  1. Of course, to me the biggest disappointment of the season is the success of the Wii. I sincerely hope that it will turn out like the N64 and have a strong launch followed by being ignored. I hate to contemplate another Nintendo dominated era of gaming.

I sort of agree with you on that. But because I don't have a grudge against nintendo like you or sega saturn X, I really don't care if nintendo prospers or not. I just think the wii is gonna end up like the eye toy.

  2. the weapons did not have the range they do today........but they DID have the range enough to where if you were good enough, you could put yourself in a tree and pick off people. maybe the preferred term is sharpshooter for Civil War era snipers.....one good example of a sniper is the unknown Confederate sharpshooter who, on July 1st 1863, during the battle of Gettysburg, shot General John Reynolds from his horse and thus led the First Corps to back down until Hancock was put in charge.

sorry for the ranting......my major is in history so i tend to get into lecture mode when it comes to this stuff....especially military history

Ah, sharpshooter was probably the word I was looking for, when I said "bushwacker". Yes, and I agree that that is definitely the coolest job in the civil war by far. I thought you were talking about sniper as in, someone who had the advantage due to sheer range of weapon.

  3. I might be the only one to say this, but I think the wii is stupid.

At first I thought it was a great idea, but when it all comes down to it, games will lose the "gameplay" aspect, and just go straight to "innovation" IMO. Now, these are only some of the games, because nintendo isn't overseeing production on all games.

Well guess what! I don't give a flying fuck about innovation.

    Now for my ps3 rant:

    1. too expensive

    2. same case as wii, but iwth graphics being the destroyer, not innovation

    3. just not as lucky as the 360 with it's game line-up, and I don't predict it will be, after the ps2

    Now for the 360:

At first I thought it was an utter failure, well, actually, for a while I thought it was an utter failure. But then, they got an excellent game line-up. Simple as that.

So, in the end, it comes down to either the 360 or the wii.

The 360 has an excellent game line-up, and will be aqcuiring the sequal to my favorite games of all time (Halo 3).

Then again, it is an extra $100 to play xbox games on the thing.

The wii has a feature that could go in the right direction, but probably won't.

Another thing about the wii though, is it's ability to play older nintendo games.

    And finally, the price.

  4. I was speaking hypothetically.

In your other posts, you seem to be a very mature and intellectual 13 year old

so I assumed you would have figured that out.

Yeah... I was just being a smart ass. That's in my nature no matter how old I am.

So taking the hypothetical, IF you had a 12 year old, are you saying you would whack the kid and

think it would make a difference? Since hitting another human being is a federal offense, what message

would you be sending your 12 year old son. That it's okay to smack someone as long as you are related?

Shouldn't it be even worse to smack someone you care about, escpecially a child rather than a complete stranger?

At this point only some serious therapy is going to help this kid or mother.

I think that would be a good idea if it were the mother's bad discipline. Which, it seems to be... At first. It seems that once she had this kid at a young age, she learned a lesson, and perhaps became somewhat of a good mother... But, by that point it was too late. The mother then tried all sorts of punishments on this kid, and they didn't work. Being a kid and being taken in to therapy is a big thing, and it seems he wants attention. I think the only factor that would decide wether therapy is the way to go would be whether or wether not the kid is the type that bottles up his emotions, or the type that really doesn't care.

To tell the truth, the thought of therapy hadn't really crossed my mind until now, and that is a very good point.

  5. Hitting another human being is a felony offense.

What message are you sending your 12 year old?

    My 12 year old?

    I'm 13.

That would be pretty odd if I had a twelve year old.

What I'm saying is, a stern talking to isn't going to work on this type of kid. They will just say "I'll never do it again" and then do it again. Obviously, taking away this kid's video games isn't going to work, and if he doesn't care about Juvinile hall, then I don't think "time-out" is going to work either.

If this were a younger child, then your methods would work perfectly. But by the looks of it, he wasn't given much discipline as a younger child, so it's too late for that.

  6. When I was younger, if I misbehaved, I got my gameboy taken away. That was more than enough to shut me up.

Like Jess R said, 15 minutes to a 5 year old is like an hour and a half.

But, this kid is not 5 is he. No, he's twelve.

All those things therealred5 said seemed to apply to younger kids. Sure, if this kid was five, a stern talking to might work, but he's not. He seems like the cocky-type kid. This problem should have been handled a long time ago, and at this point, I think the only way to induce that is to give him a good spankING.

On your other points, though, therealred5, I would have to agree with you. At a younger age of five, a spanking can lead to depression. But, please, this kid is not some little five year old who will be traumatized from a good hard whooping.
