  1. I recently purchased a group of games on eBay. Included with them was a game with no label. It is obviously an M Network game cartridge but there is no label or even residue that would suggest there ever was a label. Unfortunately, it did not work even after a thorough cleaning. So I have a few thoughts. The first is that I have one of the seventeen mostly so-so game cartridges put out by M-Network and it simply doesn't work. Second, I have one of the six Prototype games made using M-Network game cartridges and it simply doesn't work. Third, I found the rare "Invisible, Silent Game" Fourth, I found the holy grail of programmers cartridges and when I sell it on eBay, I will finally be able to purchase that small island country I've been dreaming of ruling. Fifth, "Your game arrived in really bad shape. We tried for hours to revive it - used every life-saving technology that we have, but your game didn't respond and died anyway. I'm sorry for your loss." Any other thoughts? Anyone wanna trade a large sum of money for this incredibly rare and IMPORTANT archeological find?
  2. 1. Solar Fox - There is no 2600 game that is as addictive or that has you reaching for the reset button for just one more game. 2. KaBoom! - although given my setting, I'd prefer an altered version where instead of a Mad Bomber, there is a mad cannibal. And instead of ordinary bombs, they could be coconut bombs (anyone remember the disney version of Swiss Family Robinson?). 3. California Games - Hey, any chance I get to hackey-sack! 4. Super Breakout - Sometimes the most basic games are the best. This version of breakout has various games, like multiball, but the absolute best is game 7. Not only do you need to deal with speedballs, weird angles, etc., but once you get past the first wall, there is another right behind it - and they start coming down. Hit a speed brick and the walls come down faster 5. Maze Craze - As long as you're looking for a way home....... This is a really fun two-player game with lots of variations. Figuring out how to get through the maze (different every time you play) is jus the start. You have to avoid moving walls, fake out your opponent, try not to be killed, etc.,
  3. As a kid, I loved the arcarde game Crazy Climber. There is a 2600 version available which I understand is pretty bad from a graphics and playability standpoint. Given it's 8/10 rarity rating, it is also pretty expensive. The last three I have tracked on eBay went for about $70 each. Given my desire to stick with the 2600 format, what are my options? Are there other games with different titles that are obvious ripoffs of CC? Have there been any hacks, prototypes or homebrews that will fill my longing?
  4. I've committed to getting there naturally, even if it means losing my job, house, wife, children and dog. I'm gonna get it. Just a few more resets and I'll get it!
  5. I guess I'd be about twenty+ years late for the contest then. This game is AMAZING. What I love about it is that it is never the same twice. The top and bottom shooters never fire the same way and so each game is drastically different! As an example, I put it on two player to give my wife a shot (unnintentional pun there, sorry). During my Player One run, there were NO SHOTS fired at all during the first screen. During her Player Two run, she couldn't get past the first screen b/c the shots were blowing her out of the sky! This game ranks right up there with KaBoom!, Frogger (and F2), river raid (and RR2), and dragonfire for games where you keep hitting Game Reset "Just One More Time!"
  6. My 8-year old an I have been rediscovering the great 2600 games of the past and we are loving SOLAR FOX!!!!! OK - so I've got to "H-E-L-I" in the secret code part and have been unable to go further. Admittedly, we looked up and discovered HELIOS is the complete secret word. So.......now what? What does discovering the word HELIOS (or rather discovering most of it and then cheating) get me? Does the game do something special? Do I win a million dollars? What gives?
