  1. I download roms but I go out of my way to own them in some form. I don't shovel-ware thousands of roms on to a system. I look all over and buy stuff like old compelation CDs for Xbox, PS2, Wii, PSP, PC, etc. In my opinion this is at least "ethical". I went out of my way to own the games I play. How I play them I don't care. I have plenty of discs where I bought the same content over and over because one version would have a few different games that another one doesn't. Games usually wind up costing anywhere from 7 cents a piece to maybe a $1.25 in many cases. Same thing with mini consoles. I like having some all in one solutions as an option. Games on mini systems are way cheaper than cartridges in most cases. I don't feel guilty running games I download because I own them. It would be nice to have a service where you can download and keep just about any game out there at an affordable price. Until then this is my solution.
  2. Another question... Can entries be "commented" out temporarily in that .ini file with semicolons or anything. Some of the built in arcade games are screwed up or missing features. I fixed some with the .cfg files but if I add those there will be two entries for the same game. Just wondering if I could temporarily "comment" out how the first one is defined if I want to go back to it for any strange reason. Like just uncomment it so it can be added again.
  3. Yeah, strange... I just tried starting 2600 drag race and it does nothing. Moving thru the menu game by game it shows the last game displayed again. Got deleted maybe? Weird. No great loss. I have Dragster on the menu now anyway.
  4. I tried it out and it "seemed" to work. Something went wrong the first time I tried adding a few games to the menu. (I did backup the .ini). I accidentally put a space in the folder name where to look for things... and some weird things began to happen. The box art was not matching the game names, screenshots were wrong, etc. I saw what happened with the extra space in the name and started over. Well, the next time around everything looked and played right... almost. For some reason the 2600 version of dragrace was using the box art from its position from the previously viewed page. Also had the wrong box art inside again. (Dark Cavern. First box art on that page). Everything else seems to work. I tried different cores on arcade Gorf but could only get the 2003 one to work. Maybe an old set? Nice work so far otherwise.
  5. You might want to rename it to Warlords instead. From what I remember experimenting way back was that Breakout worked for Kaboom! but only for the first player. I think Warlords.a26 got both paddle controlers working. I renamed all my paddle games to Warlords.a26 after that in separate folders. Seems to work.
  6. Also if games "must" be manually edited to work with the menus is it possible to reinstall the older update to put it back the way it was?
  7. Just a couple of questions... If I update to this custom firmware do I have to manually make entries for every game to get it to work? I have a couple hundred games I own I added for 2600, arcade, etc. Would they be playable still, or do I have to manually edit entries. Also is it "required" to have all the images to get things working in the nice slick menu or can some things be left blank for awhile until I find time to dig up all the required artwork, decide what text I will add, etc. Also, this thing basically dumps the contents of the system onto the SD card? So are the usual arcade .cfg files on the SD card? There were plenty of older arcade games on the system that were half broken or missing features. I made enough custom .cfgs for arcade games so all the options were available and the controls made more sense. I want to be able to keep them if I "upgrade" to the new firmware. Same with the artwork files. Oh yeah... The artwork... I just remembered... It seemed like on the GSP built in stuff the aspect ratio could be changed (16:9 or 4:3). Running off of the SD card it seemed arcade games were always trying to run in 4:3 but the artwork I mostly found was for 16:9. Any changes there?
  8. Just made another discovery. In a YouTube video on 4 player arcade Warlords it was mentioned someone got a 3 player game to work on the GSP. (Like 2 wired controlers and 1 wireless). I did some experimenting with Car Polo on the MAME end of things and with my 2 PS Classic controllers wired and the GSP sticks running wireless all 4 players worked. I took some guesses what the values would be for the player 3 and player 4 joysticks and it seems to be what I suspected as everything mapped out right on the first try. (I changed the Left Right steering to Up and Down). So it looks like the player 3 joystick maps out as... 89=Left 8A=Right 8B=Up 8C=Down 8D=A Button 8E=B Button 8F=C Trigger The player 4 joystick values run from 99 to 9F. So if people want to make more custom .cfgs for arcade games on the GSP using 4 joysticks these should be the values. Should be able to make dual stick controls for both players for games like Ultra Tank and Cybersled if it's supported.
  9. I made some dual joystick .cfg files that use both GSP joysticks on my YouTube channel a while back. Front Line and Wild Western were a couple of them. (One to move the other to aim).
  10. I did another one for my PS Classic controller. Up/Down on pad for left tread, Triangle and X for right tread. I think I had the O button for fire. (Before I found out R2 could be mapped)
  11. A few .cfgs for Video Pinball. Someone was having problems configuring it so I made 3. First one is how he wanted it. A and C buttons for flippers, down to launch, up to nudge. (Doesn't seem to do anything.) Another has left and right for the flippers. A 3rd is for PS Classic and Xbox controllers that use L2 and R2 for the flippers. (Bumpers on Xbox). Hopefully you have the old artwork file for it or it won't make sense how the ball is bouncing around. VidPinCFG.zip
  12. I had a request on one of my YouTube videos. Someone was having problems configuring Video Pinball and he is following stuff here as well. I made 3 .cfgs for it for anybody interested. The ACFlip one was how he wanted it. a and C buttons for flippers, down to launch, up to nudge. (Doesn't seem to do anything). LeftRightFlip has left and right for the flippers. I made one more for PSClassic controllers (and Xbox). L2 and R2 act as the flippers. Bumpers on Xbox. X to launch, up to nudge. Hopefully you have the old artwork file for the game or it won't make much sense how the ball is bouncing around. Deleting it now. Just configured it quick. VidPinCFG.zip
  13. 3 Count Bount I think. Some NeoGeo wrestling game to my knowledge.
  14. I'm pretty sure I got that one working. NeoGeo, right? Ones I can't get working on the GSP... Continental Circus *sniff* I tried multiple versions. Super Qix. Hard Drivin', Race Drivin' and Stun Runner don't even bother. Runs like molasses.
  15. That's not an issue where you just need to run a game again to get it working, is it? I know Williams stuff comes up with something like factory settings restored the first time. Runs the second time.
