Thank you very much. Currently I cannot verify it but I hope, it will work. It looks like it is not on Jon's webpage right now, where I could find only the version dated 28-11-2020 It includes all issues, what I reported here on last weekend (already tested). Have a nice day, Peter

Frankie, may I ask you where can I find the link for update? Despite spending time to search I am not able to find the post with the link what trub is mentioning. Thank you, Peter
-
Where is the link ... not able to find it. Can be posted with the note where it is mentioned? Thank you, Peter
-
Trub, I installed it from Jon's updated page yesterday night, but it is the same, what you gave me last time and I reported issues. It looks like, no correction jet on it. Or I missed something? Peter

Áll other software, running from HD, including TBXL 3.2q is running without issue. Interestingly, MS Basic 1.0 is blinking with TD ON under SDX 4.49, but nicely running under SDX 4.49e. If I am not wrong, some of the software running from SIDE3 LOADER are doing that, blinking. Peter

DRAC030, Jon, trub, The results in the attached ZIP file with direct photos from the monitor for authenticity . I hope, it will help. Regards, Peter BXE 4.2 and TD (Peek-Poke).zip

Ooops! I overlooked it, on the PC monitor, My vision is blurry after surgery ... Ok, I will do it, now I am not at ATARI. Thank you for patience. Peter
-
Sorry, I answered on your questions immediately. Again: the DPEEK(88) is 31808 ... What else you would like to know? Peter
-
Drac030, It is only to prove, the BASIC XE 4.2 is fully functional. The issue is out of it. I cannot say, where, because I am not the SIDE3 or/and SDX designer. Thank you to find your time to take care of issue. Best regards, Peter
-
Thank you DRAC030 to move the issue to "SIDE3 preorder". I understood, you are not dealing with SIDE3. What you are asked for it is here: (of course, it works only without Extension file) ? DPEEK(88) is 31808 with SIDE3 Cartridge (SIDE3 Loader - BASIC XE 4.2 from Jon) ? DPEEK(88) is 40000 with ULTIMATE Cart (SIDE3 Loader - BASIC XE 4.2 from Jon) Attached the prove it is working correctly from ULTIMATE Cart under SDX 4.49 Peter BXE_4.2_from_ULTIMATE_Cart.zip

Videos attached here, showing, how the BASIC XE 4.2 behaves without BASICXE.OSS extension file. Additionally a video about Action!. Evidently the extension file includes errors. The blinking is probably from wrong handling of interrupt by SDX (I guess) Stiil the SDX 4.49e (alpha) from trub. Peter BASIC XE without Extension File.zip

Correct. It is the issue with that SDX 4.49e version what I had originally installed with UFLASH.XEX from Jon. (say, virgin installation ) The TD freezing issue after entering the first Basic command is came up after replacing SDX 4.49e with (alpha) version from @trub given me a few days ago. He wrote me, I have to use it by my own risk ... of corse, if I am experimenting/testing things, the risks are there with not finalized software. I tried to go back to the original version of SDX 4.49e by reinstalling U1MB, flashing to ROMs for SIDE3, but the trub's version of SDX 4.49e remained there ;( By-the way: In previous post I forgot to mention, how could be tested, the extension file is correctly loaded: a) without extension disk loaded, if you put: ?1/0 or PRINT 1/0 (division by ZERO) and push RETURN, you can see error message: Error - 11 b) if the extension file is correctly loaded, the result from the same Basic command will be: Error - 11 Overflow/Underflow Peter

Is it important? I guess, the forums are not the places for languages from pubs. And finally we are not friends to accept it like a joke especially by the age differences between us. Finally, I did not gave reason for it with my simple question on the beginning of the whole "conversation". So, it is sad.

