  1. I think the original Boxes look the best I'm not a fan of the Silver or Red Labels either.
  2. You could probably make something like that yourself it's probably just connected up to the joystick movement sensors.
  3. Yes I got it for Christmas 1982 I think, along with Activision Tennis.I liked it It had nice sprites colours and sound effects. Looking at it today though I think it could have been improved on maybe enemy aircraft in addition to the ground guns. Would make a really nice hack for someone to do.Call it Laser Blast Extreme Condition.
  4. Welcome To Atari City We hope you have a pleasant stay http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3427/335382...d964f4989_o.jpg
  5. Pity its all just Silver Label Still a good place to start off your collection Imagine if there was another cave with even rarer Atari Games They must have put all that unsold stock somewhere guys
  6. Just wondered if anyone out there had modified the Atari 2600 Woody Casing - Paint Jobs/Different themes etc (Sacrilige I know) or how about modified controllers for a theme such as Space Invaders etc.
  7. Yes it looks like it's straight out of Heavy Metal circa early 80's some European fantasy artist such as Jean Giraud (Moebius).
  8. Ha I thought that you meant that had found a Heavy Sixer console.Rarity value 6 OK cool
  9. Outstanding Job Nukey Shay thanks for that info Would love to see your version boxed with nice artwork instructions etc The updates are cool keep up the good work dude
  10. It isn't. Stargate just has a decent sprite multiplexer and enemy AI that tries to avoid overloading it. Also well-drawn sprites. Technologically, Solaris blows the doors off Stargate. There is no denying It's easily one of the most accurate and sophisticated games (in terms of best use of available resources) ever created for the system.
  11. Man I had forgotten how much fun Space Invaders was and this Deluxe hack is fabulous can't believe its the 2600 Is it available to buy on Cartidge ? What a superb job with all the little extras like the Mystery Saucer and the Rainbow Bonus as tough as ever I had always thought that was for all Invaders shot no misses I once achieved it on a Space Invaders deluxe cocktail cabinet on holidays with my little brother watching Ha.
  12. Pretty tough. This is just a hack, so it's working within the limitations of the original game (a maximum of 6 invaders per row...and leftmost columns shot away cause the rightmost columns cease to exist). What you suggest would be a completely new game...since the virtually unchanged game engine would no longer be sufficent. This also makes it impossible for the motherships to restore missing columns. Yes I had forgotten about that didn't that also occur on the first (Space Invaders) level of Gorf ?

What you suggest would be a completely new game...since the virtually unchanged game engine would no longer be sufficent. This also makes it impossible for the motherships to restore missing columns. I'm not familiar with this...could you be thinking of Galaga (which does keep track of your hit/miss ratio)? The only bonus screens that I'm aware of is "rainbow" bonuses (shooting a low invader last) and 2 intermission screens between rounds...both of these aspects are present in the hack. Shot-counting...as a method to force high-value blinking motherships to appear...is also present (tho not 100% true to the arcade's method). The "wall of death" method of remaining invulnerable to invader shots is also not present...and neither is the ability of the invaders to partially-erase shields as they "step" over them. The original game's variations are still present...you can choose variations that feature fast missiles 100% agree...but it won't be this. It's just a hack that has no way of correcting the fundamental differences from the arcade game. Most importantly, 11 invaders per row. Thanks that was cool info Maybe someday we will get a true Space Invaders Delux but the hack sure is impressive
  14. Really Nice Job on that Just wondering if it would be possible to build in the Invaders splitting into 2 like the arcade game does Would that be tough to do ? Also how about a little Bonus screen for all invaders destroyed without any misses like the arcade game does ? I was thinking Speeding up the Invaders shots would really make it a tough game like the arcade game.I'm thinking someone could really nail this one and get it perfect.
  15. In terms of the best possible use of the Atari 2600's system resources (without the supercharger) how about Defender 2 ? Truely an incredible achievement to get such an accurate port of the awesome Defender Stargate working on the humble VCS. Berzerk Voice Enhanced deserves a mention here also, Outstanding Job Mike .
  16. Perhaps it was one of the most popular games prior to Space Invaders ? So you got Combat and Air Sea Battle that was a nice bundle with a sort of military kind of theme. When I bought my Sears model it came with Target Fun (aka Air Sea Battle). But of course what I bought with it was Space Invaders.. so yeah, my very first 2 2600 games were these two titles. Cool so you never had Combat you had Air Sea Battle Instead.
  17. Yes that's a good point but Air Sea Battle looked really cool in the department store before I got the console.I guess Space Invaders was Atari's killer App Trump Card. The game that left every other toy that Christmas far behind on Santa's wish list.I know I was lucky to get it.I had kids coming around my house in amazement to look at it even the Television guy who fixed our TV to get the Atari working on it was excited to see it. air sea battle is great i like it way better mainly the shooting gallery with the big smiley faces how you can play with/against a friend and how you can select homing/guided shots but space invaders does have than sense of urgency and is an "arcade game" so its really comparing apples to oranges arcade games vs home games Air Sea Battle was sort of based on Atari's 1975 arcade game Anti Aircraft which didn't even have a CPU. http://www.old-computers.com/MUSEUM/softwa...ircraft_cab.jpg http://www.old-computers.com/MUSEUM/softwa...aircraft_s1.jpg

  19. I have to say I actually had fun completing Superman The Game, and ET The Game.Raiders Of The Lost Ark was a bit too tricky though and I got frustrated and bored with it before giving it back to my friend who owned it. Problem with those games was once you completed them there was no extra playability really or was there a timer built in I suppose you could always try and do it in a faster time.

  21. When I got my Atari around 1980 I had a choice between Air Sea Battle and Space Invaders I took Space Invaders, between these two games which game would you say was the best overall at that time ? Thanks for any feedback.
  22. Why did later Atari 2600 silver carts such as Phoenix and Vanguard have less game variations unlike earlier games such as Space Invaders, Air Sea Battle Asteroids, Berzerk and Defender. Was that a change of thinking at Atari's marketing department.Seems to me the earlier games where better and more value for your bucks from this point of view.
  23. Thanks for the link Man I love this artwork it was the best Christmas ever when I pulled this sucker out of the Atati VCS box http://www.retrogames.it/immagini%5Cfoto%5...ri%5Ccombat.jpg
