Bob, sorry - i didn`t understand Your request of course - it is not a secret : (little bit reworkde for pcb, but using wincupl You may reassign pins) Name 800 xl 22v10 ; PartNo 00 ; Date 2009-12-27 ; Revision 01 ; Designer Engineer ; Company lotharek ; Assembly None ; Location ; Device g22v10 ; //* *************** INPUT PINS *********************/ PIN 18= ras; PIN 19 = i2 ; /* ref */ PIN 1 = i8 ; /* cas */ PIN 2 = i9 ; /* Memory enable */ PIN 5= pb1; PIN 6 = i5 ; /* PB2 */ PIN 7 = i6 ; /* PB3 */ PIN 8 = i7 ; /* PB4 */ pin 9= pb5; pin 10= pb6; pin 11= pb7; PIN 13 = f21 ; /* PHI2 */ PIN 22 = o18 ; /* XA14 */ PIN 23 = o19 ; /* XA15 */ PIN 4 = i3 ; /* A14 */ PIN 3 = i4 ; /* A15 */ PIN 14 = o17 ; /* cas64 */ PIN 15 = sa9; PIN 16 = sa8; PIN 17 = o16 ; /* cas2simm */ PIN 21 = map; PIN 20 = be; o19 = (i3 & i6 & !i7 & i9 )# i4; !o18=(!i4 & !i5 & !i7 & i9 )# !i3; o17 = (i3 & !i4 & !i7 & i9 )# i8 # !f21; !o16 = (i3 & !i4 & f21 & !i7 & !i8 & i9 )# !i2; o15 = ( !i7 & i9)#!f21; sa8= (pb5 & !ras) # (pb6 & ras); sa9= (pb7 & !ras) # (pb1 & ras); a= !( pb7 & o15); b= !(! pb7 $ o15); map= !( a & !( b & map)); c= !( pb1 & o15); d= !(! pb1 $ o15); be= !( c & !( d & be)); FlashJazzCAT: look at delay line - especially for track going from place where pin no 10 shoud be. it goes to via just beneath delay line, rght ?? CUT IT !!!! then connect : * pin 10 of delay line with pin 5 of U19 (74LS14) * cut out via form truack with pin 11 of U18 (74LS08) and that is all run XMST

SPLENDID !!! now, You have below simm 5 pads : - connect them with pia adapter - i will not descibe to You the signals present at the pins ( I know You are able to do this and will bring it more fun) You have there ( in mixex order -- sa9, sa8, ras, CasG, cas64) :-) so, follow this: - conenct sa8 from pad below simm with sa8 at pia adapter - conenct sa9 from pad below simm with sa8 at pia adapter - conenct RAS ( simm pin 27) from pad below simm with RAS at pia adapter - conenct CAS ( simm pin 2) from pad below simm with RAS at pia adapter DO NOT CONNECT cas64 -- You have already done it -- check with multimeter !!! finally: - look at the right side od simm adapter ! at this particular moment, connect left and middle holes together that will supply the same RAS signal to simm and PIA board`s 157--> SA8,SA9 switching. Later, I will describe how to delay RAS signal to CAS line timing - some ataris do not like simms ....This trick make them be simm lovers You finish -- ATARI SHOULD BOOT - but ...You will net see 1088 KB (50%) last thing is delay line chip connection to be modified - no worries !! 2 short pieces of wire and one CUT with sharp knife .. or axe if someones preferes
-
So, You must have done sth odd . We do not touch anything with video output. anyway -- may I have detailed picture of your board form above?? ps. swap xa14 with xa15 by PIA

