I could do with a stockist in the UK too. Just tried for a shipping estimate and it was almost $30 making for a very expensive game.

Oh was it? So 80 dollars is £63. I don't mind the cost of the game but yes postage is crazy but there'll likely be customs charges too. I know Gaztee stocks Songbird Jag titles in Birmingham. Not sure if he'd do AA lynx titles.

Unfortunately I am out of stock.

I even had to send my own copy to replace one lost by french post. Luckily the lost parcel finally arrived today (after 2 months) and the customer is kind enough to send it back to me.

No problem Fadest. I'll be on your site in the new year sometime ordering some of these new lynx titles. I've been off the scene for a couple of years.

  3. I now have the machine back from Juansolo who has managed to fix the issues. Only one thing remains and that's the clipping of the left edge of the image on my Panasonic TV. So if @SainT would be kind enough to implement positioning on the next firmware update that would be immense. This is a condition of the TV as it happens to a certain extent also from my 32X, and so not a condition of the GD7800.

  4. Saint -

I've just tested it with a slightly more modern flat screen TV and I have no image centering issues this time with the same RGB SCART cable.

But the system is still semi powering down in the same way with the GD.

Juansolo is going is going to look it over for me and do some fixes. I don't think the GD is at fault at all.

When you say crash to a black screen or crash the screen, what does that mean? Does it literally crash the console entirely? Ie. the game is no longer playing? Or does the screen get screwed, but if you power the TV off and on the picture comes back and the console is running? A photo or video may help figure out what’s going on.

But if commercial carts are doing the same over composite, then it does sound like a console issue rather than anything TV specific, especially if the inbuilt rom is ok. I had come to the conclusion from the description the TV was having a bit of a fit.

But do bear in mind, the 7800 is particularly bad when it comes to sync. Just because a different console of a similar era works on a TV fine, it doesn’t guarantee the 7800 will. The 7800 is a bit special with the way it fudges the CPU clock cycle length to access different areas of RAM and actually ends up causing jitter in the sync. It does just end up with how your TV deals with it. Mine refuses to show a picture at all, for example! Sony seem to be the pickiest of them all.

But that all said, if you can get your setup working properly let me know and I’ll see if I can add a screen position option in there for the AV port so you can center the screen. I think it should be possible.

Wanted to say - if you could add screen centering/positioning to your list for the future firmware updates, I think that would be pretty awesome and welcomed generally given the varying behaviours of flat screen TVs out there.

  6. Thanks Saint.

I wouldn't know about how the magic knight mod has been done as the creator of the mod did my installation.

Yes the MD2 scart cable is what I'm using and I assume it's carrying RGB. It's a full pin scart plug.

My 2009 flat screen has always been fine with every retro console I feed it.. And I have a lot of them!

I've just tried to tune the analogue signal from the 7800's original RF out but it won't work so I think the modder has disabled it.

I've been running the built in Asteroids (no cart inserted) and it doesn't crash/glitch the image to a black screen like the Game Drive does.

Also tried without the seagull adapter and just the old fashioned joystick but still the screen glitches. I think the problem is my 7800 has a propensity for this intermittently, and the GD is just highlighting it on every boot. Whether the 7800 needs a service /recap etc I don't know. Maybe someone in the UK could take a look at it after I explore this upscaler option.

EDIT - I can't spend $390 on the upscaler! But thanks for the recommendation. Inbuilt Asteroids has now been running for an hour and no glitches. I think the issue therefore must also be related to the cart slot.

  7. Hi SainT, further to our discussion a couple of days ago I have now located the MegaDrive 2 DIN to SCART cable. The colour is superior to the S-Vid mod but the screen image is off centre to the left and the far left of the image is therefore clipped.

    Ideas?

Further - the 7800 does tend to crash the image (like an out of tune 2600 on a CRT - or sends the screen totally black) - this happens on the rare occasion with regular carts (tested again yesterday) - but is happening every time guaranteed after about a minute with the Game Drive.

2600 ROMS on the Game Drive are not running through the S-video mod (out of tune), but run ok through the GD's AV out (image to the left - with crashes after a minute).

Pics of the S-video mod (taken today) attached.

    Any ideas?

(Ballblazer music (POKEY) is fine now through the proper cable but still have to turn the volume up on the TV.)

    Many thanks.

  8. Thanks Saint.

RGB.. Hmm not sure.. It's DIN plug to red, yellow, white plugs going into the same on the flatscreen TV. Presumably RGB is the signal rather than the form factor?? So... Does it have to be scart??

Maybe if you'd be kind enough to post a link to the most ideal RGB MD2 cable that would be great.

I didn't get the Mega 7800 as I have the seagull adapter already. I hope that doesn't affect anything.

Pokey.. I would have no idea but will research what's been done, I sent the 7800 off to someone years ago for the mod. I think his name was Richard.

  9. Mine has S-video mod and presumably the original RF out, disabled.

Game drive arrived today and I can't get the video signal from the AV out from the game drive with my MD2 cable. Audio is fine though. I assume this is something to do with having the S-video mod..??

Do I need to configure Pokey things? Because with my Ballblazer ROM I can barely hear the music.