Hi Drac030, Did you try it on the stock ATARI or with Altirra Emulator? I never use Emulator, because it is not really compatible with stock ATARI and the "good" result is misleading . I made an experiment, using ULTIMATE Cart. I put in SD card there BASIC XE 4.2 (CAR) next to the original BASIC XE 4.1 (CAR) Unfortunately both BASIC versions are using equally named Extension files of BASICXE.OSS. But they are different in code. Both BASIC XEs are working correctly with own BASICXE.OSS extension files running from ULTIMATE Cart Menu. If the extension files exchanged between version 4.1 and 4.2 both BASIC XE identically crash at initialization of BASIC from ULTIMATE Cart. If I use BASIC XE 4.1 with its BASICXE.OSS from SIDE3 Loader, it wrongly behaves, totally like version 4.2. No differents. It looks like, a wrong address adjustment is present in Extension file for SIDE3 Loader, but it is related also to SDX 4.49e issue (alpha) version, what I installed from file, given by @trub a few days ago. So, the symptom is the same under that SDX 4.49e, when the Ready is appearing in BASIC. Any Basic command can be written, but after pushing RETURN, the system freezes. Pushing ATARI Reset button does not help, similarly the pushing Reste button on SIDE3, only the switch on back of ATARI. With previous version (what I would like to put back - but I do not know, how, because I do not have that file) the BASIC XE was seemingly fully functional, expect when the ATARI Reset was pushed. After that the calling BASIC XE with CAR command, the system crashed. Peter

Hello Trub or Drac030, I would like to replace the SDX 4.49e (alpha) (what trub gave me in last day) with previous SDX 4.49e in SIDE3 Where can I find it? Thank you, Peter
-
>> Version 0.22 of the SIDE3 loader is available for download here: Thank you Jon, I downloaded it. Peter
-
Thank you, I will tex it also, currently I ran files, what you put there previously with BXE42p. The D1: was defined from SD card in SIDE3. I try to upload pictures, also tried SHOWPIC.BXE . The loading of extension file starts and freezes on monitor, but pushing Reset on ATARI the Basic starts with "Ready". Looks like functional, but the program stops at line 1270. Using Dir command second time, the print of files was disturbed with colored squares and picture was jumping. Peter
-
OK DRAC030, I will experiment with files what you posted here. I know very well, the work on SIDE3 is not your job, really, I do not have clear picture about people related to different parts of this project. It is more complicated, than the projects before, so understandable it needs more time and effort to clean it up from "bugs". I am following the things and after long quiet period I just dared to ask about the progress, evidently irritated people ... so sad, unfortunately I reacted also irritated. My intention was different and peaceful, did not expected aggressive answers/reaction and what's more, impertinently saying some people into this communication, who was not addressed in. We are not in the jungle, I guess. Thank you for your patience, Peter

Just forgot to add the following. The only thing is different between BASIC XE 4.1 with SIDE2 and SDX449 and BASIC XE 4.2 with SDX 4.49e from April 2020, the SIDE2 version of BASIC XE 4.1 is re-startable in any situation, from re-boot (Turning ON ATARI, or leaving U1MB setup). The cartridge, defined before stays there. With original SDX 4.49e if I leave BASIC XE 4.2 with DOS command and start it again with CAR command, it works perfectly. If I go to U1MB and leave it pushing B or I just push RESET on ATARI, tha CAR command leads to crash of new start of BASIC XE. Peter