Flashjazzcat : short manual here : http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/151629-atari-800-xl-1-mb-board-for-freddy-and-non-freddy-comps/page__p__1853169__fromsearch__1entry1853169 1. remove simm form socket 2. folllow manual let me know anyway, meanwhile, I have done smoe major changes in 1mb simm expansion All You need is gal22v10 chip (soon tests with 20v8) and simm to build functionall 1mb in atari below pins desciption, jedec files attached, also newest board for 800 xl and 65 xe without exp slot as soon as i fnish tests with new boards, manuals and kits will available.....(i hope 2 weeks) also, simm adapter has been redesigned.. And that is all folks (hopefully) in the topic of simm expansion for 800xl from me for now - now lots of testing and ....YES - desoldering all previous versions and soldering back new ones...eehhhh....i love this and i wish a dobe has 36 hours at least.. not exactly... i have noticed when you take phi2 form pia, timing mod is not required. i have 800 xl taht works without mod
-
yes, of course, thnx Candle.. i forgot to write about it.
-
it is for 800 xl / 65 xe with 1bit memories... 1. desolder 2 of 8 memory chips..(some of higher ones belwo modulator) 2. solder into atari board 2 precision sockets. 3. look at the holes in simm holder pcb 4. fit another precision sockets trough simm holder so they fit inside sockets soldered into atari board ps. it is sth like sandwich : socket, simm holder pcb, socket --- in that way that sockets is plugged into socket with pcb between them 5. solder 6 wires form 6 holes in the middle to the rest of memory chips pins 2 - DATA LINES - this way You will supply all d0-d7 to simm 6. solder wires from simm adapter to pcb under PIA 7. below simm are 3 holes -- connect the left 2...i will expalin later -- just check that there is connection between memory pin 4 and sim pin 27 (RAS) ps. You will get form me newee version - completly out of charge...for testing and fun - but....it will not be this week anyway ..... manual is almost ready...but i have rewritten jedec for gal for 16v8 and now testing... i`d like to use just one g22v10 for whole logic... first tests show it is possible...

Metalguy -- first of all i`d like to thank for Your opinion about the pcbs.. You know, my slodering iron (ayouge s. station) also reaches higher temps (900) but i use 700-750 and no probs so far. quality of the boards - i assume You have ordered some pcbs in company i cooperate with if You are saying quaility is shitty ??? So, I`d like to present FINAL solution for xe - 65 and 130 XE with 4bit memory - 1mb upgrade created by Pasiu - pcbs designed by me so...what You will need : - desoldering tools - soldering iron - 30 cm of thin cable and .... 10 minutes of time !!! Look at the picture : Step by step: OPTION 1 - desolder all memory chips from board (2 or 4) - 2 minutes - solder back in lower banks 2 precision sockets - 1 minute - solder into the board simm EXP logic - 1 minute - connect with wire simm adaptor, mmu and simm logic - 2 minutes - insert simm adaptor into the board - insert simm into socket -- READY !!!!!! OPTION 2 - desolder two bottom memory chips in 130 xe - 65xe do nothing, except clearing the holes - leave upper two chips in their places - solder into the board goldpins ( 4 row of 9 pins) - insert simm adaptor onto golidpins -- SOLDER them ! - solder into the board simm EXP logic - 1 minute - connect with wire simm adaptor, mmu and simm logic - 2 minutes - insert simm into socket -- READY !!!!!! expansion doesn`t affect vbxe or anything else...Time -- 10 minutes, EASY ! even my just married wife said it is a piec of cake ps. and that how it looks next to VBXE in my modded Lothari:
-
Why don`t You try with 1 mb ???

Yes and no 3 boards have minor mistake. now i`m waiting for corrected ones also, will be available with smimm adaptor with simm socket for 5minutes soldering

Hello 1. nice monitor !! 2. memory chips desoldering at first ! , then sockets into the board. Later - memory chips - IHMO to avoid problems with refreshing at leat one must have different timing. (200ms)

the problem with sio2sd case is that lcd displays are not equal sized. I know at least 5 producers with 4-5 size variations. All work I do is hand-made and difference of 1mm causes lcd fall iside the case. The same is with board. Whilst building my devices I use smd version of sio2sd .....and it really takes long hours to assembly (anyway, its fun but not for everyone - beginings may be a liitle bit frustrating). ...
