything. Even tried another (stock) 800XL earlier to rule out anything weird with updates (HSIO from U1MB for example, though had soft disabled that) . Investigating further..........
  23. Got it - here you go : This? : [17:10:54]E (1071) sdmmc_sd: sdmmc_init_spi_crc: sdmmc_send_cmd_crc_on_off returned 0x106 [17:10:54]E (1071) vfs_fat_sdmmc: sdmmc_card_init failed (0x106). [17:10:54]SD mount failed with code #262, "ESP_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED"
  24. In the above I booted it, then tried to access a 2GB FAT32 SD card I had just fully (not quick) formatted on Windows 10. Thanks for looking
  25. Good afternoon. I've had my 1.5 Fujinet a while now, however as also own a Side 3, I have never used an SD card in it, only connected to online servers. I want to archive some discs from a 1050 onto ATRs on an SD card, so tried to get one working. Slot 1 on TNFS host lists is lablled SD, and I have tried a few SD cards in the unit, known working on a PC. All fail with "ERROR OPENING DIRECTORY" . Tried Fat, Fat32 and Exfat formatting and cards i have are 2gb and 64 gb. Any ideas what to try here? In web interface SD size and SD used remain zero for each card. Hoping not a fujinet hardware issue. I just flashed the latest avaliable firmware also, but no change. ( 0.5.f8cc4292 2022-01-03 23:24:24 ) Thanks.