Drac030, I downloaded again, what Jon put it above. Unfortunately, same result, of course, with that SDX 4.49e version what I received from trub, he wrote to try it for my own risk. Of course, I would like to test things if it is possible. I am testing with intention to report, if I find something. If you accept my "complaints" it will help you if it is really a bug in the SW. My intention is not to criticize your work, your efforts! So, I attached a ZIP file with photos and videos to explain my findings: 1) Video: Cold Start of SIDE3-SDX449e.mp4 You can see, it is not booting correctly. Does not matter, it is the SDX449e from April, or trub's (alpha) version. The differences between older and (alpha) are in using TD ON/OFF together with SIDE3CLK.SYS - in previous version missing. a) In previous e version I could not use TD ON/OFF b) latest e version it works, but the initialization of TIME and DATE after entering data ends with frozen system, ATARI should be restarted by its Power switch. The entered Date and Time is correctly defined, despite of crash of their definition! c) Going to U1MB setup and leaving it with B pushed, the system is not starting with SDX449e, the rolling BOOT ERROR is on the monitor. Pushing SIDE3 Reset and in sequence the ATARI Reset leads to normal initialization of SpartaDOS. 2) Video: BASIC XE 4_2 with TD ON (finally with that, what Jon gave here today also) behave equivalently. a) The Config.sys file: CONFIGSYS.JPG with SIDE3CLK.SYS and in AUTOEXEC.BAT "TD ON". b) The picture is synchronously blinking with mosaics on screen. c) Any BASIC command leads crash (ATARI Freezes). Reset ATARI: wrong re-boot of SDX. 3) Picture: SIDE3-TD OFF.JPG no SIDE3CLK set in Config.sys and TD OFF in AUTOEXEC.BAT a) The BASIC XE Starts correctly, no blinking monitor, but still the whole system freezes, same like in 2) b) With SDX 4.49e from April 2020 BASIC XE 4.2 works perfectly with its Extension file from ATR image. For test I also ran that CTESTNTSC.BAS program with success, what I sent to Eric Botcher to find errors in BASIC XE 4.1 Extension file. 4) Picture: Starting BASIC XE (from Jon).JPG just showing the folder with files, what Jon sent me around a month ago. No changes, modification on files, used "as is". Above explained, it crashes with (alfa) version of SDX 4.49e received from trub, but correctly working with previous SDX 4.49e. 5) Picture: SIDE2+SDX449+BASIC XE 4.1 - showing nicely functional BASIC XE 4.1 with Extension File of BASICXA.OSS. I do not see differencess between functionality of BASIC XE 4.2 with Extension under SDX 449e from April and BASIC XE 4.1 with SIDE2's SDX449 OSS cartridge. I hope it explains what I am talking about and why asking for new updates on SIDE3 and from DLT group. Thank you, for understanding, Peter Drac030.zip

Jon, do not humble yourself to the bottom. Hmmm! Peter
-
Jon, please stop blaming ... you are totally out of the original question. It does not make feeling of anyone better. I asked for updates - you totally ignored my polite inquiries and now you blame me I was bothering you. If you remember, we had before very healthy and friendly communication and you always appreciated my contribution by my findings to improve the system. I never wanted to turn the things to this way. You changed your mind, what very supersized me, because I did not give you any reason for it. I am very wondering on your strange behavior making me your enemy, repeating meant wrong intentions from my side. Please, I am asking you to stop it. Thank you and have nice evening. Peter
-
Drac030. Yes, it works if you do not start TD.
Try with TD ON to see, what I reported. I wrote about it
Before these (alpha) release The TD was not functional,
or SIDE3CLK.SYS was missing from CAR. The TD could
not be activated. Now it works perfectly with a following
issue:
I found yesterday, the using of TIME and DATE
command freezes the SDX after TIME/DATE modification
pushing ENTER. If I push RESET, SDX is not coming back,
just the cursor on Top-left, but cannot be moved.
The ATARI needs (Help+RESET to push and
start with B from U1MB) or use the physical
switch of ATARI to OFF/ON the machine.
Draco - it is not complaint, just a feedback,
what is always my intention, not to bother people.
Thank you for understanding and to care about the "issue".
Maybe I am wrong, but my intention is to help.
Have a nice evening,
Peter

