  1. Hi All, New to the Lynx world... normally I'm a Nintendo guy, but I decided to expend my collection some, and bought a Lynx II. Anyway... My system came with one cart that wouldn't boot, so I decided to try out the suggestion above. BUT... I did it a little different. I used my hot-air soldering station, turned down to 130 degF to soften the glue on the label. That way, it was easy to peal back. Then I heated the board to lift it out. I could tell the old glue had shorted, and corroded some of the traces. I scrubbed up the board with 91% IPA, and got a bunch of green on the cotton swabs. After a good cleaning, I could see that the trace on the top edge of the board was totally corroded away, and wasn't making a connection with the pin on the edge of the cart. I carefully scrapped away some of the epoxy covering the chip, and was able to uncover enough of the trace to get a small solder pad from it. From there, I used striped 30ga wrap wire to replace the bad section of trace. Oh... the through hole for that trace was also bad. So the wire goes through the hole, and was soldered to the opposite side of the board. (Should have taken a pic) So... for the guys who still have a dead cart after cleaning, use a meter, and check the traces. If you have a steady hand... you can probably bring them back. Hope that helps.
