And the weirdest part is that Qix wasn’t made for the 2600, which might have something to do with its not being mentioned in a “weirdest Atari 2600 game concept” thread.

OK, OK! Some of my favorites: [*]Beany Bopper [*]Gopher [*]Millipede (Centipede is good, too) [*]Q*bert [*]Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel’s Castle [*]Snoopy and the Red Baron [*]Space Invaders [*]Star Voyager [*]Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back [*]Yars’ Revenge ...However, you already have some of my other favorites! Get yourself a set of paddles (or two—some of these have awesome four-player modes) for the following: ) [*]Kaboom! [*]Video Olympics (a.k.a. Sears Pong Sports) [*]Warlords

Congratulations! Welcome to a grand new world.

I, too, have spent a lot of time playing Demon Attack , but I’ve never noticed any glitchiness. Aren’t there two different ROMs for this game? If so, perhaps I have the debugged one. On my cart I get an extra bunker at the end of a wave during which I’ve lost no bunkers. However, no additional bunkers are awarded if there are already six in reserve. The actual number of waves is irrelevant.
-
Er...you’re forgetting about Yars’ Revenge...
-
Ay, there’s the rub! Some releases might have been simultaneous. Some carts may have even preceded others with lower numbers, for any of a number of reasons. Even if there were, it’s conceivable they no longer exist. Yeah, I’m just full of encouragement.

Oh! And here I thought sdstuff64’s friend was conceding the argument by declaring the 2600 “merry” and “lively”!

:? Apple is faring far better than Atari (for one thing, Apple’s still a company ).

In English, too, we also call ultraviolet “UV” (though we pronounce it differently, of course!). —Das Nachtphantom

Joyeuse fête nationale française

Joyeuse fête nationale française ! Mangez toute la brioche que vous désiriez !

Of course, the title and the artwork don’t guarantee that the game itself would have borne any resemblance to the movies...much like Friday the 13th: The Series. Just a thought.
-
Remember that joysticks and paddles were included with the early VCSes. Therefore, the stock CX30 paddles were also “standard”.
-
I have one of the deluxe models and am disappointed. While the form factor is excellent, the joystick is actually too responsive. Too often I find it triggering some direction or other when I’m trying to hold it in neutral, and letting go when holding it in some direction pretty much guarantees it will snap back and momentarily trigger the opposite direction.

Well, AtariAge has an “Arcade Coin-ops” board...

In a browser that correctly implements CSS, the positioning properties should not override font-family and font-size. Try viewing the page in some other browser(s) to see how they handle it.
-
Inky, I'm not sure I follow your example, but it's possible you have simply run into a flawed implementation of CSS (not all that surprising, really!). It looks like my description of the universal selector was misunderstood. The symbol for this selector is an asterisk; the parentheses are not part of its syntax but were used simply because I was indicating the asterisk parenthetically. The * selector stands for any and all elements; so, theoretically, td and all other elements should take on any style prescribed for * . Whether all CSS2-savvy browsers correctly implement this behavior, I don't know. It was not part of CSS Level 1, which I suppose would be one reason to avoid dependency on it in some situations. The * selector can be used in CSS wherever an element name can in complex selector expressions, for example: [*]*.special [*]ul > * [*]*:hover

I have never played James Bond 007, nor am I a Bond buff, but the game's manual identifies the three stages as being from Diamonds Are Forever, Moonraker, and The Spy Who Loved Me.
-
James Bond 007 seems to be based on the movie series, as opposed to being taken directly from the novels.

From the Towering Inferno game manual: Towering Inferno Trademark owned by TWENTIETH CENTURY-FOX CORPORATION and used by U.S. Games Corporation under authorization. I don't know why the Towering Inferno license passed from 20th Century Fox to US Games, but it does seem to be a fact. Possibly the license was granted before 20th Century Fox decided to make games based on its movies; maybe it was even a test case. This is pure speculation on my part, however.

Just remembered: Towering Inferno.

I hastily devised a slightly different list: [*]Adventures of Tron [*]Alien [*]Alligator People [*]E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial [*]Fantastic Voyage [*]Ghostbusters [*]Gremlins [*]Halloween [*]King Kong [*]M*A*S*H [*]Porky's [*]Raiders of the Lost Ark [*]Sorcerer's Apprentice [*]Star Wars: Jedi Arena [*]Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: Death Star Battle [*]Star Wars: The Arcade Game [*]Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back [*]The Texas Chainsaw Massacre [*]Tron: Deadly Discs The differences are in part due to my own oversights. Other differences stem from MattyXB's inclusion of games that are related to movies but aren't necessarily based on them, such as Astérix, Superman, and Spider-Man. But maybe that's OK for your purposes.

It seems you should be able to achieve the same thing using a body or universal (*) selector. Then again, a lot of things that should work don't, at least across all current browsers.
