  1. Grabbed a very nice condition Track And Field controller for 2 bucks. This thing looks like it should be THE controller to play Space Invaders with!

Also finally got an Atari 400. Came with Star Raiders (meh, already had it), and was in good condition. 15 bones. As an added bonus, it also had one of those little dongles that lets you plug the older style RF connectors straight into a coax plug, and those usually run between 2 and 5 dollars depending on where you get them, so that was a nifty addition.

Also picked up a few sundry games. Nothing spectacular, just filling in spots for the older systems.

As you might already know, the Track & Field controller works great for Colecovision Decathlon also!!!This controller is a real joystick saver.I couldn't imagine using the stock CV controller to play Decathlon, yikes!!!! :-o

  2. Twenty bucks is a friggin STEAL for a sealed Ninja Golf, I paid $42.00 for my sealed copy from eBay, that was about 2 years ago.I couldn't find a sealed one for cheaper.I would have gotten one cheaper eventually, but i wanted one really bad right away. This is one hobby where patience pays off.If you wait you can find what you want for a lot less money, happens to me all the time.

  3. I bought a WICO, COMMAND CONTROL trackball for $7.99 at Value Village a little while ago, and i love it, works fantastic.BTW, I use the Atari 2600 Track & Field control for Decathlon on my ColecoVision and any other game or console that utilizes it, the blue one with 2 white buttons on bottom and one red one on top, saves a lot of wear and tear on joysticks, and Decathlon AFAIK is the worse for that.

  4. To O.P. congratulations on your achievement!! that's pretty amazing!R.O.B. must be damn rare and hard to find from what I've seen. This one gaming store, every time someone walks in it's "holy crap! it's R.O.B,"and offer to buy it for as much as $500 one guy offered. One guy just wanted the battery cover I think it was, a small plastic lid that goes underneath for $50.I told the owner, man you should keep that thing in a display case or out of view, because one day you'll find that little lid GONE!Anyway, i wish i had one.

  5. I had a problem that ANY movement of console while playing would scramble game screen or make it go blank, thus requiring a reboot.I discovered that the connector going to the RF modulator box inside console at the back of CV console was loose, and any slight touch of loose connector would cause the screen problems like the problems you described.I opened up console, lifted up the silver-square RF modulator box lid and discovered the mounting points that hold box in solidly were ALL cracked. So i soldered them up which made the box and connector solid again, and problem was solved to where my CV works like new.I've done this to several of my CV's, hope this helps.

  6. I found what seems to be 5200 "Pitfall 2 Lost Caverns" a couple days ago.On one site, the serial number is listed as "FZ-011", without the "04" for 5200 Pitfall 2, lost Caverns. The serial number on the cartridge I have is "FZ-011-04" Mine seems to be the 5200 one size wise, anyone know why it's lasted as "FZ-011" with the "04" missing on one site, just want to know if i DO actually have the 5200 version. Now i only wish i had a 5200 console to play it on!

  7. Yeah, i would say the majority of Atari game and console buyers were parents/adults back in the early days. That was due to the fact of course, kids could not afford the very high prices since everything had to be bought new.Another way which was popular back then for me was selling or trading your games.I went to summer school where this one kid had a bunch of mint CIB games he grew tired of and sold them to me for like $10 each, which was a great deal back then.He would then go out and buy himself new games, that was the ideal way to do it.

  8. It never really occurred to me that the VCS only became popular and a huge hit when Space Invaders came out for it.I only heard of it late 1980.A kid at school said he was playing S.I. on his TV, I freaked out.He told me he had an Atari VCS, as it was called back then, and that you had to buy the game separate which plugged in on top of machine. The fact you can play S.I. on your own TV was the main deciding factor in me buying a VCS.Anyway, "That 70's Show" didn't really capture the true 70's spirit in many ways IMO, i didn't find it funny at ALL either. The 80's was more of the Classic gaming era as WE know it.Any 80's comedy, kids movie/show SHOULD at LEAST mention or show a CV, INTV, but DEFINITELY a 2600 to be believable to me.

