I bought a new FB3.Pretty cool, except, it includes Secret Quest, which requires BW/TV TYPE switch to view the Status screen, in the original cart game anyway.I haven't been able to get the status screen on the FB3 because there is no B/W switch. Is this a mistake they made, to include a game that uses the B/W switch but doesn't have one?Can the game be played without the status screen? wtf is the deal here? thanx!

Duh! sorry for posting in wrong section initially.I just never had a need to go to the dedicated systems forum since i've been a member and have forgotten it exists!!!!!!

So, i think i understand what you are getting at Syntax.I read the instruction manual for SQ here at AA and it mentions something about using the tv type or BW/COLOR switch to access the Status Screen, which i don't seem to be able to get with the FB3.Was this an error? Is the game now unplayable without the Status screen?BTW, what a stupid thing to do, to include this game if it can't be played right.

Secret Quest requires the color/bw switch which the fb3 does not have. Future fb3 models will not have secret quest.
Do you mean the FB3 i have doesn't have Secret Quest? It does have it, i'm sure it compensates for the BW/color switch somehow, i haven't played it yet, i'll report back what i found.

First, i apologise if this is old news but, while bringing all these cool 70's retro sitcom DVD'S to counter to pay, i spotted Atari FlashBack 3 on display.I bought it of course, brand new in box sealed by 2 clear stickers on end flap.It is the 2600 4-6 switcher style like FlashBack 2.The inside of box has an egg carton material insert moulded to hold the console, adapter, two cx-40's.The package also included a big glossy poster which has screenshots of the 60 games included.I haven't heard a lot about FlashBack 3, the clerk said he got his stock not even 2 weeks ago, and said it just came out, so i thought i'd share. The FB3's corners where the control buttons are has a nice round shape rather than square. The controller ports are at the front, rather than the back, I can't wait to try out "Secret Quest" tonight.Anyways i think it's a cool package!!!!

I went to the flea market yesterday and saw Atari Flashback. It's the one with the 7800 style console .I am not sure what they sold for new.Anyways the guy wanted $50.00 for it and said he'll take $40, that seems insanely high. What price would be reasonable for it?I have FB 2 which i bought 2nd hand a while ago, i don't recall what i paid, but it wasn't $40.00!

Yeah, i bought Penguin Land last April from Gooddealgames.Insanely hard but fantastic game!

Glad to see it's just not me having crap reflexes.I gave up on Grogs Revenge, i simply find it too difficult, i mean it just doen't give you a chance.Usually games give you a fighting chance and increase in difficulty, gradually, not his game, it's insanely hard right from the start.

No one has mentioned FROGGO?Either they were impossible to play due to being ridiculously hard or just plain lame.

Back in 'THE" days, i 1st aquired a 2600, which i really loved and still do.After that i was lusting for a ColecoVision.Just watching and playing the CV in action in the stores was an unforgettable experience. Then i wanted an Intellivsion, but of course i was just a school kid and didn't have the money. As we all know the stuff was extemely pricey back then, so it's just an extra plus to be able to get the stuff for usually, not always, next to nothing today.I have to say though i am playing my Intellivision more nowadays thanks to the fine folks who are putting out new versions like DK1&2, or totally new and original games for the INTV

Geez!!, you would think they would've printed "NTSC" or "PAL" at the bottom of the boxes somewhere, like it would cost extra millions more just to print 3 or 4 tiny letters
.It's important to know what the damn thing is for buying or especially if selling without breaking the box open!

Wow!, O'Shea must have made a hefty profit. It would be interesting to see how much gold can be taken from say 1,000,000 game carts.

1st.I ordered mine from 4Jays.com.Are they still in business? I'll have to check..
There was a thread i believe in the Classic General Gaming section i was reading not too long ago and they were saying 4Jay's reputation isn't the same anymore. Saying they never answer emails anymore etc.
Here it is, found it.
That's unfortunate.I bought the adapter like 5-6 or more years ago.Lots can change in that time span.

