  1. the hyperkin megadrive clone has pretty decent composite out for sega master system on crt.  definitely nicer than stock genesis.   with hdmi out for some reason you need to switch it to PAL and the games run slow.  does anyone know if that clone is pretty accurate for sega master system games (and genesis too?).  i haven't noticed any difference (except for a cleaner signal) in gameplay, but i'm not very attuned to things like that.

  2. Growing up i remember the people who had the master system were very intriguing.  (to me anyway).  it was like where did you get that?  I mean I guess duh probably like toys r us or something, but i remember it being quite exotic. same with the tg16 when i got to high school.  i only knew one person who's brother had it (that i wound up trading my gameboy for). Oddly, my best friend since high school (in my 40s now) told me JUST THE OTHER DAY he had a turbografx back in the day.  I was like what!?

  3. I wish I had waited before getting all kinds of crazy cables and just got the retrotink instead..  lesson learned I guess.  It's fascinating how this market has picked up so much steam in the last 5-6 years.  But I think i've stopped caring about getting these old systems on new tvs, they just look better on CRT's no matter what.  Maybe OLED, but that still looks flat to me.

  4. I have the Levelhike adapters for  the SNES/N64/Gamecube, PS2, and TG16.  (one of those might be a hyperkin brand though..?)  Actually maybe not, I remember returning a hyperkin one, so i think they are all levelhike.   They were fine.  Colors seem a little off on all of them.  Ever since I got back into CRT's (im up to three of them now!) I can't go back to playing old games on HD flatscreens anymore where everything seems so flat and lifeless even with expensive scalers and such.  With CRT's it feels like actual meat on the bones and new televisions just seem lifeless and skeletal.

  5. LOL, thanks for posting that, i knew i wasn't crazy!
OOOOH, you have BC Racers..  I wanted that one when I had the 32x.  Never wound up getting a copy, but when I went to play it on an emulator on the playstation classic with retroarch, i wasn't too impressed.. (kart racers is one of my fav. sub genres).  How is 32X emulation in retroarch decent?  It seems fine to me, but who knows.

  6. I'm stuck on the first level in kids difficulty. There's some large ..not sure what it is.. that shoots me everytime and I freeze and start back at the beginning of the section..  am I doing something wrong?

  7. while not particularly modern, last night i realized how much i can't stand memory cards.  specifically for ps1, ps2, and gamecube.  i went to play rollcage II for ps2 last night and couldn't find any saves on my memory cards (i swear i had them in the past) and i had to go through the annoying tutorial (a tutorial for a game like that is absurd) so i lost interest.  a little off topic, but is there a way to somehow get game saves off the internet somewhere onto a memory card so everything is unlocked and not have to deal with tutorials and difficult games anymore?

  8. no unlimited continues?!  grrrr now i kinda don't want it.

edit:.. please no Git  Gud.. I play video games for the experience, not the challenge.  I don't find challenging things enjoyable or satisfying.  My IQ is average.

  9. I ordered a game for pickup this morning from the best buy downstairs from me at work.. I go in there and she brings my game up AND R Type Final and then says she can't break the street date and I can pick that one up tomorrow :/  I almost had it!!!   I almost blurted out not to manhandle the game lol.  I didn't, but i wanted to.

  10. The one game I regret not getting when I had a jag was Atari Karts.  I remember the local game store at the time had it for 50 bux used and I thought that was too much.. This was the mid 00's, so well before the used game bubble market we are currently in.  I wonder how much people are trying to sell it for now on ebay? 200? 300? 9000? 26,405 graded 8.6?

  11. I don't know if it's a thing anymore, but sometime around the mid 2000's games started implementing in game social credit scores and I find that gag-worthy.  Of course they would use benign terminology like 'kudos', 'likes', etc..  still gross.  i especially despised it in racing games.

Memory is a bit vague, but seems like one of the Far Cry games had the protagonist griping about how awful it is to "suffer through the tutorial" while making the player "suffer through the tutorial."  😁

hahahah that's awesome.  mandatory tutorials should be illegal.  (doesn't it enable ableism!?!?)