Jon, I am sorry, I guess, it is losing any meaning to answer for your detailed, very personally taken things. Go back to the beginning of communication. I really politely asked a question in 1-2 sentences, not accusing anyone with ignoring some "responsibilities" for something. What did you expected, when you are always answering with complaining about my few e-mails from past, maybe in months time distances between them. I guess you were who inspired me do not hesitate to ask or report something, what I found or guess it is not working correctly. I did not think it is really that big issue how you are painting it in the front of the AtariAge public. I understood, what you wanted, I rarely visiting forums, but I followed your wish. Despite of aversions to do this, I agreed to follow your advise. If there is nothing to ask, believe me, I never go to find answer that way, what you wished. I just was asking ... nothing else ... Why was asking? Because I had feeling, I missed something searching on the official webpages of these projects. If the answer is short, not blaming me for past communication between us I am fully satisfied with it. You are always react very irritated ... despite I do not attack you with any my inquiries ... To trub and Draco. It is really generous to do thing voluntarily and to give the results to the public. I always appreciate(d) it. trub sent me a link for latest update on SDX 4.49e, what I thank him very much. He wrote it is the may responsibility to use it. Of course, I took it with that knowledge and I am not complaining. I just sent back my findings, like a feedback, the information to help the DLT group if they missed that. I guess, nothing is wrong on it. I wrote, I can see, the TD command issue on preliminary release of SDX 4.49e was solved, but what I found, the originally working BASIC XE 4.2 (thank you Jon to give me the files) on SDX 4.49e is not working correctly against release of SDX 4.49e from April 2020. Of course, there I found the issue, related to the RESET on ATARI, to use again CAR command it leads to freeze of BASIC XE. If the RESET button is not used repeated use of CAR leads to correct work of BASIC XE. With latest release from trub the BASIC XE 4.2 used with previous "e" version is crashing with blinking picture and colored structure on it. Is it wrong to give feedback about it? Hmmm. Versions of BASIC XE 4.1, after a few modification by Eric was working perfectly under SDX 4.49, looks like issues, listed on BASIC XE manual and SDX documentation, was solved perfectly. So, AGAINST !!! I do not blame anyone for some bugs, it is understandable in the development process - but do not be irritated, if I report that bugs. If not me, some one else will report it. Will you be irritated with that? I should fully understand, the current pandemic situation in the world make us very irritated, but it does not mean, we have to be bad against each other. Really, I did not wanted, this whole communication, started with my really simple inquiry will lead to this nasty end. I try to forgot it and deeply appologize if some ones personal feeling was touched by my reactions. Peter

trub, Jon, Draco thank you for your answers. Of course, I am familiar with issues using BASIC XE + Extension BASICXE.OSS (BASICXA.OSS). I guessed, feedback is welcomed about the findings. I did only that, without any intentional criticism or malice or personal attacks on authors. Unfortunately, I got in last hours lots of ironic attacks on my communication on these pages. Just to clear the picture. I was not the initiator of the whole thing where the words ran high. I just simply and politely asked about the status on projects, because on the official pages I could not find any answer on them, despite of frequent visiting the pages for updates. Like in past I tried to get answer from the main actors of ATARI projects, in long period of time without any reaction. My question ALWAYS related to some evident issues or was reports about findings, what the authors are always asking for. So, I did not do any wrong thing or I personally did not attacked anyone to get answer with total ignorance. I understood, there is a forum (AtariAge) where I can find answer on my questions or reports of finding ... Answers on my simple questions was not technical, but blaming me I am disturbing people in their voluntary work. ... Finally I bought the products, did not still them to ask for free support on them. Of course, if I am buying something, I expect some support for the products, not the teaching, how impatient I am. ... I also do not believe, only the manufacturer of the products is benefiting from selling. ... Do not make my fool, please! So, answer on simple question about the status, generated tirade of complain I am disturbing people with my senseless questions. ... What's more, people, who was not addressed, making inappropriate impertinent notes on this pages, addressing to my. Please, keep them to yourself! So, I do not want to be that type of person. I still would like polite and constructive answer for concrete inquiry, without personal blaming for something from past. Again and lastly, what I proposed: In the word, where the products are selling, now mostly on internet and given to the public almost, like prototype, the good practice is to inform customers about the progress on the projects. If the customer pays for something, he/she has full right to know, what can be expected, where and when can find updates on evident issues. With the easy example I finish this "communication". Maybe some people are familiar with LTspice project, millions of people are using that simulator. The perfect practice of the author (I know him personally) this excellent project was always to inform the users about the progress, changes on the project on the webpage or directly in the Change Log file with dated info. This info was always public with intention to inform users about the progress. ... I am expecting something similar on Jon's or/and DLT's page ... It will avoid this situation, what was not my intention to progress in personal attacks on me just for simple inquiries. Best regards, Peter
