Yeah, pretty lame...and I don't think I was too far off saying that you hit 25 bricks and it shifts into sixth gear. You can't get people hooked on a game if it's too hard to play. I set the sensitivity to 85% on Cutie Q with the mouse and it's much better thanks but I still think it would be a lot easier with a spinner. The same goes for Arkanoid.Have you ever tried Jaleco's pinball videogame Pinbo ? http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9018
-
Of these, I dislike Gee Bee because it's just too hard. It seems like you break about 25 bricks and then the ball shifts into 6th gear at an insane speed. GeeBee resets the blocks everytime you lose a ball ?
-
I have tried all three of these it's very difficult to play using the keyboard / mouse I am assuming you need a spinner controller for these.

NBC - Crazy Climber 2 only released in Japan is worth playing once you sort out your controls Jaleco - Field Combat was a bit rare in the arcade but was fun Cinematronics - Cosmic Chasm is fun Sega Gremlin - Pulsar Is a good game, download the sound samples Stern - Rescue is kind of cool try it if you liked Choplifter Controls are tricky on the Keyboard Namco - Assault is Awesome but the controls are tricky on the Keyboard takes a bit of practice Hoi - Mayday is a good to try if you liked Defender Midway - Strike Force is good the 1990 version of Defender Comsoft - Battle Of Atlantis is an old favourite it's like Scramble but set under sea

What games do you miss the most for the controls?

Those rotary controllers used to break down a lot Nothing more annoying than putting money into Ikari Warriors only to discover that you can't rotate right. -

MAME and legality-who decides what's legal to play?...
Bountybob replied to ataridave's topic in Arcade and Pinball
It's only my opinion I think if you aren't operating commercially "trying to make money with the ROMS" they prob don't mind with the older non franchise games if anything it's keeping interest alive in something that would be lost otherwise.Think about it like obscure Youtube music videos the record companies don't mind so much because if somebody likes the music video they might go out and buy the album. -
No probs only ever came across it once so it must have been obscure.I found just One in about 1000 games on a trip through about 20 video game arcades in 1987 in Blackpool Lancashire United Kingdom.I think I even paid to play one game on it because I had read about it.

What was the Worlds Largest collection of Video Games ?
Bountybob replied to Bountybob's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Yeah I guess your right I didn't think it through. If you where to attempt to do it in the United States it would prob have to be on a regional basis say four times a year in/near by different cities rotating, even then with the Geography of the United States that would still mean three hour drive by motorway for a lot of owners which as you say could be hazardous for precious games. As for the Cigarettes Soft drinks, you could just ban people from doing those activites in the games marquee areas. You could charge people in to the festival and charge people to play the games any profits go back to the owners to cover their transport costs.Your probably right there would be too many probems in terms of logistics security etc.I would just love to see a record set for the worlds largest collection of classic games and love to be there to see it. -

Funspot claims to be the largest classic arcade in the world today. Todd Tuckey of TNT Amusements claims to have the largest collection of arcade cabaret cabinets in the world. According to this article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/02/02/ST2008020201061.html it is said that Peter Hirschberg has one of the largest private collections in the country but I thought reading elsewhere that his was the largest collection in the country. Neat I was just wondering would it be possible to organize an annual meet where everyone sets up there Arcade games for a couple of days in a hired out venue and people to trvel to play the games charge them in to help cover the costs. We could get some serious collection on display then with word of mouth it could get bigger and bigger.Have competitions for best turned out Cabinets etc.Maybe in the summertime under Marquee Tents with live entertainment music etc A classic arcade game festival Is that a crazy idea ? -
What was the Worlds Largest collection of Video Games ? I mean back in the heyday of video games Early to Mid 80's The Largest Arcade in the world or maybe there is a classic collection out there now which is even larger Anyone know ? Imagine if every arcade game ever made was in one arcade (Bootlegs included) How cool would that be you would prob need an Aircraft Hanger and a week to play them all.

It's not impossible but it's probaby better suited for Colecovision.I know it's a much loved game.Namco also gave us Xevious another bridge too far title.I think the 2600 is better suited to the generation of games that came before Xevious and Mappy. It's better to make more accurate versions of the early arcade games rather than bad versions of later games.Crazy Balloon was very impressive indeed.
-
Mappy might be a bridge too far unless you had a crack team developing it like the guys that made Stargate. Even then it's asking a lot ? You have to look hard at it and ask yourself is this suitable to port to the 2600 ? Prob not.
-
Moon Cresta is an excellent sugestion.
-
Isn't better to concentrate on porting earlier games pre 1982 and play to the Atari 2600's strengths ? The likes of Astro Invader, Astro Fighter, and Cosmic Guerilla. These are great games and are Atari 2600 era which also makes them nicer to port.
-
Konami/Centuri Loco-motion 1982 Played it once I thought it was monochrome though unless there was an earlier version ? http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8439

They had a Spacewars in an arcade in Dublin City Center for a number of years circa 1979 1980.I wonder what happened to it ?

Fair enough Have a look at this flat.Don't think we will be playing Haunted House or Elektra in here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1258045/Flat-smaller-snooker-table-worth-200-000.html

Yep, that's total BS. Nothing new there. Just a hack and emulator sped up tom foolery. lol Being a Defender nut I thought I had missed somthing important there LOL

Nah, I know plenty of people with pinball machines AND sports cars (some with both). And not so coincidentally, most people that own a pinball or a sports car are more likely to own several. Like a Jay's potato chip - who can have just one? lol BTW: none of these people are "rich" either. It's just a priority thing. I get a kick out of those that complain they never have any money, yet they can take their family out to eat several times a week. Has anyone gone out to eat anywhere lately, let alone taken an entire family? The cost is staggering. Or they're making payments on an overpriced auto or two (one for the wifey), but can't afford to furnish their home with anything interesting. Ummmm yeah.... like I said: priorities. I'm pretty content with my current collection (many games come and go), but some pinball machines I wouldn't mind adding or reacquiring include: Torpedo Alley (again) Black Knight (again) Jungle Lord (again) Blackout Rescue 911 Baby Pac-Man (again) Nugent (again) Lectronomo (again) Meteor (again) Trident (again) Haunted House (again) F-14 Tomcat (again) Time Machine - really want one of these Old Chicago (again) Frankenstein Star Wars ...and about half-a-dozen of EM's from the 50's-60's. Wow thats getting near to a Museum collection A lot of people wouldn't have the floor space for Pinball Machines You must live in a mansion or a ranch or something ?

Scroll down to the video box and hit the caption below to play the video I am assuming this was a Stargate hack No such thing as unreleased Defender 3 in 1984.Defender 3 was Midway Strikeforce in 1990. http://www.cinemarcade.com/TGTTF/gametime48.html

I would like to have Bride of Pinbot. Very fun game. Yeah remember playing it in a pub / bar nice looking machine
-
Moon Patrol was by Irem. Yes I just realised Moon Patrol was the first game to feature Parallax scrolling, maybe thats what caught Williams attention It was a nice looking game and a nice 2600 port also.

I remember seeing Make Trax / Crush Roller in the arcades back in the day never really interested me.Played Amidar and Pepper 2 though which where kind of similar.
