I recently purchased an ICD The Link off ebay for use with my 1040 STF. This version of the is simply labeled "The Link" not a Link2 or a Link 97. I've searched the web for information specific to this adapter, but haven't been able to find anything. Most of what I've found refers either to the Link2 or Link97. The only bit of information I've found about this adapter is that it lacks support for parity. Hopefully, someone has the following answers:1. Can I use SCSI drives larger than 1 GB with this adapter along with the HD Driver software?
2. Can I use SCSI-2 or SCSI-3 drives with an appropriate cable adapter?
3. Do SCSI-to-IDE adapters work?
Thanks
Hi there
The answer to your Questions is Yes, Yes, and Yes
1 You are only limited to your Partitions and Drive letters.
Quote From (Uwe Seimet)
There is not limit imposed by HDDRIVER, but only the operating system
limits. TOS limits the number of drives to 14 (with HDDRIVER you can also
use the IDs A: and B: for hard disk drives, if you do need two floppy
IDs).
The maximum partition size for TOS 4.x is 1 GB.
Note that with MiNT or MagiC as operating system there is no limit for the
partition size and you can use at least 23 partitions.

I currently use a SCSI 3 unit conneted to a SCSI 1 adapter and it works fine
BUT you MUST diasble parity on the Drive or it will not work.
3
From what I have seen on the web I have no reason to beleive it will not work,
I cant put my hands on the doc at the moment, but someone did a step by step
setup with the same hardware.
Hope this helps

I just picked up my first Atari computer, a Mega ST4 that seems to be pretty tricked out (AdSpeed, ICD FAst hard drive with 2 drives, 4 mb ram). In the deal, I got a lot of MIDI equipment and software that I have no clue about. Some titles I remember are Logic, Cubase, Band in a Box, and many others along with 3 pieces of hardware that seem to give more MIDI ports.I have no real interst in this stuff and would like to see it go to someone that would appreciate it, but I have no idea where to go for info or where to even start. Are there any good sites out there with this info and is there anybody here that might be interested in some of this?
Thanks!

Hi Guys
Does anyone have any indepth knowledge regarding H/D floppy mods to 1040 STes?
On the later versions, they were supplied with Socketed Ajax Chips with 8mhz crystals
to the right of the Ajax Chip, has anyone tried repalcing the crystals and running 1.44
floppy drives from the Boards without any other mods?

Mega STs/STe, well, sometimes they fetch more but right at the moment there are approx 10 Mega STs on German ebay, going for between Euro 1.00 - Euro 50.00. Here's a Mega STe for Euro 10.00:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ATARI-Mega-STE-Monitor-...1QQcmdZViewItem
Here's one for Euro 6.50:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Atari-MegaSTE-mit-S-W-H...1QQcmdZViewItem
Even a 804 for Euro 2.00 (Interface and cable extra)(3 days to go and no bids yet). Some cheap TTs on German ebay at the mo too. And Porfolios.
So they are very easy to replace....
All Atari listing:
http://computer.listings.ebay.de/Klassisch...ListingItemList
But here in the US; Mega STE's,TT's and Falcons get much more money. I think there harder to find.
I wish i had access to cheap TT's and Falcon's....

I have in the past picked up a TT 030 from Germany for around $200 AUD including shipping and had no problems at all.
Australia uses simular power voltages anyway, so I just plugged it in and away I went.
If you get the German Roms replaced with UK or US Roms and remember that the Z and Y keys are reversed on the keyboard you'll end up with a great machine. with a 9 gig drive upgrade and 128 meg of TT ram installed it will run anything I can throw at it .
Guys, Bargains are out there but you have to be persistant and have Patience and Ebay Germany is a great place to start

Hi there
If you are not in a real great hurry for a replacement Drive, I could send one out to you
in a few weeks, that will boot up straight away on the controller you already have.
keep what you have got, and go for a scsi drive as a replacement drive with the ICD Drivers
You controller card is a very popular ICD card and has a good reputation with scsi
drives, using over 1 gig drives will give you plenty of Disk space.
Send me a PM and give me your details for shipping if you are interested

I think, from what I have seen, the 27C1001 and 27C010 are the same, just different manufacturers, but I may be wrong!!!
Is there anyone that can verify what chips I would need to burn TOS to both a 2 chip and a 6 chip version?? Thanks.
Yes the Chips are the same (27C1001 and 27C010) if look closely at some Original 1.4, 206 and Tos 306 chipsets you will notice thay are at times mixed with both types.
If you can setup your board to run the 2 chipsets you should not have any problems running tos version 1.4 and with mods you can run tos 206 (only for advanced users with some soldering skills) with no problems
I hope this helps

GuysFrom what I just picked up recently was that one person on the TT030 Unix project
said that NO TT030 16mhz were released with the UNIX SVR4 software and that all suspect TT030 units were sent back to the factory to be fitted with the 16 mhz chipsets. "I will supply the Docs if any one is interested".
Going over his time he spent with Atari in the early nineties with development etc it is a pity that Atari never went ahead with the SVR4 project.
The tools that was used for that release were so good that today they are still desired by some developers in the UNIX world and made life a lot easier to develop apps.
Does anyone still run the Software and tools that went with it?
I am hopeing to put together a MIdi app that includes all the bells and whistles simular to Smptetrack with Sound font , audio and VST support while PCs never did get the timing right on Midi stuff " my opinion "

Hey Chance,
Are you referring to Hans Martin-Krober? I know him well and acquired many items from him last year. My understanding is he was the lead programmer for the System V project.
Yes thats the Guy, He had a very involved time with the SVR4 prpojest and my impression was that he would have loved to see go on to completion " production"
It seems lately that a lot of Developers and programmers are coming out of the woodwork and seem very keen to help in any way to promote that " The ATARI" was not just a Games machine but a serious contender on the Desktop platforms.
I personally am surprised that the network side of things never progressed any further as they had the resources and ability to do that and give the competition a scare at the same time.
what does the SDK comprise of and what were that Atari Admin tools like? I have heard of them, but never seen them yet to play around with. and what did he give you as "items"?
