Hi there!Having the 2600 receive MIDI would require using a fairly fast opto isolator along with two resistors. I'm not really sure what the purpose would be, since the 2600 would be very hard pressed to do ANYTHING while awaiting MIDI input. Each bit of MIDI data is 38.18 cycles, and while awaiting data the 6507 must poll at at least twice the bit rate.Part of my plan for this was to add a little chip that will parallelize the MIDI data, feeding a whole byte at a time to SWCHA.
It may be possible with some horribly bloated code to keep a screen display going while receiving MIDI data, but even just maintaining vertical sync would be difficult. No display is required at all. You hit a key on the keyboard, the VCS plays it, that's all.
Then, once one does all that, what does one have? A crummy two-note polyphonic instrument which can't even play in tune. What's the point?Ask those guys buying the Synthcart. It's a synthesizer that can generate audio output. Of course oldskool elektro musicians and ancient synthesizer collectors want to have stuff like that. Must be the musicians version of those weirdo people that still play 8-Bit games

Greetings,
Manuel
Thats a very interesting project.I look forward to hear more of that.I own alot ofsynthesizers but the VCS sounds pretty unique, like a distorted Guitar.
