I used to play it at my local arcade It was next to Cosmic Avenger Played the Stella emulation The 2600 version could be improved a bit couldn't it ?
  2. Frenzy was not a wide release arcade game like Berzerk and was not all that popular It was a strange choice to port to Colecovision Glad they did port it though
  3. You should be able to get Repo boxes because you can get them for toy cars and things It wouldn't be that difficult for someone to make them up It's just Cardboard after all My Mum used to throw all of my 2600 boxes out and the instructions too Well I guess it was up to me to put them away instead of leaving them out on the living room floor so I deserved it
  4. There was also one in the TV Mini series V can't remember what the game was though
  5. Gorf had a planned arcade sequel Miss Gorf that actually got completed but the video game crash meant it never got released commercially
  6. I went on a week long trip of Europe around 1983 and I planned on holding back some spending money in the hope of picking up a 2600 game or 2 if the price was right Couldn't find anything in Holland or Germany On the way back home to Ireland we stopped off overnight in London Bayswater/Queensway and my friend decided to pick up a game from a major store at about £18 I think The game was an old one and not a very good one but he cut his losses and settled on it rather than ending up with nothing I held on to my money about £30 sterling (if I remember rightly) About ten minutes later we discovered this little corner shop selling second hand 2600 titles for £5 each Boxed with instructions I picked up Tigervision Polaris, Eggomania, Spectravideo Gangster Alley, Crossfire and China Syndrome.I was made up My friend rushed back to the original store and luckily managed to get his money back and he ended up getting Master Builder and another 2 titles so it turned out really good in the end.I see Master Builder is now a rare title. Does anybody in the UK remember Silica Shop ? They used to do really good mail order bargains on secondhand 2600 titles.
  7. Yes it's a good Stargate to Defender hack but it doesn't have those killer arcade explosions It's probably asking too much To get the 2600 as close as they have already was a major achievement Apparently Williams crew actually made the Stargate/Defender title screen for Atari
  8. Good Luck Killer Instinct on MAME requires the CHD files which are notoriously hard to find Better going for Super Nintendo Port instead Killer Instinct Gold
  9. Could Robotron be ported using both controllers like Stargate ? Also could Stargate's explosions be made more like the arcade version ? It's the only thing that lets down a truely amazing port considering the limitations.

That would have been cool to play back in the early 1980s. I believe that Pleiades was one of the first 5 'modern' arcade games that I ever played, so I would have loved to have it for the Atari 2600. I just finished up playing on emulator for around ten minutes...its kinda hard...but fun. Yeah woulda been cool back then one I was twelve or so. I used to play this and Phoenix quite a bit. Pleiads was good but I loved Gorf more with the speech synthesis

Tecmo/Centuri Pleiads was a cool arcade game back in the day It was basicaly Phoenix modified Would it be possible to hack Phoenix 2600 into Pleiades 2600
  14. Is it possible to buy Berzerk Voice Enhanced ? I would love to play it.
  15. Atarimania is a fantastic Atari 8 bit resource and has huge amounts of games, utilities and demos in ATR format, and even has a section with .ATX format games. Those are images of original protected disks that can be used with a patched version of Atari800Win PLus and the VAPI.DLL. Well I got the patched version and put the VAPI DLL in the same folder.I disabled the SIO patch and loaded in the ATX format image but the screen just goes blank. On start up It has a problem finding KAILLERACLIENT.DLL and ZLIB.DLL. The non patched version doesn't have this problem. On the non patched version ATR's don't work and the emulator crashes with a windows error when I try and attach a tape image. The GUI is not nice.I think it might be easier to look on eBay for an actual one.I might try and trade in my dusty Colecovision.
  16. Ok that's great and thanks for that. Now I will try and word this carefully If someone was looking for a ROM such as Rescue on Fractalus to play on that emulator might it be possible for that person to find it on the Internet for download. I notice a Website called AtariMania. Is that a good website or not ?
  17. Go To Post 4 Couldn't delete this
  18. I am trying to get an Atari 800 game emulator that will work on Windows XP and I hate to say I am struggling, all the emulators seem to be for Windows 95 and Windows 98 .I downloaded steem as I thought it supported the XL800.I can get ST games to work on it fine but not Atari 800.Is there any painless way to do it ?
  19. I remember playing Strikeforce in an arcade once.It had similar sound effects and graphics as Narc. It's surprising it didn't make more of an impact given the earlier success of Defender. I notice that it hasn't been ported to X-box or PS-2 either.Perhaps Midway will release it at some point in a compilation.I can't help feeling that the original Defender idea still has more life in it.Midway brought out a 3D Defender game a while ago, but I think that was the wrong direction.A good old fashioned Strikeforce styled sequel would have been more welcome.
  20. Cool but what about more buttons.Joystick Two has 4 directional sensors as well as a button sensor.
  21. My favourite arcades where at the seaside on holiday. In actual fact it was a big part of the holiday.I think you could have that experience again if you made arcades a mix of different things. You could have some old classic vids along with pinball, air hockey etc. and the occasional new arcade game to boot.I guess some people have already done this with video game museums.
  22. I noticed that Stargate/Defender 2 uses both Joystick One and Two for one player gameplay.I was wondering if anyone out there had built a custom single controller from both joysticks connected to both ports which would allow for more buttons Smartbomb, Hyperspace etc and also could new hombrew games take advantage of this modification.
  23. Hi I am Tom and I am a new member here at Atariage.I must start by saying I think it is fantastic that we have a great little community here that is into the golden era of videogames.I myself am from that era also and I think that modern corporate driven console games are mostly all graphics and not much fun.Indeed I think we can learn a lot from the early creators in the industry,Pioneers like Eugene Jarvis and Larry De Mar to name but two. I used to own an Atari 2600 and way back in 1981 games where so expensive that I was lucky if I got a few each year. Not only that but because not many of my friends where lucky enough to have a 2600 there wasn't much chance of swapping games, Well at least for a couple of years until the prices started to come down. So here we are today and there appears to be a very healthy Retro revival of early games in general from Arcade emulation like the MAME project through to Atari homebrew development like Berzerk VE. Recently I bought a CBS Colecovision on Ebay complete with Module One and I am very happy with it. I see that Stern's Astro Invader has recently been ported by a homebrewer and I think I might have to buy a copy of that. I hope this homebrew spirit continues, who knows maybe we as a community can influence modern corporate game development on X-Box and Playstation.I think a lot of the early game ideas from the Golden Era could be taken a step further. Now wouldn't that be interesting.
