  1. They’re probably right next to the Ark of the Covenant.
  2. Good deal, Kyle! I’ve been having dreams like this for years...glad they could become your reality.
  3. Fireball for the Supercharger is a Breakout-like paddle game. Although the fancy graphics disguise it, I would consider Kaboom! somewhat Pong-like.
  4. Nice theory. Though... I have a 2600 pirate console with arabic letters on the box. Not all languages using the Arabic alphabet are Middle Eastern...Persian and Urdu come to mind.
  5. I recommend not confusing language with the things it attempts to describe.
  6. I might feel that that person is ignorant: battery is most definitely a singular noun, and its plural is batteries. No, it’s not the same, so long as those people aren’t under the impression that the Beetle is Volkswagen’s only automobile. The Beetle is the first product I think of when I hear “Volkswagen”, but if I were to hear something like “no Volkswagens were produced for the US market between 1979 and 1998” (or whatever the Beetle interim dates were), I would consider that claim dead wrong.
  7. Sloppy words, sloppy thoughts, sloppy deeds. Recently, when a friend invited me over for Thanksgiving and suggested I bring my Atari, I wasn’t sure which one she meant! Church, for a while the 2600 was the only Atari system (at least, the only programmable Atari system), but since that distinction ended more than two decades ago, I think a little more precision is in order.
  8. A 7800 Pac & Pal would have been nice. So far as I know, that game has never been converted to a home version. But yes, a more-or-less arcade-perfect original Pac-Man would also be a welcome addition to the 7800 library.
  9. I like both the arcade game and the Atari 8-bit version. The only drawback is that seeing all those treats in the maze stirs my cravings.
  10. Always glad to be a pain in your neck!!
  11. StanJr, you silly spider. You could just remember that row 1 is 1·2·3, row 2 is 4·5·6, etc. But I doubt even that is necessary. Don’t you get a tingling sensation when you’re about to press the wrong key?
  12. I’ve seen that HP printer before (there’s one at work, and I’ve spotted it at Wal-Mart). My initial impression was that it looked like some kind of starship. Such futuristic styling is a throwback, for back in the day tech products often looked futuristic. Today they look like art deco...or just junk.
  13. Did Woods mention playing such games as Atari Golf, Miniature Golf, or My Golf? If not, perhaps it’s because he wanted to avoid mentioning competing products.
  14. You can still buy it for PS2 to thank Ken...you just won’t be playing it.
  15. Amen. That’s a pretty funny comment, considering what this Web site is for...
  16. It’s not so much a moral sin as it is a sin of stupidity. Just kidding. As Ilovecircusatari points out, you may be in a VCS funk right now; considering how much time, money, and energy you have invested in acquiring your VCS collection, you may want to wait a while longer before taking any drastic steps. Perhaps you should keep the collection as is while observing a moratorium on new acquisitions (unless something fabulous just happens to jump out at you). You could even go ahead and reduce your collection to unique titles during this moratorium. But I caution against getting rid of the entire collection until you are quite sure that that is the thing to do. Perhaps you haven’t played the right games, as MegaManFan suggests; perhaps you haven’t really spent time with your own collection. Maybe you need to sit down and try some games, read the manuals, chat with fellow AtariAgers, etc. and develop a deeper appreciation of the ol’ VCS. I did have one as a kid and enjoyed it, but a lot of the old games I enjoy now are ones I never played—in some cases, never even heard of—back in the day. Learning a little about the programming limitations, the corporate politics, the development histories, etc. has helped me appreciate the world of the 2600 all the more. And who knows? Perhaps you’ll get to forge new memories along the way. Warlords is a neat game, but it’s neater now that I get to play it with an enthusiastic ten-year-old now and then.
  17. The various double-ender suggestions all play on some similarity between the two games, but maybe it would be wiser to choose games that complement one another, for a more well-rounded experience. For example, Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel’s Castle and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
  18. He may be stuffed full of it, but ol’ stove-top stuffing is better than potatoes.
  19. The Bugle was right! You are a menace!! BWA HA HA HA HA!!!
  20. I agree with that, but many german sites have an option to choose between German and English, so why can't they have an option for another language too? Maybe these authors want to stick to what they’re best at. I’ve seen many sites presented in two or more languages, and sometimes the translations leave much to be desired. As a native English speaker I can attest that sometimes I would rather read the original German, French, whatever because the English version is too unintelligible! And frankly, even though I can write in a few different languages, there’s only one that I write well.* So, I’m not going to take these Polish writers to task for not writing in English or some other language they’ve not chosen to use. If they end up making their site multilingual, great, and if they don’t, that’s fine too. * That’s English, in case you were wondering.
  21. Heh, that's a good idea, can't believe I never though of that. H*ll, I"m gonna try that right now. Any good combinations? Stargate & Defender II
  22. Frankly, I’m glad the pages are in Polish, even if I don’t know how to read them. I think it’s exciting that there are Atari resources available for those who are most comfortable in Polish.
  23. I don’t suppose you’ve tried toggling the B&W/color switch...