Regardless, if anything, all involved with bringing us DK 1&2 deserve a firm handshake.I'm just thankful there are folks out there with enough ambition to produce new games after all these years, pretty frickin amazing IMO!

It's always a treat getting new CV games! You got some good ones there!

I'm not sure.If you have really humid conditions, store your games in plastic bags along with a desiccant packette in each.I have never worried about it, and my games are still working like new and still look store bought new, labels included.I've always stored my games loose on shelves, no bags nothing, no problems.Unless you have a nice finished climate controlled basement, i'd store them elsewhere in the house just to be safe, or spend money on a dehumidifier and pay higher electricity bills, up to you.

Those specs are a hard find for an equivalent, i know , i looked like crazy 1st.I ordered mine from 4Jays.com.Are they still in business? I'll have to check.Anyways i live in Ontario, Canada, i think they are out in the far states from me somewhere, and the power adapter was at my doorstep not even 4 days later, the fastest shipping i've ever seen!!, great service all around.

First of all, my apologies if this is old news.I walked into the local gaming store last week and was pleasantly surprised to see an advance demo copy of DK 1&2 for the great Intellivision.Let me just say, this game is absolutely mind blowing in every way!!!!!!.One version has three characters Luigi, Mario, and Tony, each with different strengths/weaknesses.The game even has voice, the girl standing next to Kong yells 'HELP" at the beginning. The girders on the barrel screen has holes in the girders also. The thing i was wondering, is this the same game that was mentioned here already?I didn't have much time to check it out as i had groceries in the car and had to leave right away.I live in Ontario, Canada, and one or 2 of the guys involved in creating this game is a local guy.I think one of the last names i saw on the credit screen was "CHEVALIER"Anyway i put a down payment on DK1, and will get DK2 when it is released.

Hahahaa, wow. I'd say that Xexys is "zeck-sis" but that's a guess.
As for Galaga, everyone I know back in the grand days of arcades called it "ga-lah-ga" or some version of a soft 'a' in the middle. Maybe a few "ga-li-guh"s out there but I remember almost everyone pronouncing all three 'a's as 'ah'. Nobody every used a hard 'a' as far as I can remember ("gay-lah-ga" or "ga-lay-ga" or anything like that), either.
Well the mighty Persian King's name was XERXES, pro-nounced Zerk-Zeez, for a starting point.

Although off topic, someone mentioned something about Journey's original singer.Robert Fleischmann was Journey's 1st or 2nd? singer who also sang for VINNIE VINCENT'S INVASION.
Actually Journey's first singer was Gregg Rolie who was also in Santana's band. He was still in the band even when Steve Perry joined but quit before they made Escape. The first two albums are awesome but the ones with Perry I like are Infinity and Frontiers.
'Seperate Ways(Worlds Apart)' is my favorite Journey song with Steve Perry tho. Probably some of the best 80's synth work were done in that song. I used to make fun of the music video alot.
I never listened to the new singer Arnel Pineda although I always hear he is good. I just don't think anyone can top Steve Perry, and I thought it was weird they re-recorded Steve's songs with the new singer. No way anyone can sing those songs better than Steve Perry.
Anyways I found someone who will sell this game to me soon. Can't wait to play it.
Okay, thanks for the info!Journey with Greg Rolie was the lineup i liked best.I saw a few pics of Neil Schon when he was in Santana. He had a huge fro, and motorcycle handlebar moustache, and kept the look into Journey's early days(early to late 70's)That was hilarious compared to how he looked in the 80's and on era of Journey. So i guess Robert fleischmann came much later after Steve Perry left.I find it odd he went from singing for Journey to Vinnie Vincent's band.

The ones that got away! Share your experiences and pics.

I found a 2600 DEV unit at the local Value Village. At the time i had no idea what it was.I asked someone here at AA, and to my horror was told what it was.I though it was just a crudely modded 2600, done by the regular tinkerer.I went back like not even 45 minutes later to get it, and it was GONE of course.I've been kicking myself since, 3-4 years ago.Lesson learned,if hesitant, grab the stuff ANYWAY while it's THERE!
