  1. just got down watching this does look great like you can't wait for the physical
  2. I'm playing it on the Vader S video modded to a retro tink and outputted to an HD TV via HDMI I think that's the issue, last night I tested some of them my other 2600 that's connected via composit directly to a CRT and the ones I tested all played just fine so far. Weird because for the most part most worked fine but like I said some of them always skipped. I have Juno First Galagon Gorf Wizard of Wor Stay Frosty 2 to name a few.
  3. When popping in an Atari Age cart that has the opening "Have you Played Atari Today" little jingle has been skipping on all my carts, Some it never played right all the way through, most have been fine but now none of them do. Game play is fine, sounds effects on the games are fine, nothing wrong just that opening jingle Has anyone else experienced this?
  4. I agree. I like that game, I still have a vivid meory of picking that up at Ames as kids and sending in my entry to the contest. Found one on eBay that was in pristine condition. I think it has a small space in the Atari 2600 lore
  5. it also showed us how much better using multidirectional joystick was than the combination left right stick and up and down fire buttons on the arcade. I know a lot people love the button layouts on many arcade games, but to me space invaders, Defender, Asteroids all just play better with a joystick.
  6. what I did like about the atari version was using a city backdrop vs a mountain backdrop, just made more sense. how many people are wandering around in the basin of big mountains? Slim pickings for those Aliens.
  7. yeah I with you on the Xbox for modern controllers, just got my son the Elite Series 2 Pro controller, Holy Crap that thing is wonderful, love their dpads and I hope they never stop making them with swappable batteries.
  8. It's the Mona Lisa of Video Game consoles Congrats and enjoy,
  9. Yeah I find that the most bizarre delay. I ordered the standard one and got it within a 5 days. from my understanding the SE is just additional paper work like a manual and different colored label and box. I could see if there were some special features or additional levels in the game but as far as I know the game itself is the same as the standard it's just the paper products.
  10. I wonder if it's a gender thing, my son got his for Christmas and so far no signs of slowing down. and it better not, he begged and begged for this thing.
  11. yeah I enjoy getting my 11 year old into the older games, he likes the orignal basketball, frogs and flies, bowling and Demaon Attack, right now he and I are in a big Sonic phase which is a lot fun. He's much happier when he's done playing retro games. When he gets off his XBox he becomes possessed by some demon. LOL It's insane some days.
  12. well you can think of it like discovering penicillin, LOL but in all seriousness the sound works and works well . Great job on this
  13. Name This Game Laser Gates I don't know if s counts as hidden Jewel, I just rarely hear it talked about when discussing IMAGIC games. Pele's Soccer
  14. It really would have been interesting if the 7800 was handled properly and marketed well, and released before the NES, with similar graphics and the arcade hits looking almost spot on and coupled that with the backward compatibility to everyone's 2600 library, that would have made the transition to a newer console a much easier sell to Parents during that time. I can see many parents opting for the 7800 for their kids because of all the past money spent on 2600 carts. would have been interesting indeed.
  15. I would absolutley say yes, many many of the games are not only still playable but still enjoyable and fun. Love playing Sonic, and NHL 94, Minecraft, Halo, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart but I also love just as much if not more playing Kaboom, Pitfall, Space Invaders, Ms. Pac-man Centipede, all the Champ Games I have like GORF, Scramble, Wizard of WOR. No matter what I'm playing whether it's the Switch or the Xbox or the Genesis, I always finish up with a round of something on the atari.
  16. Yeah the Halo Xbox is neck and neck with the 2600 with me it's just so awesome looking.
  17. got this over the weekend as part of the last chance, I absolute LOVE this version. Not just because it's on another level than the original but also because of how it plays, the AI on the ghosts is just fantastic, it so challenging but not unbeatable like Junior Pacman for the 2600, but much more than the original and Ms Pacman. When you complete a level even the first cherry level, it's like "Whew, OK let's GO " It also has has that sound and feel that it's an atari 2600 game. Love that it uses the sound used for ET moving around as the sound of the eating the pellets. The graphics are such a step up from the original but still retains that distinct Atari Look. Like this would have fit in with the realeses that came out 1982 1983 and into the red label era when it seemed like everything started to come together in terms of graphics etc. ie Phoenix, Vanguard, Defender II etc. Just a great great game.
  18. Im not so sure that it will never become a thing, the younger teen and pre teen generation seem to be enamored with the metaquest. If my anecdotal story of my 11 year old and all his friends and kids at his school is any indication of how other kids across the country are viewing VR then it may have a solid future to build on. The metaquest was among the most asked for and received gifts this past Christmas season. That's all they every talked about. They all go to each others houses and get on those things something so odd yet funny walking into the game room and seeing three or four kids with their headsets on yelling at each other, bumpbing to each other. I guess they all love Gorilla Tag and Among Us in VR. So I don't know, I think it has a future if it can keep them interested.
  19. What are your top 5 best looking consoles It can include present day consoles as well. Mine are 5. Xbox series X ( something about that minimalistic tower with the grid and green on the top) 4. Black Wii ( man that was so sleek looking) 3. Sega Genesis ( screamed cool ) 2. Halo special edition Xbox (just so effin cool looking) 1. Atari 2600 Six switch woodgrain ( it's still the best looking imho) honerable mentions Vectrex N64 ( not a huge fan of the system but I loved that wavy look it had to it )