  9. 1st thing i did when i got my roller controller was to take it apart and lube the roller bearings with bearing oil.The thing responded 100 % quicker with the lube job. Before it was slow as heck and had to swipe the ball like 10 times just to get the damn cursor to the other side of play screen. Now, one quick swipe and the cursor flies to the other side and all other directions lightning quick.

  10. The inflated prices suck for "BUYING", but for "SELLING", one would be as happy as a pig in s##t, and wouldn't complain :lust: .Not all sell their stuff, just saying. It depends which side of the fence one is on really. It's nice knowing stuff you collect is worth a lot for resale, perhaps for a nice nest egg for when you retire.I myself don't sale my stuff so i prefer that stuff stays priced low, but like i said depends which side you're on.

  11. Wow!,it's unbelievable stuff like this end up in obscure places like flea markets where they can be bought for next to nothing.I'm just wondering about the stories behind rare stuff like this that get literally abandoned.

  12. Yeah, that's my conclusion, i've giving up on MM since i can't get passed the 1st Boss, the Skull in the Crypt.I've had helpful hints from you guys here on how to beat the [email protected]#tard, and i STILL can't defeat him!

Did you get the mega blaster first? My strategy is not to face him with the weaker blaster. As soon as I get the first blaster in the laboritory in the basement, I go into the catacombs and grab the more powerful blaster (make sure you have both potions handy).

He goes down pretty quick when you've got that thing. :-)

I've tried finding the mega blaster with no luck obviously.Guess I'll have to look harder.I'm playing without any map, is the lab you are referring to under the mansion? IIRC, the entrance to the catacombs is located in the cabin in the woods, the one with the healing well outside?

  13. What about Commando? One of two games with a built-in POKEY chip and it looks stellar! Of course, obtaining a used copy can run $50-75 bucks.

I played the snot out of Commando on my NES when I was a kid. Loved it because they added in all the Easter eggs like the yashikis and underground bunkers. But it doesn't appear that the 7800 version has that cool stuff.

Also watched some YouTube vids of Ninja Golf, and that one looks awesomely fun and hilarious. :D

    bananas.

This game can be had for $20 or less if you're patient enough.

Ninja Golf is cool and fun, but after a couple games i got bored, it gets repetitive real quick.

  15. . Everyone touts Midnight Mutants and Scrapyard Dog but those while pretty to look at are too hard to be any fun.

Midnight Mutants is really hard? Didnt find that.

Well, tbh, I bored of it quickly and I attributed that to not making much progress. Maybe it's not hard and I just don't find it appealing.

  16. So i found a few 7800 games the other day at a gaming store. There was 2 Karateka, so i bought both since they were cheap enough $6 for both.I also grabbed Galaga, decent port, and Joust, which is awesome!Holey crap, talk about a tight fit, both the Karateka's are such a tight fit i have to almost use my foot for leverage just to pull them out of the 7800.Good thing Karateka is NOT a game i'll be plugging in often anyway! :rolling: It seems they used thicker boards for this game, all my other 7800 games are all a looser fit.Either that or the Karateka's weren't played much thus counts for less wear which probably equals tighter fit. :ponder:

  17. All bottled pop IME, mostly Pepsi products in the big 2 liter bottles go flat on me before half the bottle is gone and that gets worse when i put the bottle in the fridge.Nothing's worse than flat pop, sugar water. :woozy: I try NOT to drink too much pop, when i do, it's canned because the carbon is still there till the last sip because of the small amount.

  18. I can't say with a 100% certainty, and I'm sure someone in the know and North of the border will chime in soon enough, but pretty much all (maybe all) of the games that were made for the Canadian market by Coleco included a standard English style label and the extra label that you are referring to which is in French or partially in French. I've seen a couple of these as well, including in an unopened Roller Controller. This was done due to the large French Canadian population.

I would assume, and I hate doing that for obvious reasons, that these games were mass produced in Coleco's Montreal office/plant. I'm sure a lot of carts produced in the US that didn't include the extra label in the package also found there way into Canadian outlets as well.

BTW, do you live in Canada or near the border as that would explain why all your purchases included the extra label.

Yes, I am in Ontario Canada, close to Toronto.
