  1. Hi,just got a complete 7800 today,at a thrift shop.I was wondering what the original" rf "(i think its called),cable looked like for the 7800,you see,the one i got,has a 1.5 inch by 2.5 inch box on the rf cable, about 6 inches from where the rf plugs plugs into the console, ive never seen these. Is this the right cable?cause i dont want to damage the console,i was lucky enough everything works!Thanx guys!!!!!!

  2. @ Rik: I still don't see how Atari programmer (a.k.a. peon) HSW was in a position to say with such certainty that he must have known whether it did or did not happen. As has been said many times before, much of what Atari did, now appears to defy logic (as apparently almost as much did at the time it happened!) This renders his argument of the logic of recycling moot. I think he's more likely to say that it didn't happen, in an attempt to protect his own reputation.

Regarding the odds, given the original Alomogordo newspaper article, I'm about 95% certain that Atari buried something out there. Hoaxing such an article doesn't appear to serve any purpose, unless the article's author let her imagination run away with her on a slow news day. (Is every day a slow news day in Alamogordo?) :ponder:

Yes,good points you have brought up,I see what you mean

  3. I think he tried his best,in a very COMPETITIVE business, and meant well, cant blame one person for the fall of a company, there are countless reasons for the fall of atari, which can be attributed to numerous people as well as economic reasons, basically the whole market was flooded with bad games it was getting ridiculous, its quite obvious numerous games were put out for the sole reason of getting a piece of the video gaming craze pie ,while it was still there, and it reached its peak, everything reaches a peak, then starts over again, with something newer and better.

  4. Howard Scott Warshaw was asked in an interview if the burying of unsold E.T carts was true,he said it WAS NOT,and if you think he said this in defense or embarassment,he went on further saying,"I wish it was true,I'd think it would be pretty cool that I helped bring down a multi-million dollar company".He also reasoned with the same arguement I have,in that "does it make sense a company would bury hundreds of thousands of cartridges, when they could have sold the parts for recycling for other products, etc, there would have been an ENORMOUS amount of money from the recycling of those carts alone".I hear good points from both sides of this debate,I'm not saying this is true, just putting in what i recently read, and yes you cant believe everything you read.I honestly dont think we'll ever know the truth, pictures and photos dont prove anything,it would require digging in the EXACT spot and PULLING out the evidence, bits of broken plastic,or any remnants that consist of a gaming program.Until I see that happen ,I give it a %30 chance of it being true, but it would have to be done by a group of ambitous ATARI buffs, depending on laws, cause no one else cares whether or not this is true.

  5. I cant believe that there's still quite a steady flow of classic gaming carts and consoles coming in at my local Value Village.Everytime i go there,at least twice a week, there's a whole bunch ofclassic games and consoles that came in just waiting to be grabbed,so yes,the thrift shops are where i get most of my games, and its SOOOOOOOOO much cheaper than E-bay,which can be ridiculously pricey.

  6. Possibly a problem in the conductive traces?

I think fixes have been suggested which involve going over broken traces with either a car demister repair kit, or painting on silver laquer.

Or it might be something simpler like a loose keyboard ribbon cable.

Hi,and thank you for your response. What exactly is a"car demister repair kit",and what do you mean by painting on silver laquer.Excuse my ignorance on these matters, reply much appreciated,as it would be great to fix this keyboard instead of butchering it for spare parts!

  7. Hi,everyone,I picked up a second atari 400 at the flea market this weekend,as is,the game playing function works flawless, its the keyboard. As you already know the 400 uses a flat membrane as a keyboard, all the keys work except for the first 2 keys on each row going down on both sides, weird. Can this be fixed?without having to replace the whole membrane.Thanx(sorry for posting twice,my browser screwed up on me)

  8. There are far better games than this one. I've learned that much from this site. How could anyone have ever played this dud of a game?

I dont know, ask the numerous of why they played the 2600 version of Pac-man.

  9. I heard that Steve Perry requested that the director use shots that wouldn't reveal all of the weight he had gained. I saw it on pop up video once.

Yeah,I saw that on "pop up video" also,he got pretty pudgie at that time in his life.

  10. Besides, why screw around with an outdated piece of equipment when there's modern pc's and printers out there that out perform the ADAM to infinity.

Outdated equipment? You do realize so is the Atari and various other computers and consoles discussed on this site? So, if you don't like "outdated piece of equipment" why are you on Atariage again?

    Sorry,but thats how i feel,and each to his/her own also.Thank you!

    Whatever. :ponder:

    Garak

Thats my opinion, you cant compare the 2600 to computer systems, thats another thing altogether, if you dont like my opinions, tough S$%t,dont read them, everyone has a right their opinions,HAVE A NICE DAY

  11. The ADAM is A PIECE OF JUNK,ALWAYS WAS,power supply in the printer?what retard thought of that?.I wouldnt want to give myself headaches of owning one, except if it was all complete and working,id keep it for collectors value i guess.A buddy of mine had one back in the day,he SUMMED IT UP IN THREE WORDS,-----------"NOTHIN BUT HEADACHES"Besides, why screw around with an outdated piece of equipment when there's modern pc's and printers out there that out perform the ADAM to infinity.Sorry, but thats how i feel, and each to his/her own also.Thank you!

  12. I saw a complete Coleco Adam ,still all in the original box at my local thrift store last summer, was seriously thinking on buying it, $19.99,they wanted for it,but said to myself im just buying myself a headache, which is what it was back in the day.Okay to have for collectors value, but for for me,i dont want something where you cant buy parts anymore, went back the next day,and it was gone!I ASSUMED there werent parts for it anymore,or is there?,anyone know?If there is,next one i see,i will grab!

  13. Ive heard kids call it "poors mans system",back in the day, dont know why they called it that,a new 2600 was just under $300.00 canadian back in 80-81,that was not cheap!Other than that,I call it "twenty six hundred"
